Summary: The 70s have never been funner!
Review: I watched this movie over 10 times and I loved every minute of it. I'm into the seventies theme, and the fashions, music, and especially the teen heart throbs ( David Cassidy and Leif Garrett) made the movie fun to watch. It's a fun movie, I think it's neat, funny, and cute. If you are a fan of David Cassidy, Leif Garrett, or of the 70s then this is the movie for you.

Summary: Don't waste your money
Review: If you find yourself watching this movie, you must be bored out of your mind. I don't know why anyone would pay $76.49 for this poor excuse of a movie. If you REALLY want this movie wait until it comes on showtime or HBO and record it. Don't waste your money. If david cassidy wasn't in this movie it would really be flop.

Summary: Retro blast!
Review: If you were a kid in the 70's like me, then this film will bring back great memories. The film hits has just the right goofball tone. A fun parody, but you do get involved with the characters and their mission to find the Constitution. A great film for parties or a group of friends. This film played at midnights in LA for awhile, and seems to have an underground cult status. Alot more fun than Rocky Horror, which is too wierd for many of us. David Cassidy and Lief Garrett were well cast, playing their roles with the right irony. A satisfying ending wraps it up with " Saturday Night " blasting by the Bay City Rollers!

Summary: Horrible film!
Review: Just by chance I caught this movie on HBO about 8 years ago. Because I'm glunten for punishment I watched it and must admit - I was completely entertained! After it was over I concluded that I must own it and show all my friends. So I found when it was playing next and recorded it. Since then I have shown the movie to approximately 15 people and watched it over 4 dozen times. My video is now very worn out and I am dying to purchase the real thing. I'm on to do just that (and yes, I would pay some bucks for it)! It's a B-movie classic without a doubt!

Summary: A must for any "bad movie" party.
Review: Okay it's not "Gone With The Wind". Leonard Maltin thinks it's lame so I had to check it out. If you lived through the era of exploding Pinto's, David Cassidy, Leif Garrett and those wide AMC cars it's great mindless entertainment. The casting and subject match superbly. So let Leonard watch "The English Patient" one more time and check out "Spirit of '76". Choose it along with UHF (Weird Al), Martians Go Home (Randy Quaid), Frankenhooker and Motel Hell for a super "bad movie party".

Summary: WHAT?!
Review: The price is almost more outrageous than the actual movie!! I enjoyed the movie mostly because David Cassidy was in it (*sigh*), but I wouldn't pay $90 bucks for it. I taped it off TV! :-) END

Summary: WHAT AN EXCELLENT MOVIE! I DIE LAUGHING EVERYTIME I SEE IT!!

Review: The Spirit of '76 is GREAT. Lots of extra features, including "behind the scenes," some scenes that were cut, the Redd Kross "1976" music video, easter eggs throughout where you click on an unassuming item onscreen and get one comic or another (Paula Poundstone, Michael McKean, Bobby Slayton, Ben Stein...) talking about the 70s, and a running commentary by Carl and Lucas Reiner.

The movie itself was a little bit less fun than on the first coupe of viewings (I first saw it in a theatre); the surprise of all that 70s stuff has worn off a bit, I suppose. But still pretty funny. Rob Reiner does a good turn as a Werner Erhardt-type guy. The Redd Kross guys are great as typical 70s teens. A lot of humorous moments, overall - but I think you might have to be of a certain age - such that you were sentient during the 70s and especially the bicentenial year - to truly enjoy it.
