Summary: A Timeless Classic
Review: This is one of the few movies I feel passionate about. It certainly didn't get the publicity it deserved, and it has been forgotten. Compare this movie to any that's in theaters right now, and there's no competition.

I can remember being a little girl, sleeping over at my best friend's house, and watching this movie. I always thought of it as "our" movie. She moved away, and I began to forget about it. Then, about two years ago, I saw it at the video store and decided to rent it, to see what kind of movie entertained me as a child.

I was blown away. Because of its PG rating, I expected myself to laugh and blush at what silly things I had liked. I was in tears at the end of the movie, blown away by Chlumskey's performance. The story is sad, yes, but it's not depressing. It leaves you with a feeling of new hope. If Vada can get through it, then obviously you can get through any petty problem you're having.

If you haven't seen this movie, and you don't plan on it because, well, you've never heard of it, I beg you to reconsider. This story has touched my heart, and those of my many family and friends who I *ahem* forced to watch this movie.

Summary: Awesome
Review: It is veary sad. Vadas best friend dies because he stepped in a behive. There were to many bees and he was allergic to them. Also Vadas dad starts to like Shelly a lady who works for him and Vada is upset because she doesn't like Shelly. Vadas mom died when she was a baby. Vada wants to be a writter and has a crush on her teacher. Later Vada learns to love Shelly and becomes happy again. After her best friend died she was heartbroken but I think she gets used to it afterwards.

Summary: Highly recommended
Review: MY GIRL is a wonderful movie about growing up and learning about life. Anna Chlumsky is excellent in her role as Vada, a somewhat different little girl who is obsessed with the subject of death. Seeing as her home is a funeral parlor and she has witnessed many such sad occasions, this is not unusual. Macaulay Culkin portrays Vada's best friend Thomas J, a sweet yet geeky little boy. Vada's unique spirit will make you laugh, and her final lesson on the true meaning of death and friendship will bring you to tears. I would definitely recommend this movie--it has a lot of humor as well as seriousness. It's a great film with a strong cast and good acting. Buy it and see for yourself. =)

Summary: very Good film.....
Review: This movie should be one to see with the kids... I thought that this film had a little bit of everything all rolled into one. Vada is obcessed with death and terrified of the bodies that are brought into the funeral parlor.
I thought that Macalley Culkin was great as little Thomas J Sennett. He was her best friend that put up with all the visits to the doctor and all the teasing from the girls in the neighborhood.
I thought that the father would suspect that something was bothering his daughter when she was playing dead in the kitchen.
Jamie Lee was AWESOME in this film as Shelly... She made the father see that his family needed him, and especially his daughter.
I thought that the death scene was so sad! I saw this back in 1992 after a young friend of mine died...My friend and I cried and cried when this scene was playing on the screen. For those concerned might want to prescreen this first.. It deals with death without pulling any punches... Grab the hankies and have a good cry... Believe me, it helps...

Summary: The best of all!
Review: This movie is about a 11 year-old girl named Vada, who was raised in a funeral parlor. She is terribly afraid of death and visits her doctor frequently. She has a friend called Thomas J.,with whom she spends most of her time. Later in the movie she loses her friend, as he is stung by some bees; and her life starts to change. This movie is in my opinion the best of all. Make sure you can watch it many times and you will find it as moving as the first time. It has excellent photography, superb acting (especially Anna Chlumsky) and very good music. It is enjoyable for all ages and it certainly has an excellent plot as well as cast.

Summary: My Girl: Great but Sad Movie
Review: I am 10 years old and I really liked the movie. But even though I really enjoyed it, I think they should have had a warning (on the video box) about the sad that happens to Thomas Jay. I was really shocked when the tragedy happened, but even so, I enjoyed it very much because it was really funny and the person who played Vada was a really good actor.

Summary: All-around excellence
Review: Vada is an eleven-year-old girl growing up in a funeral parlor in the 1970's. Because she lives in a funeral parlor, and because her mother died when she was born, you might say that Vada, played by newcomer Anna Chlumsky, is obsessed with death. Her single father, played by Dan Akyroyd, hires a cosmotologist named Shelly, played by Jamie Lee Curtis. While a budding romance begins, Vada and her best friend Thomas J , played by Macauley Culkin, are off on summer vacation exploring the neighborhood, and, most important to Vada, scoping out their English teacher, who Vada is in love with. A beautiful story of growing up and facing tradegy, My Girl is superb and is recommended to all ages 8 and up!
