Summary: Not Really Bad!
Review: Annie is a good musical, yet not excellent. It has a good cast, good songs and singing and such fun to watch. Annie is a story of a little adorable orphan searching for her parents. Her adventures stretch from being in a horrid orphange to being taken in by the richest man in the world, Oliver Warbucks. Mostly what the story is about is a man trying to get a daughter and an orphan trying to get a family. Carol Burnett is the most hilarious Miss Hannigan. Aileen Quinn is so cute as the little Annie. Albert Finney is pretty darn good as Oliver. And Tim Curry is stupendous as Rooster. Enjoy all the silly fun as you witness the story of love and forgivness. Thanks for reading.

Summary: I Love This Movie!
Review: Little Orphan Annie is one of the greatest role models a child living in the nineties could have. I remember seeing the show for the first time, enraptured by the little girl my age who "stuck up her chin" and took whatever life dished out and was still able to help out less fortunate girls than herself. It was certainly a welcome change from many other forms of media encouraging females to be, well, stereotypically feminine. I thought it was the best thing in the world to see a child, a girl no less, stand up to adults with her spunky courage. It gives the young viewer a sense of power, kinship perhaps, to know that they aren't the only ones who have had a difficult time in life, to know that they could be a lot worse off. Perhaps some of the less positive reviewers could look at this from a child's perspective, see the movie with innocent, unjaded eyes. And while I first and last saw this film eight or so years ago, I am still profoundly moved by Little Orphan Annie's courage and strength, regardless of the feelings of so many others.

Summary: I hated it!
Review: I am surprised to see how many people actually enjoyed this horrible slice of cinema. Now, I have not been an "Annie" fan for long-- I saw my first production of it in the summer of '99, and I was so thrilled with it, I rented the movie right away. I was appalled almost right away. Here are my top 10 reasons for hating this movie: 10. "The Hard-Knock Life" sequence-- it looked like they were on a playground, not in an orphanage. 9. Toni Ann Gisondi-- I hated her as Molly. Just not cute enough. 8. The new arrangements of many of the songs. I especially disliked "I Don't Need Anything But You" and "I Think I'm Gonna Like It Here." 7. Ann Reinking-- Grace is supposed to be a soprano. Hello? 6. Punjab-- Okay, so he was a character in the comic strip, but there was absolutely no reason for him to be in this movie. 5. Carol Burnett-- What in the hell was that performance about? I love her in everything I've ever seen her in, except this. She was way too over the top, even for Miss Hannigan, and that's saying a lot considering it's already an over the top character. 4. The added songs. Personally, I disliked all of them, but one in particular comes to mind-- "Dumb Dog." 3. Annie hanging off a drawbridge-- don't even get me started. 2. Aileen Quinn-- vocally, she was halfway decent I suppose, but had all the charm and charisma of a rock, and all the acting skills necessary for portraying a wooden board. 1. The omission of "Tomorrow." Sure, they sang it over the opening credits, and sang the White House version, but it never really was a crucial part to the storyline, as in the play. "Tomorrow" is the best song of the whole show, and we, the audience, couldn't listen to it all because John Huston didn't like it. Personally, I preferred the Disney version of the film much better. Although it was shortened, it was much truer to the original story with a much more talented cast to tell that story.

Summary: One of my favorites growing up
Review: I even bought the book based on this movie. I will admit having never the chance to see New York, let alone the play that this movie is based upon, but that didn't stop me from learning all the words to the songs, and watching it over and over when cable tv brought it out. I even sat down in front of the tv with a tape recorder, and taped the songs from the movie(!) I liked it so much. "Tomorrow" is a wonderful song, and I thoroughly enjoyed Carol B's "Little Girls". My mother, however, was not pleased when I sang "Hard Knock Life" doing my share of the housework! I highly recommend this movie! It may not be the Wizard of Oz, or Gone with the Wind, but it is enjoyable family viewing.

Summary: Childhood favorite
Review: For as long as I can remember, Annie has always been my favorite movie. When I was a little girl and it was playing in the theaters, I must have seen that movie at least 20 times. Even now I love watching this movie. I will pass it on to my daughter and her daughter. It is a little girl's wonderland, to imagine the fancy world that Annie gets drawn into when she goes to live with Daddy Warbucks. And of course it wouldn't be the same if the girls from Miss Hannigan's orphanage don't have adventures of their own. This is definitely a classic musical that will be an all-time favorite for many years to come.

Review: This has to be one of the greatest movies I've seen! Don't let the other reviews bash on this show! Acting was good, Carol Burnett, Bernadette Peters, and Tim Curry are wonderful as the villians you will love to hate! The music is wonderful, my favorites being "Sign", "Hard-knock Life" and "Easy Street". Some people say this is overly profane, but that's not true! Four swear words are used throughout the entire show (Those all being the same not harmless word) And I must admit, you see a lot of underwear, but don't let this discourage you! Buy this today, I'm sure you will love it!

Summary: A Masterpiece
Review: I remember loving this movie when I was young, but then grew up and forgot about it....until I saw the new version by Disney. I immediately decided I must buy the 1981 version for my daughters (6 & 3). And, now they watch it at least 2 to 3 times per week. They absolutely love it. This version depicts how life was then and does not turn it politically correct, as does the new one. Anyone who sees the new one, should see this one before purchasing either. They may just come to love it as much as I did then and do now. "It shines like the top of the Chrysler Building!"

Review: When one of my daughters was little she used to focus on one movie at a time and watch it with me every day for months. The first of these was Annie. I saw Annie every day after work 8,436 consecutive days. We love you Miss Hannigan. A tumble with the Bundle. Is my brain going a little soft? Sometimes I have flashbacks - of Vietnamese snipers, of napalm, of Bolsheviks throwing bombs through windows and getting caught by little dogs named Sandy. Of little girls in red dresses holding their fists up menacingly. Anyway to my surprise I noticed something different every time I saw the movie. A lot of thought and professionalism went into it.
