Summary: Cool!
Review: I loved it! I could watch it over and over again. It's great the way Brendan Fraser acts as a spoiled rich brat, especially opposed to his George-of-the-Jungle thing. he really did well with Shirley Maclaine too.

Summary: great movie with a twisting plot
Review: I really love the movie because of the great atmosphere it has and all those charismatic actors (I do think Rikki Lake did a great job too).
Especially the end was great and resolved in a satisfying way. The only thing I don't understand at all (besides the fact that the real Patricia Winterbourne seemed to be travelling without a passport or any document that could identify her) is why does Grace state she killed Steve, although she did not know who Steve was, nor what Patricia (aka Connie) had to do with him?
It was just so irrational to do that.

All in all a great movie with a few weak points in the script.

Summary: Screwball Romance
Review: I want to be adopted by Shirley MacLaine and her butler Paco. Based on a case of mistaken identity following a train wreck; a young, homeless woman has a baby and is taken in by a wealthy family who believe her to be their daughter-in-law. She meets her putative brother-in-law, who suspects she is not who she claims to be and they fall in love. Although he discovers her real identity, he pretends to believe her story in an effort to be sure that she doesn't leave. The movie is fun to watch, very romantic...there is a tango scene which Brendan Fraser fans run over and over again. He plays a snobbish, bright and ironic young man who has ended up holding the bag as the responsible member of his rich family. Shirley MacLaine is brilliant as the mother, and Ricki Lake does a reasonably good job as a Cinderella candidate. The film could have benefited from a few extra scenes to clarify Bill's attraction to Patricia, but is a fun romance/comedy with a happy ending.

Summary: 4 Star Movie! 1 Star DVD!
Review: I wish I had read the reviews before I bought this DVD and saw the warning that the new DVD is pan and scan and that the old DVD which had both widescreen and pan and scan is out of print but when I saw this DVD for Mrs. Winterbourne in a department store at a low price of about 6 dollars I bought it thinking that was a bargain and that I was getting one of my favorite romantic comedies in widescreen but when I went to watch the DVD I was disappointed to find out that it was just an edited pan and scan version and there was no widescreen version especially as I had gotten rid of my pan and scan video version in order to update to the widescreen DVD so my question is Why in the world would anyone put out what they call a remastered edition on DVD and than release it in pan and scan and not widescreen? isn't that taking a step backwards? I like this movie and I think Shirley McClaine, Ricki Lake and Brendan Fraiser are all very good and I would rate the movie 4 stars but the pan and scan only DVD gets 1 star and I'm stuck with this DVD because the place I bought it from will not take back DVD's that have been opened so my only option is to sell or trade this DVD at a store that sells, buys and trades used DVDs and hope I can find a used copy of the old DVD that included both widescreen and pan and scan!

Summary: Love it! Gotta get it!
Review: If you're a Brendan Fraser fan (and who isn't?), don't skip out on seeing this one. Alongside Shirley Maclaine (she's terrific in this, as usual) and Ricki Lake, this film will have you in stitches. It's a modern-day Cinderella fairy tale based on a novel. I even got my husband, who's fussy with movies, sitting through and laughing with this one. It's a must-have for your video collection.

Summary: Beware--New DVD is pan & scan only
Review: Please be aware that Columbia recently "revised" this DVD. The prior DVD had both widescreen and pan & scan on the disc. This new version has only pan & scan. How's that for progress! Thanks Columbia!

Amazon's technical details still show widescreen, which they had told me they would correct after shipping me two copies to try and get me the widescreen version they were supposedly selling. It's a great thing that Amazon is understanding about these things.

Summary: We want the DVD
Review: Please if it helps of something here in Mexico are lots of people that loved this movie and we want it on DVD.

Summary: Compelling and satisfying
Review: Shirley can make me believe anything. Ricky Lake at her best. And Brandon makes me feel warm and fuzzy. The movie was a little 'pat" but who cares? I love how it debunked "blood lines" and how it exhibited the many forms of love.
