Summary: Funny beyond beleif
Review: I'll keep it short: This film is absolutely hilarious. It has great character development, an excellent story, superb cast, great special effects, awesome action and tons of extras on the dvd (lots of deleted scenes). Highly recommened for a good fun time. If you are expecting a serious superhero movie like the X-men, then you are in the wrong place. This is a pardoy of such films, which stands well on its own. Buy it, dont rent it because you will want to relive the laughs many a time.

Summary: It's okay, but...
Review: It's okay... as far as movies based on comic books go. It's nowhere near the quality of the Michael Keaton Batman movies. However, it does have its amusing moments. Were it not for Ben Stiller and William H. Macy, though, this movie would completely and totally suck.

Summary: Really funny!
Review: This movie was really funny! I loved it! It was about some "wannabee" superheros who wanted to defeat Cassanova Frankenstein, who kidknapped the worlds greatest superhero, Captain Amazing. Mr. Furious, the shoveler, and Blue Raja got together with The Inviisible Boy, The bowlers daughter, and the funniest of them all, The Spleen, with lots of "help" from The Sphinx! These Mystery Men broke into Cassanova Frankenstein's house and saved the world!

Summary: A VERY funny movie
Review: We saw this at the drive-in in a double with MI2 maybe a year after it disappeared all too quickly from the cinemas. Loved it and went straight out and bought the video (didn't bother with MI2). This is one film that can and should be watched again and again - there is always something new.

The whole premise is hugely entertaining (on several levels), and in addition to being a comedy, it is also a 'feel-good' movie in a way that doesn't leave you feeling manipulated. If you loved Batman and Superman, and grew up on a diet of super-hero comics then all the better (particularly when you think of all of the one-dimensional 'powers' that some of them had, and how difficult it must have been for the writers of the time to keep coming up with new ideas in an overcrowded market)

The performances and writing are first rate, and there are many memorable lines. The cast is brilliant : William H Macy, Geoffrey Rush, Wes Studi, Janeane Garofalo, Ben Stiller, Hank Azaria with excellent support from people such as Eddie Izzard & Tom Waits.

Give this film the chance it deserves it, and you won't be disappointed. However, if you are the sort of film goer that can't stand silliness and prefer realism and logic, then you just won't get it and you won't like it.

Summary: Something is missing...
Review: I really wanted to like this movie, but it just missed some little bit of chemistry somewhere. It struck me that they wanted to make a campy movie, but also wanted a serious movie, and in that they fail. The script and director look like they are trying to strive for a live action film a la "The Tick" cartoon series, but they wanted a plot under it all that is more like "Batman". The nuttiness of the characters and setting don't mix with the attempts at a serious subtext. Overall, as a theatrical movie, this is a miss. Its an entertaining diversion for a rainy afternoon though.

Summary: Not Too Bad
Review: This film was strongly recommended to me, so when i went to see it i have to say i was dissapointed. But watching it for a second time i seemed to enjoy it more. There are some very funny jokes in this mostly thanks to Greg Kinnear.

Don't pay any money for this film but its worth watching if its on TV.

Summary: Captain Amazing Meets Major Disappointment
Review: I laughed exactly four times in this film. I kept waiting for Garofalo and Stiller to break loose, but the script seemed to be so wrapped up in too many characters, someone forgot to add jokes. I was very disappointed with all involved.

Summary: Enjoyable Superhero Comedy.
Review: Mystery Men looked like a cool movie for a Sunday night. It turned out to be a pretty good watch, nothing I'd care to see again, but still lots of silly, far-fetched fun at the time.

The cast clearly had a good time, and a great team it was too - Ben Stiller, Hank Azaria, Greg Kinnear, Willam H. Macy and Janeane Garafolo are all on super form - and they've chosen a pretty fun movie to get a break away from all their hard work recently. There are a lot of imaginative scenes, colourful set pieces and an awesome soundtrack adds to the bonus. But, it's not all good. Mystery Men is overlong for a superhero flick, some of the actors unclear voicing becomes irritating and there is some messy cinematography. If not classically hilarious or memorable, Mystery Men is undemanding fun which most audiences will enjoy.

Summary: Hilarious Performances
Review: This movie didn't do too well at the box office but I have to say it's much funnier than people give it credit for. I think most of the credit goes to the actors who probably improvised the funnier bits. Top performances but the whole cast!

Summary: A Great Movie
Review: When Captain Amazing, Champion City's legendary superhero, falls into the hands of the evil madman Casanova Frankenstein and his disco-dancing henchmen, there's suddenly a chance for the aspiring superheroes to show what they can do. They're the Mystery Men...a ragtag team of superhero wannabes featuring: Mr. Furious, whose power comes from his boundless rage; The Shoveler, a father who shovels "better than anyone"; The Blue Raja, a fork-flinging mama's boy; The Bowler, who fights crime with the help of her father's skull; The Spleen, whose power is pure flatulence; Invisible Boy, who's only invisible when no one's watching and The Sphinx, a cliché-spewing philosopher.

With its outrageous adventure, incredible cast and hip alternative humor, Mystery Men is so irresistibly funny and appealing, seeing it just once will never be enough.
