Rating: Summary: Classic Mockumentry Review: This is a great movie mocking the music industry. My one complaint is the DVD extras. Obviously not enough to take it down a star, but the cut scenes were for the most part cut for good reason. The only abandoned subplot I liked was the one about Derek Smalls wife divorcing him and taking out full page adverts about it. p.s. If you check out Criterion's page they say it's not their fault that it is out of print. They say they just lost the rights.
Rating: Summary: A classic comedy Review: This is a classic comedy that will have you memorizing all the lines throughout the whole movie!!!!! Excellent parody of rock and roll.
Rating: Summary: How can it be out of print!!!!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?! Review: I can't believe that this movie is out-of-print! This movie is awesome and has been un-available for a long time on VHS. Now the DVD is gone too!? People are paying $200+ for this video (VHS and DVD). This is money the studio is LOSING. Lets write the studio and tell them to re-release this video again!
Rating: Summary: Not perfect, but funny!! Review: I'm still surprised people think this is a real band. That only says how real the film looks and feels (which is an obvious complement to Rob Reiner and teh cast). I will say I laughed a lot as well (I love the whole 11 bit and the cuccumber.) Problem is, even though I laughed a lot, it's not a movie I could watch over and over again. And weird enough, I haven't placed my finger on why. Criterion disc is worth getting if you can!!!
Rating: Summary: ELEVEN STARS Review: Only one person rating this video didn't get it, so he gave it a one star. This ought to tell you something. This is one of the funniest satire films ever made. Though it helps, it is not mandatory to have been in a garage rock band in your life to understand the hilarious characters in this flick. This is Rob Reiner's finest film making moment. He will never duplicate this genius again.
Rating: Summary: SPONTANEOUS COMBUSTION! Review: ...is just one of the many bizzarre ways they have lost a long list of Drummers. This video is a must see/have for anyone who has been a fan of any type of rock music, not just heavy metal. This is one of the most cleverly funny movies I have ever seen. The DVD is a great collectors item, all of the extra on side 2 are hilarious (especially the original 20 minute demo reel). Final Note: please don't get ripped off when you buy this, I have seen people paying as much as $90 for this at on-line auctions. Even thought this is "out of print", you can still find it for sale in stores that had large stocks of it (it will just take some careful searching). As of 8-8-99 I was able to buy it at the very first mall I went to (for the original price of $50.00).
Rating: Summary: FUNNY! Review: This movie has to be the funniest movie I have ever seen! It is so funny, I fell off my chair!
Rating: Summary: NIGELROCKS Review: Rob Reiner has never been better. Subtlety is the key to great comedy; shearer, mckean and guest deliver.I love the scene with the midget.
Rating: Summary: Getting an actual spinal tap would probably be better. Review: Getting an actual spinal tap would probably be better than sitting through this mockumentary about the decline in popularity of the british rock group Spinal Tap. The one star is for the only funny part in this movie(cucumber). The parts that aren't funny are not just boring, but they are unbearable to watch. Concert after concert, the redundant songs that are dull and annoying. I am truly sorry I had to watch this movie and I'm writing this so you can save your money and time. If you want to see a good mockumentary check out And god Spoke, a classic.
Rating: Summary: Instant classic Review: Was this a funny movie or what! I love the part with the cucumber. The best aspect of the movie is that it has no point at all - it's just unforgettable ramblings! ("Ya see, these go up to 11...") What was also great is that it was directed by Rob Reiner, who is a genius and directed THE greatest movie ever The Princess Bride. Check this out - you won't regret it!
