Rating: Summary: 150 minutes of mindless cruelty Review: "Bad Boys II" is a viral mix of hip-hop and 80s action movies, two genres steeped in machismo and bloodlust. Violent and gratuitous, it offers a bleak view of the world that would play very well in war-torn nations. Will Smith and Martin Lawrence reprise their roles as Miami DEA cops Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett. Joe Pantoliano drops by for a cameo as "the boss." Gabrielle Union tries to look earnest as Marcus's sister and Mike's secret girlfriend. In truth, Marcus and Mike are the de facto lovers of this piece, not unlike Paul Walker and Tyrese in John Singleton's masterpiece "Too Fast, Too Furious." After establishing some rapport in the original movie Smith and Lawrence refine their comedy. Mike shoots Marcus in the rear, for example. Later, they shout. "Let me out this car!" Marcus screams. "Let me do my thing!" Mike screams back. The "plot" concerns an ecstasy druglord (Jordi Molli, channeling Pacino in "Scarface," and Cheech, in anything) so cunning he's beaten the rap a dozen times. He uses his mother's funeral home as a front, stuffing bags of pills in dead bodies. Eventually these cadavers fall out of a truck and come careening toward the camera, an avalanche of dead flesh. This innovative trick is the cinematic styling of Michael Bay, who directs a movie like that scene in "Raging Bull" where Jake LaMotta bloodies his head against a cement wall. One car chase in "Bad Boys II" is so long there's actually an intermission, as drug runners stand upon wrecked cars and unload their mighty guns into the Miami air. It is, quite simply, one of the most ludicrous things ever committed to celluloid. It is apt preparation, however, for Bay's finale, a showdown in - wait for it - Cuba, where the druglord and our fearless cops destroy a shantytown on the side of a hill in their dueling Hummers. Which is okay, for all the shantytown's inhabitants - kids too - are a bunch of coke cookers, a fact slipped in just before the first garbage house is obliterated. I call that class.
Rating: Summary: Better than the first! Review: I just laughed like crazy at this movie. With non-stop action and non-stop laughter, who could ask for more? I cannot wait for the DVD! And to all of the people who say that cops would never do anything seen in this movie: I don't watch movies to say that that's not going to happen in real life. That's the point of movies, it's an escape. You don't go see Finding Nemo and say that fishes would never do something!
Rating: Summary: EVEN BETTER THAN THE FIRST PART Review: I'm from Germany, and was lucky enough to be in America as the movie was in cinemas all over america. It's a really great movie. I've never seen so much action and so much funny things compared in one movie. If you liked the first part of "bad boys" you'll love the Bad Boys 2 film !
Rating: Summary: It's Great!!! Review: The movie is very funny. There was a lot of action and excitement. I could look at this movie over and over. Agreat movie for a rainy weekend!
Rating: Summary: a well deserved second place Review: Aside from the Matrix Reloaded, which no action movie can compare too, Bad Boys II was the best action film of the year. Again, I am not comparing it to Reloaded, which is probably the best action movie ever. The movie is hilarious, and the sction scenes are incredible. There are at least 4 different 15-20 minute action scenes. The movie is long, but never dull. Incredible!
Rating: Summary: Wow!!! Super Tactical Review: Well I can only say, that went to see it at the theater and left feeling a different man, th adrenaline, the action sequence, the car chase, it's a wanna be movie. Recommended A++++++
Rating: Summary: Bad Movie Too Review: Give a five year old a movie camera and tell him to film playing cowboys and Indians with Tonka trucks and you have Bad Boys II, a disgrace that somehow took 8 years to reach fruition. It's probably the most racist, homophobic and degrading experience you'll ever see. I don't even think Michael Bay knew he was making such a movie which only adds to his incompetence. The basic logic of the movie is something like this, if you are a cop then it is okay to kill as many people as you want in the most brutal way possible (inadvertently causing our 'heroes' to become fascists, bigots and subliminally eviler than the main villain). There is also subtext, something along the lines of; all ethnic minorities are either murderers, drug dealers or some kind of foul human being and all country-dwellers are inbred, racist Klan members. The movie spews hate in the faces of every audience member who has been misled into believing they are watching an action-comedy. Miami is a place with a very diverse ethnic population and I think it is completely irresponsible for the filmmakers to have behaved in this way. Maybe a five year old with a movie camera would have been too grown up to have allowed this. As you can tell by one of my older reviews, Bad Boys was hardly a unique or original movie but it worked because the style made up for the lack of intelligence and Mark Mancina's musical score was very strong. It gave every scene a beat, tied them together and sounded mighty cool. Well, that is gone! Mancina's buddy Trevor Rabin took over scoring duties for this movie and the cool Bad Boys theme is completely gone and replaced with an endless and dull drone. In fact I would suggest that the score for this movie doesn't actually exist. And there are far too many unnecessary scenes of absolutely nothing that contribute in no way to the already clichéd plot (drug dealers, oooohhhh that's not been done before). It proves that Bay was given far, far too much time and money to do whatever he wanted. The result? A 2.5 hour mess of unremarkable car chases (also highly original, you'd never expect an action movie to have a car chase would you?), constant, unironic profanity and sexism. And can someone tell me how the slimy main villain seemed have constant stubble without ever growing a beard? Several days pass by, he doesn't shave and he never grows a beard. The movie would have you believe that all Cubans are this way. And that's only a tiny shred of the movie's racism. It took FIVE writers to come up with this. The fact that they or Michael Bay have been playing Grand Theft Auto:Vice City far too much is clearly evident. Almost every single part of this movie is stolen from some part of that game. From locations, to car, situations, characters and plots. And still it is no where near as good.
Rating: Summary: ONE STAR TOO FAR! Review: There are a couple funny moments in this "blockbuster", about one per hour. Two and a half hours of crap this. Bad, bad movie.
Rating: Summary: Whole Lot of Shaking Going On Review: ... Hollywood keeps churning up ways of crushing cars & in this instance, a boat big time on a high-speed chase. All Michael Bay's signature styles are still there such as the glossy picture perfect visuals (suiting Miami to the dots and tees), slow-motion heroic pose frame (can't help but thinking that this is John Woo's rip-off) but this time around, there are also elements that we are accustomed to in CSI (TV series -not surprising as the Producer is one & the same person, Jerry Bruckheimer) and in David Fincher's movie, Panic Room. Perhaps, that's one of the reason why the novelty is gone compared with the original Bad Boys. Having said that, that doesn't mean Bad Boys 2 is a lesser movie. Will & Martin's personas & charismas are indispensable in Bad Boys franchise. They literally glued the whole movie together. The camera simply loved them as all the supporting roles in the franchise are simply playing secondary roles. The plots & the ending are predictable. Just like "Too Fast Too Furious", in these modern days, movies can make do without a good script. Rather, actions are what audience is craving for. Having said that, with inclusion of veteran such as Shelton who penned Tin Cup, Bull Durham, the conversations in Bad Boys are never dull. Or shall I say, as colourful & as vibrant as Miami! Will & Martin's issue with anger management, Will's secret dating of Martin's sister are simply alibis for them to display their comical inclination. A no-brainer movie with lots of fun & laughter. You would definitely get your money's worth considering that this Bad Boys 2 is more than 2 hours in length. Highly recommended.
Rating: Summary: Bad Boys 2 Review: It was bad boy flim you've got to see it.
