Review: Jackie Gleason has many laughout loud moments as Sheriff Buford T. Justice. But also very funny is Mike Henry as his beefy but very wimpy son, Buford Jr. The funniest line has to be when the two of them are riding in a roofless police (err-- sheriff's) car and Jr's hat blows off:Jr: Daddy, my hat blew off.Buford Sr.: I hope your Goddamned Head was in it!Even now remembereing that I can't help but laugh.

Review: What red blooded American male (or female for that matter) hasn't fantasized about tearing across the country in a fast car, especially when he can leave a trail of wrecked police cars behind him? This low brow comedy allows a couple of hours of that! This film doesn't pretend to take itself seriously and I like that. Not only is it funny, only the chase scene in "Bullitt" beats what you see in this film! Burt Reynolds shines as the cocky Bandit but it's probably Jackie Gleason as Sheriff buford T. Justice who really steals the show! His vulgar mouth, jacked up grammar and his tough but bumbling persona are a joy to watch! A few may find some of the humor un PC but I've heard much worse in my lifetime. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that this is a classic!
