Summary: Great movie, lousy packaging
Review: Since Animal House is certainly one of the greatest of its genre, I had great expectations for this special DVD edition. However, there is no documentation inside the package, other than an single leaf advertisement. I found this strange, not even a flimsly single sheet noting the contents. When you boot the DVD, there is no way to avoid the embedded previews other than fast forward, which in future viewings will be obsolete and annoying. The "special features" include interesting interviews about the making of the film, but also include a mock up of a "where are they now" that attempts to be humorous, and sadly at the end does no justice to the untimely death of John Belushi. A great film with a terrible DVD package.

Summary: Animal House Will Make You Shout
Review: Animal House is the wacky tale of the Delta fraternity at Faber College that just doesn't seem to fit in. Instead of having sophisticated dinners with their pledges, they decide to throw a huge party and basically if you show up, you are in. Once you pledge Delta however, you need to watch out because these guys could get you in a lot of trouble: from stealing meat from a grocery store, getting you in trouble with the dean, angering your ROTC leader, forcing you to steal your brother's car, and ruin the homecoming parade. If you can't keep up, it's better for you to find a frat that is a little more refined than this group of delinquents. This movie is a non-stop laugh fest in which you better not eat or drink because you will end up choking or spitting it back out. A definite must see every week or so because you will never believe what these guys will do for a good time and it causes you to have one as well. When it comes to showing Animal House at parties there is almost no competition because partying is all that the guys in Delta want to do. I haven't met a person that didn't like Animal House and if I ever do I would automatically assume they are a nerd because that means they either have no sense of humor or don't like to have fun.

Summary: i'm a zit, get it!!!!
Review: a funny as they come and probably the best Lampoon next to Vaction and Loaded Weapon 1. John Belushi, you gotta love his character and my favorite moment of his is when hes spying on the sorority girls, funny as hell. other funny parts include shooting at the horse, Stephen Furst in the horse pen, where Belushi's trying to cheer Furst up by bashing bottle over his head and the part where the man with the guitar is singing, Belushi takes his guitar and smashes his guitar against the wall and then says. "sorry", ah hell its all funny

Summary: "I'm a zit! Get it?"
Review: To make a long story short: I absolutely loved this movie. It will tickle your funny bone time and again, it's John Belushi at his very best. The end is hysterical with the Deltas destroying the parade. So grab a copy of this dvd and take it home and let John Belushi bring down your house. Enjoy. I always do.

Summary: Still number 1
Review: Animal House. It has paved the way for dozens of movies. American Pie. Road Trip. Old School. Without Animal House, these movies would never exist. And Animal House didn't just introduce a new style, it perfected it. With an all-star cast that wouldn't have been the same movie without, to memorable comic gags, this movie will never get old. This movie could be released in theatres this year and no one would know it was made in 1978. Even if you have never experienced college life (like myself) you will love this movie. You'll laugh, laugh, and laugh some more. This movie is that good.

Summary: Couldn't Quite Love It
Review: I hadn't actually seen Animal House all the way through until I bought this DVD. It left me with a bit of an ambivalent feeling; there were a couple of instances of actual guffaws but ultimately it didn't sustain it for me. I find the Blues Brothers, made in the same time frame more enjoyable. The blame for the disaffection probably rests in the numerous spoofs, various homages, and references in other popular culture offerings to Animal House that have appeared over the years. When the original is viewed with the heightened expectations it somehow pales a bit. I well understand that this is considered a low-brow comedy cultural watermark film, but I couldn't make the connection required to love it. Belushi's rousing speech at the end is masterful though. :)

Summary: we loved the movie, and thanx for the extras
Review: The only thing I had against the Double Secret Probation Edition was the extras were too short. It was so much fun watching the actors in the Reunion documentary. They could hardly keep from laughing. Bless 'em! Were we really that young? We loved it!!!!!!

Summary: I (state your name), hereby give "Animal House" 5 Stars!!!
Review: Animal House is problably one of the funniest comedies ever made!!! There are so many classic characters (Bluto, Flounder, Pinto, Boon, Eric Stratton, D-Day, Neidermayer, Dean Wormer, Greg Marmalard, etc.), and so many classic lines in this movie that it is a MUST HAVE for any fan of comedy, college fraternities or John Belushi!!! This movie was directly responsible for me attending and graduating from college (unlike the characters in the movie, I hade a GPA considerably higher than 0.0).

Summary: The Way College Should be
Review: Animal House was filmed at Universal Studios and released in 1978. It run time is 109 minutes; it was filmed in color and was directed by John Landers. It starred John Belushi as Bluto the leader of Delta house fraternity and John Vernon as Dean Wormer their archrival. Animal house is classic comedy that is as funny now as it was when it debuted 25 years ago. This move may not have started some of the crazes of the late 70's and early 80's, but it definitely made them more popular. The two I remember the fondest are the food fights in every high school cafeteria inspired by Bluto's actions when he became a giant zit, and all of the Toga parties that took place on college campuses. This movie also has the classic road trip in it. Animal House is one those rare comedies that you can watch repeatedly and enjoy increasingly each time. I consider Animal House to be a must see for everyone.

Summary: Toga,Toga,Toga......
Review: National Lampoon's Animal House was released in 1978 by universal studios. John Landis directed this rated R,109 minute film, that was made in color. The films leading actor was John Belushi who played the role of Bluto. Other notable stars from this film Tim Matheson as Otter, Tom Hulce as Pinto, Cesare Danova as The Mayor, Peter Riegert as Boon, Stephen Furst as Flounder, Karen Allen as Katy, Kevin Bacon as Chip, and Donald Sutherland as Professor Jennings. In 1979 this film won the peoples choice award for favorite non-musical motion picture.

Summary: John Belushi and cast are great. They go from one great reason to another to drink and party. They stay in constant trouble with Dean Wormer and the boys from the Omega House. Then they have the party to end all parties, did someone say toga? All through the 1980's frat parties would never be the same. Add a great road trip, a some fun at the town parade and you have a great movie. If you have never seen this movie and you like to laugh, you owe it to your self to pick this one up. Look for Kevin Bacon in his first big part, "Thank you sir my I have another." Great movie one to buy do not rent, you will want to see again and again.
