Summary: Hilarious! (especially when you're buzzing)
Review: But you don't have to be high to enjoy this movie! Alls you need is a good sense of humour - oh and if you're easily offended, you don't have to watch it. It's all just one great big piss take and I love it.

Summary: really funny!!!!
Review: Man, this was a funny movie. I saw it for the first time a couple years ago and MAN, IT WAS HILLARIOUS!!! It had all the qualities of a true comedy film. Although I still think their albums were better, this was the funniest movie I've ever seen, and funnier than the other C&C movies!

Summary: Their first and best movie belongs in a time capsule.
Review: Kids today would find it hard to fathom a movie like this could ever be made, with the "just say no" generation in between the making of this flick and today's Gen-Xers putting so much distance between the eras. And to recommend this movie to anyone under 18 would have the Feds knocking at your door. So recommending this movie to anyone who hasn't already seen it would be pointless. Younger kids, after so much anti-drug jargon could never relate to most of the humor. And most older folks who haven't seen it rejected it their first opportunity. You'd be hard pressed to convince them 20 years later, especially since all the anti-drug campaigns since seemed to confirm their original rejection of the flick. That aside, this is a hilarious movie, with scenes aplenty that many of us incorportated into our leisure time dialougue at the time. It's one of those flicks that was more fully appreciated at an outdoor theatre. It was the right movie at the right time- the peak of the decadent party time 70s, and efforts to reproduce this formula in subsequent Cheech and Chong movies didn't produce the same eye creasing laughs. I guess most of us embarked on more responsible endeavors and such self indulgent behavior just wasn't as funny (of course poor scripts were also big contributors to the unfunniness). Besides, such efforts were futile given the Reagan-Bush atmosphere that those attempts came in. Only two particular scenes from two different sources since that time bring back memories of the laughs "Up In Smoke" gave us, and neither were from Cheech and Chong movies. One is when Jeff Spicolli and his pals unload their van before school starts in "Fast Times at Ridgemont High" (perhaps another movie that could not be made given it's content), and the the other is the around the table male pow wows from the campy "That 70s Show" that seems to always take place in a cloud of smoke. Such humor has become taboo- quite frowned upon. You'll never see another movie like this. But this one is definite time capsule material.

Summary: funny as **** !!
Review: This is definately Cheech & Chong's best film (although the others are great too).

Summary: The best film i have ever seen and will ever see
Review: Cheeech and chong take you into their own little world as they go in search of some tasty bud to puff. Getting involved along the way with a van made of hash and end up entering a battle of the bands while everyone is getting high. This film is without doubt the best film i have ever seen. You will love it whether you can identify with the cannabis culture or not. There is a laugh a minute as the duo wreck havoc across the USA. The funniest moments are when cheech and chong are driving in their mad 80s car whilst puffing on a joint the size of an arm and dropping acid like theres no tomorrow........enjoy

Summary: Side splitting laugh a minute
Review: Watch the two daftest, funniest and most outrageous pair of comedians America has ever produced in their madcap caper 'Up In Smoke'. With a fast pace, gag a minute and brilliant music this film is a must see !

Summary: Cheech and chong rule, man!
Review: If you like Cheech, Chong, Mary, and Jane, this movie has them all! It's plot is as thin as smoke, but that takes away absolutely nothing from the hilarious pothead humor. Up in Smoke also has some great music. So if you like to laugh, put this tape in your VCR and "fire it up, man"!

Summary: The first (and best) of many Cheech & Chong films!
Review: Released in 1978, "Up in Smoke" is the first of six films by the comedy duo known as 'Cheech and Chong.' Being their first effort, it also seems like their best as later films (with the exception of "Things Are Tough All Over") quickly became boring and the magic just seemed lost. The first movie in a series is always the best, and true it is here with "Up in Smoke." The movie introduces us to Pedro DePacas and Man Stoner (Cheech and Chong, respectively) who meet under very unusual circumstances in Los Angeles. Cheech, driving his "...Love Machine" (it's a 1964 Chevrolet Impala for all you car-buffs out there!) joins with Chong and they spend the better part of the movie searching for some marijuana. The movie is very funny and is host to some of the most memorable "Cheech and Chong" scenes ever. The movie ends at a Rock club where the boys play some really strange music. On a final note, "Up in Smoke" has a very nice appearance by Stacy Keach who plays Sgt. Stedenko.
