Rating: Summary: A bittersweet, hilarious, & beautiful tale. Review: Being a big fan of Eric Schaeffer's films "My Life's in Turnaround," "If Lucy Fell," and "Fall," I was thrilled to see "Wirey" and after it came out, it took me awhile to finally see it(it never came to the theatres where I was living at the time, so I had to wait for the DVD release)but when I purchased it(without seeing it, mind you), I fell in love with it just as I had his last three films. "Wirey" is loosly based on Schaeffer's own childhood and Eric Mabius plays the younger version of Wirey, while Eric plays the older. Absolutely hilarious at moments(watch the baby...trust me), hard to watch in others(the tense relationship between he and his mother), and blissfully romantic with his ongoing affair with love. It's so much different than most films, that is, being well-written and original, and I highly recommend it.

Rating: Summary: A New Spin for Director Eric Schaeffer Review: Eric Schaeffer returns to the scene with what he does best, a romantic drama saturated in his bizarre humor. Schaeffer plays Wirey Spindell, a thirty-something man facing marriage within a week's time. Confronted by an onslaught of memories from his life, sometimes humorous, sometimes tragic, he tries to make sense of this tangled past. In WIREY SPINDELL, we are thrown through snippets of Wirey's life, starting with his earliest memories from boyhood. As in IF LUCY FELL and FALL, Schaeffer continues to develop the conflict created between the creative force of the imagination, its dreams and ideals, and the cold facts of reality. WIREY is another raucous, raunchy, hilarious, tense, and touching film, mixing memorable scenes with his unusual dialogue. Eric Schaeffer deserves much applause for WIREY, wonderfully written, produced, and directed.
Rating: Summary: wirey spindell-awesome Review: I saw wirey spindell in theater in new york, and I thought itwas awesome! I had never heard of it before, but it is a trueendorsement of indie films. If you love laughing, you'll love this movie. I loved Devin Matthews-Johnson and Eric Mabius too, they're both so cute!
Rating: Summary: A revelation. Review: If the world liked Eric Schaeffer as much as Eric Schaeffer liked Eric Schaeffer, every univeristy and private college in North America would have its own General ed Western-civ course on this director's work. This man's self delusion reaches to such levels of grandeur it is almost like witnessing a natural wonder such as the Aurora Borealis or a solar eclipse. He is so amazing in his confidence that one can not look away, despite the hackneyed content. He is a cinematic Hitler.
Rating: Summary: Somebody stop this guy! Review: It's beyond me how Mr. Schaeffer continues to find funding for his self-indulgent films. He seems to think he's the Woody Allen for the new millennium, but nothing could be further from the truth. Having seen two of his previous efforts, I should have known better than to give "Wirey" a try. But I'm a forgiving soul, and I watched it. Assuming that Mr. Schaeffer's repeated use of himself as a leading man reflects an autobiographical bent to his work, he's a misogynistic, selfish jerk who seems to think that everyone else should be interested in his inability to find romantic happiness. Note to Eric: Just because you know you're a jerk, that doesn't make it okay to be a jerk. A line from "Search and Destroy" also comes to mind: "Just because it happened to you, doesn't make it interesting." Avoid this film like the plague.

Rating: Summary: Another Crime Against Humanity by Eric Shaeffer Review: Since, it would appear, all of Mr. Shaeffer's friends have weighed in with their positive reviews, it is time for some reality: This movie is the most self indulgent waste of celluloid/videotape/ metallic disk I have ever witnessed. I would have alotted it zero stars if that had been an option. To add insult to injury, the DVD release of this film contains Shaeffer's egotistical ramblings about how brilliant he is. He also defends himself against his legion of critics with the oft-repeated phrase, "Get over it." It must be heard to be believed. There are numerous offenses against humanity contained on this film, but perhaps the most obvious is Shaeffer's casting of the extremely handsome actor Eric Mabius as a late teen/early 20's Wirey. Apparently Left on the cutting room floor was the nuclear accident that transforms Mabius into Shaeffer later in the film. As of this writing Shaeffer has another opus in production. It is hard to imagine it topping this mess, but, like a car wreck, I will feel compelled to see it.
Rating: Summary: You Will Only Enjoy This Movie If You Are Intelligent Review: This film is sweet, beautiful, hilarious and so realistic, it is amazing. It is sad to me to see such spiteful, negative reviews posted here, but it is clear that these people prefer bogus big-budget Hollywood films to true works of art. I think Schaeffer is one of the funniest writers/actors around. Like Woody Allen, he presents New York so well cinematically, especialy here in Wirey Spindell. His earlier works have been a little weak in parts, as Wirey Spindell sometimes is, but he has pretty much made his masterpiece with this one. Some of the moments presented in this film will absolutely break your heart, or make you laugh hysterically, or simply contemplate your own life, especially if you are of this generation. Wirey Spindell reminded me so much of my own life and thoughts, that I was blown away by it. I cannot get enough of his films, and I am so thankful that there are enough fans of his work to at least let him keep making films, which will be hailed as genius someday by the masses. You MUST see this film. It is one of the BEST and most honest "romantic comedies" EVER MADE.
Rating: Summary: wirey spindell Review: This is an amazing movie especially if you are an Eric Schaeffer fan.All of his movies were leading up to this one.I love all of them, but this is the best so far. The dialogue and the casting are great...its real The movie effects you and leaves something with you. All really good movies imprint something on you.
