Summary: RUEHL RULES
Review: Michelle Pfeiffer is a mafia wife who's husband, a young hunky Alec Baldwin, is killed by jealous mob boss Dean Stockwell. Pfeifer than decides to get away from her gaudy fell-off-the-back-of-a-truck home furnishings and make a life for herself and her young son in a small apartment in a poor Manhattan neigborhood. Meanwhile, she unknowingly gets involved with an FBI agent, the mafia boss who killed her husband is crazy for her, and the mob boss's wife (Mercedes Ruehl) is just plain crazy. Every time her husband even looks at another woman she goes bananas. Ruehl steals everything but the lasagna and even the last scene will have you in stitches.

Summary: Charming and funny. And sooo 80's...
Review: Michelle Pfeiffer is good as the wife of a mobster who sees her chance to start a new life when her husband gets killed, but his boss (and murderer), Tony "The Tiger" Russo has the hots for her. At the same time, FBI thinks she was involved in the murder of her husband. Mercedes Ruehl is hilarious as Tony's wife. Joan Cusack has a small part as a mobster's wife, and Roma Maffia appears in one of the last scenes, as Angela's customer.

The movie, and Michelle Pfeiffer, is quite charming but the clothes, hair styles and earrings are hilarious. I can't recall having seen any movie that feels more 80's than this one. It's not great, but charming and funny. It's hard to choose between three and four stars.

Summary: Classic Mobster Comedy
Review: Michelle Pfeiffer not only beautiful, she is also perfect as a Long Island mobsters wife. She hates being around the other nosy wives who probably once came from Brooklyn. They have high hair, they're overly made up and speak like The Nanny. Alec Baldwin who plays her unfaithful husband is murdered over a side bimbo by mob boss Dean Stockwell. This would be Pfeiffers way out of the mob life she hates however Stockwell falls for her. Note a specificly hilarious performance by Mercedes Ruhel as the Dons wife. The laughs are nonstop as Pfeiffer moves to the slums of Manhattans Lower East Side just to get away. It hardly works and most of Manhattans shortcomings are made fun of. Great Cast and well directed. Unlike some movies that poke fun at the mob, this is the only masterpiece! Viva Long Island!

Summary: Great FILM!!!!
Review: One of Michelle Pfeiffer's earliest movies. She's a little thin than usual but she still looks beautiful. She is turning to be a great "mimicer" of accent, I love her accent. She got to play comedy and drama at the same time in one movie, so I believe this is one of her best ever. Maybe peopel who dont like watching movies about mob will have a second thought watching this movie, but I guarantee you that this movie is much more fun than you expect!!!! Matthew Modine, Mercedes Ruehl, and Dean Stockwell provide a marvellous support, they're all wonderful. A must see film and and must buy since I guarantee you that you won't get tired watching this film. I think one of the best films of the 80's!!!!

Summary: Married to the Dysfunctional Family -- Absolute Perfection!
Review: This and What About Bob may be the two best flawless and meaningful comedies ever made. Well, don't forget about Groundhog Day. Believe it or not, Michelle Pfeiffer at her very best; Matthew Modine is priceless. They all are priceless. Don't miss it!

Summary: Pfieffer shines!
Review: This is a great film. FUN FUN FUN and Funny too. Pfieffer does such a great job in this role, as does Alec Baldwin and Mathew Modine. A terrifically fun film.

Summary: A Kick in the Pants!
Review: This is just plain fun. As an Italian-American, I'm usually offended by mafia movies because they glorify violence and make all Italians members of the mob, but these mafioso are so stupid! It's about time someone made fun of them! Dean Stockwell shows that the talent he had as a child star is still there! He just needs the right vehicle. Looks like comedy is his thing. Michelle Pfeiffer is stunning and handles the comedy very well.

If you have the opportunity to rent this film, I encourage you to do so. It is smart, funny, and fast-paced.

Summary: I wanna divwohwse!!
Review: This is my favorite line from this movie- delivered in the a dead-on "lwong oisland" accent by stunning Michelle Pfeiffer (who looks great as a brunette). She is simply great as the mob wife who takes advantage of the untimeley death of her oily mobster husband (a great job by an early, thin Alec Baldwin), and moves to Manhattan's lower east side and a new life in a single apartment complete with bathtub in the kitchen only to find that her husband's boss (and killer- a deservedly Oscar Nominated Dean Stockwell) has pointed his roving, uh, eye in her direction. Add to the mix Matthew Modine as the FBI agent who falls for her (and who wouldn't- she is radiant in this), the ever-delightful Mercedes Ruehl as the crazy-in-love mob boss' wife, and Joan Cusack, Nancy Travis and Ellen Foley as her circle of "friends" (with their outsized makeup and huge mops of ratted hair, they look like some trio 0f '80's Long Island Medusas), as well as Oliver Platt as Modine's hapless partner, great Miami- kitsch locations and really great music and you will have two really fun-filled hours. Too bad Jonathon Demme got all stuffy and commercial with "Silence of the Lambs" and "Philadelphia"
