Summary: It's not BAD, just not good
Review: I was really looking forward to this movie and saw it as soon as it came out. I was disappointed. It wasn't so much that the movie was bad, but I think one of Dr. Seuss' most cherished stories deserved better than average. The Grinch has always been a story about the simple meaning of Christmas - this just turned it into a giant marketing tool.
On the good side, Jim Carrey does amazing things under all that fur, and the DVD has some nifty extras. Go ahead and buy this for your kids if they loved it in theaters, but make sure to get them the original, too. And throw in the book for good measure.

Summary: The Movie Nobody Should Miss At Christmas Time!
Review: Who says Dr. Seuss is just for the youngsters? Jim Carrey delivers a stunning performance as the cunningly evil Grinch in this Christmas movie, everyone should see!

How The Grich Stole Christmas, is a timeless Dr. Seuss tale of an evil Grinch long isolated from his fellow Whos, who as a result of the spirit of Christmas finds it in his heart to let go of his miserable ways. This story is brought to life for the 21st century to enjoy, in ways before unimaginable.

This movie is hysterical, prepare to laugh almost non-stop through the movie. This movie is theatrical, and in a way almost romantic. Timeless values of love, peace, and friendship will be tried and acquited of all wrong.

Prepare to enjoy your Christmas a little more, and let Jim Carrey get you in the Christmas spirit before its too late!

Summary: Winning Christmas satire
Review: This Christmas movie opened to great success and reviews. Based on the famous Dr. Seuss book 'The Grinch Who Stole Christmas' (which has almost become synonimous to the occasion itself) it has The Grinch (Carrey) as a green monster glaring down at the people of Whosville, despising Christmas above all else. Whosville is a place where its people celebrate Christmas amid a blizzard of consumerism where presents are what the holidays are all about. The set design is absolutely glorious, managing to capture the magic of the book and particularly excelling in its exagerrated design of a land gaudily decorated in bright lights and over-the-top Christmas trees. However, hope lies in Cindy-Lou Who who still belives in the spirit of Christmas.

This movie has plenty of strong points, although Carrey's performance would have to be one of them. Once again as he did in 'The Truman Show', he demonstrates that he can often trascend a role's apparent limitations. He is quite simply wonderful as the bitter Grinch, hidden under some fantastic make-up effects, with witty comments often overriding the syrupy ending to make this enjoyable for kids and adults alike. It is this genuinely witty humour that really makes it stand out from the rest of the holiday movies.

Incidently, the song 'Where Are You Christmas' is sung by Faith Hill.

Summary: This is great stuff!! The Doc would've loved it.
Review: This is a good movie. I saw the cartoon original on television and I think that one was truer to the book. Jim Carrey has never been better cast since "The Mask". It's long but it's good. I wouldn't mind moving to Whoville, is there really was such a place. Go see it! Don't wait 'til Christmas, just go!

Summary: Something missing
Review: Ok, I was one of those who had been very excited to see a live action Grinch. Now I usually have a very open mind to all movies so I expected to adore this film. I had heard how everyone for the most part loved it. So I buy it and for some reason it just falls flat. I can't place my finger on exactly why I found this movie unappealing but all the same I did. Of course, its a beautiful film full of Christmas sights and I love Christmas movies in general.

I have always loved Dr. Seuss and the Grinch in particular and I'm a huge Jim Carrey fan as well. So I watched this again recently and tried to decipher this feeling. The portrayal of the Grinch is done well by Carrey but I just found the Grinch to be a totally unsympathetic character. Wait, I know, I know, he's a Grinch but during this film I found this the most unlikable representation ever. And for some reason, I wasn't too keen on the little girl. She smirked alot during the film especially in parts where that wasn't necessary. Ok so now maybe I'm being a Grinch but this Grinch might have stole Christmas but it sure didn't steal my heart!

However, it is a Christmas classic and its reasonably enjoyable for the most part. Beautiful scenery, good music and I loved Max.

Summary: Movie for all ages
Review: My two year old daughter loved this movie. I had her sit down and watch it one time with me and from then on that is all she wanted to watch. We are still watching it at least 3 times a week!! I recommend this to all families with young children it helps them understand a movie that you'll lovbe to sit and watch too! My daughter loves it so much she can even sing along with them! It's a great stress reliever in our house from the terrible twos!

Summary: I still like the original best!!!
Review: Although I throughly enjoyed the "new" Grinch movie...I still get more of a kick out of the cartoon original! The initial part of the movie was interesting and gave a new twist to why the Grinch was Grinchy (the Grinch is thwarted in love and made fun of by school mates). The relationship that develops with Cindy Lou who is really quite brillant...the special effects and costumes are great, and Mr. Carrey is excellent along with rest of the cast...I'm still not out my childhood yet apparently! I love the cartoon antics, the extreme facial expressions on the cartoon Grinch and side kick dog! Thus my rating!

Summary: Dr. Seuss In The Real World
Review: As a person who normally considers Dr. Seuss books to be nothing more than rhyming to teach children how to read. I was skeptical as to how Jim Carrey would portray a character in such a innocent christmas story. As it turns out I love the movie! I have watched it at least a dozen times since we saw it in the theater the year it came out on Thanksgiving. Jim Carrey is awesome playing the Grinch, and the little girl who plays Cindy Lou Who teaches everyone what Christmas is really all about. I think the older viewers will enjoy this one much more than the younger ones who are typically fond of Dr. Seuss, as a few of the jokes are a bit over kids heads. All in all, its a wonderful holiday flick that Jim Carrey once again shows just what a talented comedian he really is in.

Summary: Not a movie for the whole family!
Review: The Grinch isn't a movie for the whole family, what I mean is , it isn't a movie I found myself really laughing at. This movie is really for infants not adults or teenagers. The Grinch was a dissapointment, the scenary in this film is outstanding! Jim Carrey's acting is also very good, him being the best person to play the Grinch because of his facial expressions.

Summary: Huh?
Review: Ok, I tend to get most of the stuff where Jim appears, simply because he's a good and funny actor, but I guess I'm simply to old for this particular one (32). If you have kids they'll probably love it though. It's colorful, kitschy and slightly <cough> over the top. Personally I got bored fast, but I should say that objectivity is difficult for someone moving away from the mainstream.....
