Rating: Summary: Actual DVD review of the pulled release... Review: I got my hands on a copy, and since no review sites got their hands on it, I figured this was a good as place as any to air out my opinions on what's the deal with this release...First off, The only perceptible thing about this DVD that says recall, is my copy has a messed up Scene Selections menu. When you arrive at the Scene selection screen, it comes up blank. Only after you select a highlight on the blank screen will something appear on it. Presentation: The DVD is a VERY clean transfer. Bit rate ranges from high 4's to high 7's. I know how freaky black levels get on DVD's, and this one does a bang up job with the material. The audio is good too. It does stay kinda front heavy, only filling surround on score and on a few scenes where incedental SoundFX (like Bela's dogs barking...) This isn't the movie you whip out to impress the friends with your setup, but it is very balanced for the feature. Ed never got to do a 5.1 mix, so it's only fair... :) I've only given a small glance at the extras, but all of them are fairly intriguing, with the Theramin one being a full on lesson on how to best play it. The directors commentary is full of informative facts regarding the production's following reality and how it strays from it for embellishment's sake. They stayed pretty true... Overall, if the bad menu was the only REAL reason it was pulled, they've got some really lousy product testers... Bad menu aside, I give it 4 out of 5 stars.
Rating: Summary: I got mine! Review: I have no idea why the DVD is listed here as unavailable. I have as yet been unable to ascertain why this fine movie has been released then pulled (or so it would seem). If you have pre-ordered this item here, then you should be receiving it. Now, on to the details: -The extras are great, especially if you are a fan of either Tim Burton or Johnny Depp. The Tor Johnson deleted scene is fabulous, and I wonder why all the deleted scenes were not included in the original cut. -The movie is fabulous. I can only wonder how much is actual fact and how much is "based on." -Bill Murray is great in this film. If you want to get an idea how this former goofball actor built up his dramatic chops, start here. If Ed Wood is your personal movie director hero, or if you just want a great insight into a sick mind, then get this film. Definitely in my top five list of DVD releases.
Rating: Summary: You must be double jointed... and Hungarian Review: What a great movie! Indeed this movie is super swell. Then again, what else would you expect from the god of cinema, Tim Burton. Johnny Depp is great in this movie, too. I find the story of Edward D. Wood Jr. to be rather interesting, and also quite fascinating at times. I mean, who doesn't love transvestite filmmakers? I know I sure do. I find his way of directing was also very interesting. No double takes. Makes the shot more real. hahaha. That's magnificent. I agree, actually. Bill Murray is also classic in this film. His little speech about his nightmare trip to Mexico is the best dialogue in the entire movie. That and "I've got 5 days to shoot this movie. Don't get goofy on me." This movie is good. Buy it
Rating: Summary: This isn't right to delay this again!!!! Review: Can't believe this studio is stopping the release on DVD AGAIN! What is the problem now? There is no excuse for this and it really is unfair. With all the junk that they put out on DVD, they can't release Ed Wood? Come on Buena Vista, get with it and make this happen...SOON! Johnny, help!
Rating: Summary: Great move, horrible marketing... Review: The rumor going around as to why this title has been delayed is so Touchstone Pictures could capitalize on possible wins at this year's Oscars by two of the film's actors: Johnny Depp and Bill Murray. Therefore, the studio can market the film as featuring "Oscar Winners Johnny Depp and Bill Murray!" Pretty weak reason to p*ss off legions of film buffs. Nevertheless, Ed Wood still stands as Tim Burton's greatest film. Perhaps, it's worth the wait...
Rating: Summary: No release again Review: I am so angry about Ed Wood not being released. Two times this has happened, and I fear that when it finally does get released a lot of the extras will be gone. Nobody can really give a clear explanation of this whole situation, but I wish I had found it at ANY store before it was taken off the shelf. I will not pay hundreds of dollars for a DVD that someone else found and put on ebay. This is beyond depressing!!!!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: What Happened? Review: This is an excellent movie, and the DVD sounds terrific! BUT does anyone know why this DVD was pulled? Any plans for re-release? Some copies are floating around, but there is no official word of what happened, any information would be terrific! I've been waiting for this DVD for a long time, great movie and the special edition features sound great! Come on disney!
Rating: Summary: 5 Stars But......... Review: ....this is the second dang time they have said they were going to release this movie and then pulled it. What is going on???!!!! I love this movie, but now after they did this twice I am no longer going to buy it. You can't promise something twice and then yank it from under us. No sir! I have an old VHS that I taped from cable, and that will do because I ain't giving any money for this film now! Too bad because it is one of the best films ever made, with incredible performances by Johnny Depp, Martin Landau, and Bill Murray. Oh well.
Rating: Summary: Ed Wood Release Date Changed? Review: I really dont get this i think that Ed Wood is one of the best movies i have watched in a long time. I dont think its fair to us to put a release date on it and then just back it off again. I have been waiting for this dvd a long time and now is says the release date is Jan. 1 2010? I would recomend this movie to everyone its just amazing. Please everyone get on here and vote and get this dvd a release date soon. Thanks
Rating: Summary: 2010??? Review: I went to my local video store expecting to pick up my pre-ordered Ed Wood DVD, as it was scheduled to ship today, and it was not there. I log on to Amazon to find out if it has been delayed, and I see in the description that the release date is now January 1, 2010! What happened? Johnny Depp and Bill Murray are both up for Oscars this year, Landau won an oscar for this film, and Sarah Jessica Parker won a golden globe for her cable show! The cast is hot right now, and people obviously want this disc, so what is the hold up? And why 2010?
