Summary: She Dared To Dream!
Review: The skits of the unpopular, ugly, catholic school girl, Mary Katherine Gallagher(Molly Shannon) on Saturday Night Live have always been my favorite. When the movie came out I was waiting to see it, but the theather next to me only plays certain movies so they didn't get that one in. When it came out for rental I rushed to the rental store and grabbed a copy. I LOVED IT! The cast was great and it was all put together nicely.

Superstar is about a girl in a Catholic high school that has the dream of being famous and have a big Hollywood type kiss. But at school no onw likes her and when she walks down the hall she gets made fun of. Her remark to all of this is "Did you know that I'm rubber and your glue so anything you say bounces off of me and sticks right back on you? So put that in your back pocket". The boy she likes, Sky,(Will Ferrel's character) is the most popular guy in school but hes dating the most popular girl, Evian(played by Elaine Hendrix). She gets the job at the local rental store as the Rewind Girl so she can study all the movies that need to be rewound. As the movie goes on Mary gets put into Special Ed. and makes a best friend, Helen. Helen is a really hyper kind of person. When they are having lunch they see that they are putting up a sign for a chance to "be an extra, in a movie with psitive morel values". Marys chance to stardom! She decides to try out but when asking her grandmother if she can, she says absolutly not. She then tells Mary to have parents were stomped to death at a step dancing compition. The next day Mary still trys out...The rest is so histarical that i don't want to tell you. So go rent this movie right away. And enjoy it like I did. I hope you like it and thanks for taking your time to read my review. SUPERSTAR!!!

Summary: I laughed, I cringed, I was awestruck.
Review: First off, this movie is a guilty pleasure of mine. It's bad, and I liked it, and I refuse to apologize for that.

Technically, it's bad for the standard reasons: unrealistic acting, pretty predictable plot, yedda yedda. It's good because, to my mind, the cast and crew knew of the weaknesses and decided to hold up a mirror to teenage ostracism and oddities within that framework.

I first saw this film while eating at a restaurant: it came on TV, and the only reason I left is because I was on my lunch break and had to get back to work. I was spellbound. For all this movies faults, Molly Shannon knew what she was doing. She made such a ridiculously lame and pathetic character that pretty much anyone could laugh at her, and yet took pretty much every piece of embarassment and paranoia regarding teen years and trying to fit in, stuffed them into this movie and also made a character who I could sympathize with while thinking, "well, at least I wasn't _that_ bad."

A friend of mine actually gave me kudos for being able to sit through this movie for those very reason. She just *won't*, for fear that she'd die of embarassment if she did. And yet, there's a feeling of "and guess what: you got through that part of your life anyway, didn't you?" towards the end of the movie that makes the whole ordeal worthwhile.

That's what this is: an ordeal film. It's likable without being, well, artistically good, but you've got to have the stomach for seeing little echos of a nerdy past in it. I guess it's also good therapy: if you can forgive Mary Katherine Gallagher for being the way she is, you can certainly forgive yourself for being a social misfit.

Summary: Hilarious in its genre!
Review: Saturday Night Live star Molly Shannon brings her character Mary Katherine Gallagher to this comedy blast. Mary Kaherine Gallagher just wants a romantic Hollywood kiss. Mary Katherine decides that the only way to be kissed is to become one of those people getting little kisses around campus a lot. When Catholic Teen Magazine holds a talent show at her school, Mary must prove that she has many talents that others have overlooked and she just might fulfill her dreams of becoming a Superstar! Will Ferrel also co-stars as the school popular hunk that all the women faint over and adore. This movie is great for any fan of Mary Katherine Gallagher on SNL or any person looking for a fun-filled riotous comedy.

Summary: Fairly bad
Review: Mary Katherine Gallagher is an uncomfortable, uncool, venemous Catholic schoolgirl who dreams about stardom and dating the school stud. This film does its part to uphold the proud tradition of (bad) movies derived from SNL material. Molly Shannon does great prat falls, but there is little else to recommend this bizarre, armpit-sniffing character. The plot is nothing and goes nowhere.

Summary: A TALENT THAT REACHES FAR
Review: I saw this movie on tv and definetely will buy the dvd. I am from Chile, a small country in South America, and I can tell you that Molly Shannon does have a lot of talent. We just didn't laugh watching this movie, but cried! It was so hard the way we laughed that we started to cry. The movie is one of the funniest and creatives of its kind in years. Having one of the Kids in the Hall is a plus certainly. This is a must for all the people with good sense of humor. The sceene of Molly telling her sins to a priest in the church, at the hand with a recreation of a Sally Field character is simply outstanding! Well done! And enjoy!

Summary: Worst. Movie. Ever.
Review: Words cannot describe how horrible this movie is. The writing is awful, the acting is worse, and the plot is just plain stupid! Do not waste your time watching this movie! I wish the SNL producers would learn their lesson by now: 10 minute skits do not translate well into 90 minute movies, especially when the skit is not funny in the first place. Mary Katherine Gallagher is the worst character ever to stink up the silver screen, and I pray we've seen the last of her.

Summary: Good Movie With a Lesson!
Review: Not Bad! Superstar was a great film and not only did it entertain us with Mary Catherine Gallagher (Molly Shannon) acting in her unusaul and weird ways (Making out with a tree, Doing TV impressions) But it also taught us that if you set a goal in life, you should work hard and acheive it, like Mary did!

Mary was an Unusual girl, but all her life she wanted a kiss. Not just any kiss, a big, juicy, long kiss like in the movies!! Mary tries her best to convince people that she is a "Superstar" but everytime she tries, people think of her less. Not only is she in love with the same guy that the most popular girl in school is in love with! Don't worry Mary, we still love you!

In conclusion, this film really gave me a good laugh.

Summary: SUPER STAR IS BORN!
Review: Mary is a normal catholic highschool girl. she wishes to be kissed by some hunky guy named Sky. but the thing is sky already has a girlfriend(Evion). the bratty popular girl. in order to get Sky's attention she will have to become a superstar! I like the part where she daydreams that everybody in the cafeteria is dancing with her.if you want to find out what happens at the end watch the movie!

Summary: In a word: STUPID
Review: This movie has to rank as one of the worst I have ever seen. Giving it 1 star is being gracious (they don't have a selection for 0 stars). This movie might have had a chance if the supposedly high school students didn't look like they were 50 years old....

Summary: outrageous comedy!
Review: Poor Mary Katherine Gallagher! She's the most unpopular girl at St Monica's school, she's a klutz and has a habit of kissing trees and stop signs. But, she's a SUPERSTAR!

Molly Shannon (NEVER BEEN KISSED) takes her beloved "Saturday Night Live" character to the big screen in this cute, hilarious comedy.

When Catholic Teen Magazine sponsors a talent contest at St Monica's, Mary Katherine feels sure that she will win, and get to kiss super-dancer school stud Skye Corrigan (Will Ferrell). However, there's Skye's bulemic girlfriend Evian (Elaine Hendrix - THE PARENT TRAP, ROMY & MICHELE'S HIGH SCHOOL REUNION) to deal with, and the rest of the A-group.

But when Mary is put into Special Education after an incident with Evian, it seems her SUPERSTAR dreams might never come true...

A fantastic, big-hearted comedy. It's a real winner, despite receiving less-than-thrilling reviews. I really love it, and Shannon is a comedy legend.

Also starring Glynis Johns (MARY POPPINS, WHILE YOU WERE SLEEPING), Harland Williams and Mark McKinney.
