Summary: Blazing Saddles - from the Legendary Mel Brooks
Review: Perhaps the best Movie Mel Brooks Has made. A funny "Spoof" of the western movies and the racial antics from the time. The Movie is very funny and Is about a Group of people who want to run townfolk out of "ROCK-RIDGE" so they can put a railroad through the center of it. They try to run the town folk out of ROCK-RIDGE by appointing a black sheriff,(played by Cleavan Little) who insted saves the town for the town folk and run the bad guys out of town. plenty of classic Mel Brooks comedy and gags. Tons of Classic scenes like "The Campfire Scene". A Mel Brooks true timeless Classic.

Summary: Tasteless But Funny
Review: Plays like an ennactment of one of those tasteless joke books set to a Western theme. Not for everyone. Even fans of this sort of thing have to be in a certain mood.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: No outtakes and no full commentary by Brooks!
Review: The film Blazing saddles is one of the best post counter-culture comedies ever made (written by Mel Brooks and comedian Richard Pryor). It is wonderfully surrealisic near the end with the western characters going to see a film called Blazing Saddles at the movie thater. The proibl;ems with the DVD extras are all in my title. By outtakes I meant scenes of the actors screwing up their lines not the deleted scenes in the extra features.

Summary: One of the great comedy classics!
Review: This is a comedy classic. Mel Brooks's send-up of popular westerns is not only funny, but it is socially relevant, in a warped sort of way.

Cleavon Little and Gene Wilder make a great team as the newly-appointed (black) Sheriff and the local drunk/washed-up gunfighter, out to save a town that doesn't want them. Brooks includes some of his standard actors, like Harvey Korman, Madeline Kahn, and himself (all of whom are hilarious), and adds some great cowboy-types like Slim Pickens and Burton Gilliam.

Mel Brooks fit as many facets of contemporary culture into this movie as he could, and lampooned them mercilessly. Racism, politics (and philandering politicians), westerns, inbreeding (everyone in Rock Ridge is named Johnson), even the new (at the time) idea of baseball players putting their names on the back of the uniforms (GOV on the governor's back) was incorporated into this movie, making for something everyone can enjoy.
There are some myopic individuals out there who are offended by Blazing Saddles, because of its racial content. The "N-word" is used liberally, and several other stereotypes are depicted. What these people fail to see is that the only characters in this movie with any brains are the ones who are tolerant. This is Brooks's most brilliant move: to hit the viewer over the head with humor, while subtly suggesting that we CAN all get along.

I've seen this movie so many times, I've virtually memorized the whole thing, but it never fails to make me laugh. From the first scene on the railroad ("I don't hear no singin'") to the last scene in Hollywood, this movie is great. Every time I watch this movie, there's something new or different to laugh at.

Summary: "MONGO LIKE CANDY
Review: This movie had me laughing from start to finish. From the quicksand to the beans there is no better movie for out of bounds humor and finding a lighter side of some very serious topics. Would it make it today? Probably not. But if you want pure laughter, bawdy humor, and an ending that is like no other this one is for you.

Summary: No Sacred Cows here...
Review: This movie is a classic.... It took every sacred cow and idea of political correctness and burned it like a fine steak. You find yourself laughing at things that in polite society people just don't laugh at. I have read the other reviews that put down this "30th Anniversary Special Edition". But if your buying any movie for the added commentaries, I'd say don't buy the movie. Blazing Saddles Needs no Commentaries, the movie says it all.... either you'll love it, or you'll be offended by it. If your offended by it well no amount of talking by Mel Brooks will change that. But if you get it.... if you really get the joke, then you will spend the whole time laughing histerically like I did. There is really no need to have some long winded commentary.

So in short while I might even agree with the person who didn't like the Commentary part of this edition. I purchased my copy for the MOVIE. And I was not disappointed. Again, plan to either laugh until you pee yourself... or to be offened.

Summary: By far, Mel Brooks all-time best!
Review: This was definitely Mel Brook's crowning achievement. Unfortunately you could never release a movie like this today in our "politically correct" environment. Although Cleavon Little and Gene Wilder were terrific (these are common-clave people. You know, MORONS!), it is the supporting cast that truly made this the all-time classic it is today. Slim Pickens first line in the movie is unforgettable, Harvey Korman's hilarious bad guy (that's HEDLEY!), Madeline Kahn's deadpan impersonation of Marlene Dietrich, and Alex Karras as dimwitted Mongo all contribute to the nonstop hijinks. All are hilarious and each of them steals the show at some point in the film. That part where Mongo punches out the horse is a classic clip. One terrific character in the film not mentioned in other reviews here is frontier gibberish-uttering Gabby Johnson, a dead-on spoof of Gabby Hayes, who appeared in pretty much every Western film from the turn of the last century up through the Roy Rogers era. But the true gift of this film is that every kind of humor is used, from subtle situational humor to in-your-face slapstick comedy. Truly a funny movie that is appreciated by several generations today and will continue to be so in the future.
