Rating: Summary: Sickening and manipulative Review: An insulting vehicle displaying how great a person Robin Williams is. I can't believe anyone wouldn't want to take a shower after the scene where the "terminally ill" children show up to his hearing with the red noses on. How bad of a movie maker do you have to be to take a true story and make it unbelieveable. It's ironic that a movie which touts non-conformity is made up of formula and cliche. If you liked this movie, you need to examine your life and appreciation of art.
Rating: Summary: A good message Review: Patch Adams may have had cliches, may have been a bit too feel-good, and may have had too many predictable and/or one-dimentional characters. However, the message of the movie comes across loud and clear. That is, in the midst of all the hustle and bustle of life, we humans lose sight of our most basic need: love. As Patch loved his fellow humans, he received the love he needed to make his life worth living. And I loved the comparison of Karin's death to a caterpillar's metamorphosis into a butterfly. Being a butterfly lover and a believer in heaven, it was a beautiful metaphor. I give this movie five stars because the theme is so necessary for everyone to understand.
Rating: Summary: SKIP IT Review: IT TOOK ME SIX DAYS TO MAKE IT THROUGH THIS VIDEO. ROBIN WILLIAMS IS FUNNY AS USUAL, BUT HOW MANY TIMES CAN U LAUGH AT A GROWN MAN WITH A RED NOSE. IT MIGHT BE A TRUE STORY, BUT EVEN TRUE STORIES NEED SPRUCED UP IF THEY ARE GOING TO BE CONSIDERED ENTERTAINING
Rating: Summary: A knee-slapper tear-jerker ride Review: PATCH ADAMS is awesome! This movie will take you across the emotional spectrum and back again. The fact that it's based on a true story just adds to the effect. If you haven't read the book, get it. It's called GESUNDHEIT! and is written by Patch Adams himself--it is all about his lifetime quest to transform health care and is just as inspiring as the film.
Rating: Summary: Pashients? Review: What kind of schools do they have in North Dakota
Rating: Summary: It Was Good and the extra stuff was really good as well Review: This movie was very good, I'm surprised Robin Williams was not nominated for an Oscar. Robin Williams is a student studying to be a doctor. But he wants to make people laugh and feel good. The dean gets annoyed and does everything to get him out of the school. When he opens a house and treats people he crosses the line. ("You treat a diease, you win, you lose. You treat a person, and I guarentee you win, no matter what the outcome." Robin Williams)
Rating: Summary: SAD AND HAPPY Review: How can someone be so mean and coldhearted.Bald little cancer children? What if you had some horrible sickness?Wouldn't you want to be happy the last 3 weeks you had to live?My god some people can just not imagine how to be a good person.I thought this was a wonderful heartwarming movie to see as a family.I agree with what patch did, making people happy and someday people will relize how much better it is to be nice and make people happy then to be coldhearted and dull.
Rating: Summary: This is a must see. Review: If you can get past the Robin Williams do good Dr. rolls. This movie is a must see. It tells a story about Dr. pashient relationships. Pashients have names and Dr. are not better then the pashients. I wish more Dr feel the way Patch does, we would have alot healthier society if we all had Dr like Patch. Robbin does a good job in the movie he has just been playing too meny Dr. rools.
Rating: Summary: An excellent portrayal of humanity and proper medical ethics Review: Patch Adams is an inspirational movie. For those who enjoy Robin Williams, you will love his role in Patch Adams. Williams plays a medical student torn between the rules of medical school and the medical rules of his heart. It is not however, simply a movie about paying attention to patients. It is a movie about listening to oneself and over coming set backs in a bumpy road toward self satisfaction. Patch Adams should not be considered "just a movie" because movies entertain. It should be considered a lesson because it teaches human goodness and determination.
Rating: Summary: A must see if you've ever felt less than human as a patient Review: I heard about "Patch Adams" years ago when he first began practicing medicine and his unorthodox ways of "helping" his patients with humor. I felt then that more Doctors should take their "bedside manner" lessons from this man and after seeing the video, I am just as committed with that observation. "Patch Adams" may not be perfect cinematography, but it's still one of the best "feel good" movies of the year. Definately worth the rental fee....and a good family activity.
