Rating: Summary: No chemistry! Review: My viewing of this movie was eagerly anticipated but that anticipation turned out to be the highlight. Not only is the plot disappointing, there is just no chemistry between DeNiro and Murphy. In fact, most of the time DeNiro looks bored and Murphy overacts.
Rating: Summary: Must See Review: For those who liked Meet the Parents and Analyze This, Showtime is a very well written "Cop" comedy. In my opinion, Robert DeNiro and Eddy Murphy together make this better than Beverly Hills Cop.
Rating: Summary: "It's............SHOWTIME!!!!! Review: Showtime is the Reality-TV era's answer to Cop/Buddy movies like the Lethal Weapon series. When a dedicated detective (Robert De Niro) shoots a TV camera during a bust, the Network offers the LAPD a choice: A lawsuit, or the use of De Niro for a reality based show. The camera-shy de Niro is not thrilled, to say the least. And when he finds out that he will be partnered up with Trey "Ice Trey" Sellers, a frustrated (Bad!) Actor/Beat Cop, the fur starts to fly. Murphy and De Niro are on the trail of a vicious Club Owner who is in posession of a batch of specially made guns; They fire such large rounds that they are capable of knocking down houses. You can imagine what they'll do to a bullet-proof vest... Showtime has some really great action sequences; The climax was actually something that I had never seen before in a movie. Points for originality! The real selling point is the pairing of Eddie Murphy and Robert de Niro. The two are priceless when they are onscreen together, and there are more laugh-out-loud moments in this film than I could count. (Sequel, PLEASE!!!!) William Shatner plays himself in a small cameo: He's there to teach the guys how to act like TV Cops- Hood Jumping, Door Rolling, etc. Just the spectacle of seeing Shatner, Murphy & De Niro in the same scene is funny.... And make sure to stick around for the outtake reel after the film ends. Great stuff! There should be one HELL of a DVD for this film....
Rating: Summary: Lots of laughs! Review: This movie was lots of laughs from beginning to end. It was a proof that a movie can be full of laughs without the use of four letter words in every other sentence. Murphy is wonderful in his role as Trey Sellars patrolman and would be actor whose dream is about to come true. Robert DeNiro is the detective he accidentally busts in a sting operation that is about to go down. From there the action and the laughs begin. I don't want to spoil your fun. Go and see the movie. I don't think you'll be sorry you did.
Rating: Summary: Very unfunny Film. Review: Real life television and unfunny jokes are the name of this unfunny film with Robert DeNiro being miscast with Eddie Murphy as two cops who are followed by a tabloid camera crew, including a director played by William Shatner, who has not appeared in a good movie for nearly 12 years.
Rating: Summary: Not oscar calibur, but what do you expect with a comedy? Review: Ebert said that Showtime is pretty much a rehashing of buddy-cop movies. I wouldn't know because I don't usually watch those movies...but who cares? This movie was just hilarious. DeNiro and Murphy were delightful on the screen together. The contrast of their characters and the eventual evolution of their relationship was pretty interesting. If you're thirteen or older, and you like comedy, then go see it. However, even though it was kept under wraps pretty well, there is quite a bit of violence in this movie that may frighten small children. Besides that, enjoy. =)
Rating: Summary: Lacking Everything Review: Let me first say, I want my money back. De Niro, you are a great actor. Please do not waste your talents like this. It's not that I dislike all action-comedies. I enjoy both the Lethal Weapon and Rush Hour series of films. This film, however, was a waste of my time. The acting was horrific, including De Niro. This film will probably end up the most disappointing of 2002. The basis of the film is of a reality television show based on the lives of two policemen, whom are played by Bob De Niro and Eddie Murphy. The cops, however, must have an antagonist and he happens to be very stupid. He may appear vicious as he is attempted to be portrayed, but is not nearly successful. The justice system has no effect on this picture since none of the logic behind the gun and behind the desk are explained. Shatner had more of a cameo role in this picture, since his screen time was a mere five to ten minutes. If you are still not convinced, thinking that the film will still have a few laughs, then let me tell you that they were very limited. I do admit laughing but very briefly and not often. For the makers of the film, I wonder if they ever even attended film school. I don't have a problem with De Niro doing comedies but I think he should stick to ones that actually are engaging and humourous, like "Meet the Parents."

Rating: Summary: VERY FUNNY Review: When a no-nonsense LAPD detective (Robert DeNiro) is forced to star on a reality-based TV show with a frustrated actor-turned-LAPD patrolman (Eddie Murphy), they find their lives turned upside down by a powerhouse producer (Rene Russo) and her very intrusive camera crew.
Rating: Summary: Funny, But Don't Expect Too Much Review: "Showtime" is one of those films where you can pretty much call out everything that's going to happen right before it happens. Very predictable. It is, however, good for a few laughs and an hour and a half of entertainment if you go into it not expecting too much. There are some good one liners and the comedy from Eddie Murphy and Robert DeNiro are strictly the same comedy you always see from them. Nothing new. Basically, the movie is about DeNiro being forced into doing a reality show about cops and having to be partnered with Eddie Murphy who he doesn't think is a good cop. That's about it. The plot is weak at best. The acting is good (due to the two main stars incredible acting ability and experience) but the talent is somewhat wasted on a poor script. There really isn't that much "action" one or two good action sequences, but even those aren't that exciting. Much more dialogue than anything else and when you factor a weak script into that scenario you get "Showtime" Again, the movie isn't that bad, but you just can't expect too much. It'll cure 90 minutes of boredom. I am an enormous Robert DeNiro fan and this is why I saw it even amidst the many bad reviews. Mr. DeNiro, please make a movie that isn't a comedy...I'm not saying your bad at comedy, but I'd like to see you back in a role you were born to play! Please stop wasting your talents on mediocore scripts. Go for the gold again!! The dvd is decent. Good picture and sound, not much in the way of extras. A commentary track but not with Eddie or Bob so basically worthless. My reccomendation is: Rent it don't Buy it.
