Review: Mrs. Doubtfire, while it's not the best movie I've ever seen, is a well done movie, with an original story and fantastic acting. Robin Williams could be at one of his best edges in this film. It is worth the time to see, if you enjoy comedy and some drama. This movie is worth the time.

Summary: Who Else But Williams Could Pull This Off?!?
Review: Probably no one else could! Robin Williams, as they say, pulls off a tour de force as Mrs. D.! What makes this picture extra special is the fact that we care very much about ALL the characters. Restaurant scene with Robin as the quick-change artist is required viewing by any fan who loves comedy! Hilarious!! Pierce Brosnan gives a nicely low-key performance. Everyone needs to see this one! Great fun for every family member!

Summary: Pretty funny
Review: Mrs. Doubtfire is a film about a man who can only see his children a few times a week, and gets so desperate to see them more often, that he dresses up as a 60 year old British nanny. He is divorced from his wife and in desperation, poses as a nanny to clean her house and watch her children. The film has many genuinly hilarious moments - ranging from sick humor to drama. The last half hour of the film is funniest. I recommed this film to people 7-18 years old.

Review: Mrs. Doubtfire may be a couple of years old, but I still love it. I saw it for the first time when I was in high school and I went and bought it after that. I come from a "broken home" as well and to see the hostility from Lydia was understandable. True, some may only be able to handle watching the movie once or twice, but then there are people like me who are true fans :) Pierce Brosman is stellar in this movie. And for someone who is in their 40's he is pretty hot :) (I'm 23 in case you care to know, hee hee!).

Summary: When it comes to entertainment, nothing else matters
Review: Robin Williams stars as Daniel Hillard, a gifted voiceover actor who shows great love for his children, but is unable to keep a steady job. When his wife (Sally Field) asks him for a divorce, Daniel is left in an unfortunate situation. He is only allowed to see the children once a week and he is not satisfied with that. He therefore sees his chance when Miranda tries to hire a housekeeper. He asks his brother (Harvey Fierstein), a makeup-artist, to turn him into a woman. He then becmes Mrs. Doubtfire, a warm, old British nanny who becomes the kids' best friend. Mrs Doubtfire is great fun. Although you have to say that it is not a top example of movie making, it offers two hours of undeniably solid entertainment. There are times when sheer entertainment and enjoyment win out over the technical and intellectual aspects of film making. The movies real triumph, I believe, is in its realism of divorce and its effect on parents and especially their children. So there are many funny moments but just as many times where we get to think about what divorce means to all those involved. I was moved by it, I laughed quite a bit, and overall had a good time. When it comes to entertainment, nothing else matters.

Summary: Robin Williams and Sally Field star in Mrs. Doubtfire
Review: Mrs. Doubtfire stars Robin Williams and Sally Field. When the movie opens, we see Daniel Hillard (Robin Williams) doing two voices for a cartoon. But Daniel has added a line. He gets into a fight with the cartoon's director (Terence McGovern). Daniel Hillard quits.

And heads for home. His three minor children are coming home. Thier names are Lydia, Chris, Natalie Hillard. It's Chris' birthday. And as a surpise, Daniel throws Chris a party. Daniel's wife said no to because of her son's report card.

Her name is Miranda (Sally Field). While during the party a neigbor (Polly Hoilday) has called Miranda at work and complains about the wild party. Miranda shows up home early to find a cop has been called. She finds Daniel Hillard up on a table during a dance with Chris and un-named boy.

After the party, Daniel and Miranda are downstairs cleaning up and fighting. The kids are by the stairs. Miranda wants a dirvoce. And she gets one. Miranda gets custody of the 3 kids. And Daniel gets a visitation rights on Saturdays only. Daniel gets assigned to a court liaison. His court liaison is Mrs. Sellner (Anne Haney). And with the help of his brother named Frank (Harvey Fierstein), Daniel gets turned into Mrs. Doubtfire.

Summary: Funny Movie But A Little Too Risque For Kids
Review: This review refers to the DVD version of Mrs. Doubtfire. Robin Williams is hysterical, but also manic, and with his raunchy humor at times, some of the material is inappropriate for children. The saving grace is that kids younger than teenagers won't get the at-times raunchy dialogue. There is also some cursing in the movie.

The DVD version contains 30+ minutes of deleted scenes. I agree that these scenes should have been deleted. They either weren't very funny or they were downright dark and depressing, i.e. when Daniel shows up late at his daughter's spelling contest and proceeds to make a loud, embarrassing scene at her school and another scene when he laces into the nosey neighbor (when taking a cab home dressed as Mrs. Doubtfire but is "unmasked"). The one funny deleted scene is his Louisiana accent in the kitchen when he peppers the jambalaya.

Also, the movie is a little hard to believe, for instance, that it takes 3+ hours to get into makeup in real life, but in the movie, he is able to do it in a matter of seconds. Also, they made mistakes within some Mrs. Doubtfire scenes like where "she" is wearing a different outfit at the end of a scene than what "she" was wearing when the scene started as well as "her" having messed-up hair then perfectly-coiffed hair 2 seconds later, which is distracting.

Overall, the Daniel character isn't very likeable, but he is lovable as Mrs. Doubtfire. The interviews are interesting to watch as well as the makeup application and tests. I love this movie, but it is at times very inappropriate for kids to watch, hence, its PG-13 rating. Robin Williams is a genius, but there are moments you do catch him acting in virtually all of his movies including this one. It's when he is serious that you catch him acting, but he is brilliant when he is being funny. A great movie to own if you edit it with the fast forward or mute button around younger children.

Summary: Very overrated, predictable
Review: Why all of the hoopla over this film? The comedy bits were all stolen from other films. How many times have you seen the changing costumes back and forth between two dinners at the same time bit? The writers must take us for idiots. This film didn't have even a speck of originality.

Summary: DVD Edition Excellent Has deleted scenes which are hilarious
Review: This DVD edition has over 30 minutes of deleted scenes.

I think that some of them are funnier than other scenes in the movie. These deleted scenes are the funniest things I have seen in a long time. It just makes me upset that they were cut from the original release.

Possible reasons for deletion in my opinion are

1. Pacing (making the movie shorter)

2. Not essential to the plot

I highly reccomend this edition!!!

Summary: Mr Doubt Is Fired
Review: I liked this a lot, you probably know what its all about by now, but just in case ou dont heres how it goes. A couple with three kids just got divorced, on the sons 13th birthday(played by Matt Lawrence) The only way the father Daniel (Robbin Williams) can see his kids regularly is to be the housekeeper his ex wife needs. He gets fixed up like an old lady and uses one of his many talents in voices to sound like one too. He applies over the phone with her and gets the job as Mrs Doubtfire. Its pretty funny, and touching too. I recomend it to...you.
