Rating: Summary: A Great Presentation of a classic family film! Review: Despite the appearance of the lackluster cardboard case, The Goonies DVD is a must for any fan of this classic family adventure film. The high points of this edition are an inventive and colorful selection menu, the excellent transfer print of the film used, and the feature-length audio commentary, which reunites the entire child-star cast of the film! They've even gone so far as to include both parts of the promotional Cindy Lauper "Its Good Enough" video that ran its course back in the good-old days, when MTV played music videos. The DVD is far from perfect, however, and there are a few minor disappointments. First, the audio commentary occasional switches from the movie to an in-studio shot of the actors discussing the film, which I personally found a bit distracting, although others may disagree. And while they take great pains to show the cast members talking, there are no filmographies or bios included in the Cast & Crew section, an excellent opportunity for a "Where Are They Now?" moment. Finally, while some deleted scenes are included with the extras, the cast invariably makes mention throughout the commentary of numerous scenes filmed that are not shown, even in rough form. Its always a let-down when a seven-hour rough cut is alluded to, yet only five minutes worth of deleted scenes (and no outtakes) make it onto the disc. But these are all minor complaints, and in no way detract from one of the greatest kid's films ever made! Even if this DVD were a bare-bones release, it would still be worth picking up!
Rating: Summary: Wow. Review: Now there is word of a sequal witht he original cast 16 years later (See thegoonies.com). Along with 'the monster squad', a similar film, they make up my youth. You see, with a dvd we see finally the mind behind it! Also, we get to see the octopus, which was referenced by the asian 007 wannabe, when asked what the favourite part was by a reporter in the movie, depite being cut out! Buy this dude, it will change your life. If you are a parent, get it for your kids. It's a classic. Snoogans and a good noonch, Brodie.
Rating: Summary: gooniefan Review: I love this movie, but am disappointed with the version on DVD. It should've been the "disney" version with the extra footage added into the movie......the ultimate cut version it should've been. However, I do love the film and love the fact that the deleted scenes were included, as an extra..... both Cyndi videos are fantastic and I am glad Part one and two are included. I would've rated this higher had it been a version, like the disney one, that contained ALL the scenes.
Rating: Summary: Hey You Guys!!!This is a great DVD Review: What most of us have been waiting for is finally here...Goonies on DVD. Complete with Commentary with all the goonies, deleted scenes, Cindi Lauper double music video, Behind the scenes documentry, this DVD was definately buried in One-Eyed Willy's treasure chest. This family action adventure is great to send down to the younger generation and for the parents as well. The Goonies will last forever on DVD, and a must have for any collection. You will be satisfied enough to re-live the adventure and show it to others for the first time.
Rating: Summary: Goonies DVD Review: Good overall, but still didnt have all the deleted/cut scenes on the dvd. Only had some of them.
Rating: Summary: My childhood favorite! Review: This has always been one of my favorite movies! It is a true classic, and I have seen it so many times that I have lost count. A bunch of kids go on a treasure hunt, with a bunch of bad guys on their tails. Great action-adventure film for all ages! If you haven't seen it, see it soon. I cannot wait for the DVD release, which contains deleted scenes, and a music video of the Cyndi Lauper song, "Goonies R Good Enough". It also contains a commentary track featuring a majority of the cast members! Goodie, goodie.
Rating: Summary: "Hey, you guys!" Review: This is by far one of the best movies ever made! Sloth is my favorite character. I love the way he shouts "Hey, you guys!" It's hilarious! Chunk is a close second with his "truffle shuffle". If you haven't seen this movie, go buy it. You will love it! If you have seen it and you loved it, I suggest Big Trouble In Little China. It's even better than The Goonies!
Rating: Summary: Still Goony After All These Years Review: The Goonies still rock! My jaw dropped when I saw the pirate ship set again. They really do not make films like this anymore. CGI should stand for (Cashcows Gone Insane), because what was done on this film with just a modest budget far surpasses most $100million epics from the past decade... Kids deserve entertainment that widens the avenue of the imagination, not weakens it. Parents take note: If this film was made today it would have received a PG-13 rating. You tell me if that's a good thing. I for one don't. This is how kids really act and really sound. If you deny that, you deny reality. Fantasy should highlight reality, not glaze over it.
Rating: Summary: The Goonies R' Good Enough! Review: "the Goonies" is a great flick. It is filled with thrills, chills and laughter. All of the children actors are great. The first time I saw this movie I was rolling with laughter. The DVD is great and the best part is the special features. However, I wish they would've left in the "Octopus" scene, it was great! "The Goonies" is a great movie not to be missed. Kids and adults will love it!
Rating: Summary: A Decent DVD with an excellent remastering Review: First things first, The quality of the remastering is excellent. I didn't expect it to be so clear. You can be sure that you won't be bothered by a poor remastering or image degeneration. The commentary is good, there are a lot of "easter eggs" about the making of the film and insight as to what went on behind the scenes as well as what was omitted in the final cut. I would have personally preferred if the (now much older) cast members had recorded their comments on different tracks, they often spoke over each other and the soundtrack came out crowded. Also, some of the actors spoke more or controlled the dialogue. Sean Astin disappears about half-way through the commentary and I really can't remember any commentary from Ke Huy Quan (data). The missing scenes are very cool, but there isn't an option to play the film with them on (like the X-Men DVD). And they are labeled as "outtakes" which kind of gives you the impression you are going to see flubs and bad takes. Still there's enough extra material here to overturn any reservations. Overall, if you are a goonie fan you need to get this DVD.
