Summary: "Big, ugly, and downright pointless..."
Review: Carrey is perfect as the Grinch in marvelous makeup, in this remake of the animated classic. Big, ugly, and downright pointless, the film dwells on useless subplots. Admirable production and execution, but why bother. A good example of how Hollywood can ruine a perfectly good thing. Stay away from our classics!

Summary: Worth Seeing
Review: I actaully liked this and after reading some other reviews, it seems I'm in the minority. I understand why others don't like it becuase it does stray from the original story. I watch it as a movie that is based on the original Dr. Suess story but clearly not the same. If you can separate the two, I think you'll enjoy it more.

It is worth checking out.

Summary: Great Movie!!
Review: I Like The Part About The Grinch When He Was Younger!!
One Thing Is That This Movie Should Not Be Viewed By A Child Younger Than Six Years Old Because Of The Grinch's Costume.
The Special Features Are Great Because They Have Max's Playhouse Which Has Sing-A-Long Songs Like You're A Mean One Mr. Grinch and Where Are You Christmas And The DVD-ROM Has The Playstation Grinch Game Demo Where You Play As The Grinch...

Summary: Great film!
Review: Looking at Grinch on its own, this was a very entertaining film... Carrey is great with one-liners: "oh, the humanity!", like a bugs bunny feature (almost).... I wondered throughout how they were going to do the "save the sleigh" scene and it was great, too. Purists, take heart. You really gotta see a film on its own merits; don't compare it to the animated version. That version was cool, too.

Summary: HORRIBLE!
Review: I saw this movie in the theater last year and I didn't like it. It was one of the worst family movies I have ever seen. Jim Carrey looked good as the Grinch but I was expecting it to be Jack Nicholson or Tim Curry. Because you know in Home Alone 2 when Kevin was watching The Grinch in the Lemo and Tim Curry had the perfect Grinch smile. But I don't know Jim Carrey was allright as the Grinch. If you want to see a good Grinch film go get the animated version. This version of the Grinch is really dumb and it's not good for kids to watch. The only thing that's good about this movie is the song by Faith Hill "Where Are You Christmas." Stick with the animated version don't see this piece of ...!

Summary: Entertaining and Fun
Review: I found Jim Carrey to be delightfully entertaining. I think he has shown once again how versatile a character actor he is.
I also found all the characters equally entertaining. Especially Cindy Lou winning over the Grinch.

I enjoyed the interpretation of how the Grinch came to dislike Christmas. I am sure any number of story lines would have worked, but this was very pleasant and entertaining.

This is pure entertainment. Open your heart, I have long been a Grinch fan, and I think this fits along with the original to be treasured through the years. How could your heart not grow two sizes? Unless your the Grinch.

Summary: ok, but???
Review: Jim Carey is in his usual form in this movie. Not a bad movie for the kids either.

Summary: Not quite sure about this one
Review: Ok, basically, I must admit that I did enjoy this movie. I saw it with my sister and I liked it very much. It was a fairly satisfying movie. My favorite parts included Cindy Lou's (Taylor Momsen) version of "Where are You, Christmas?" and the ending part where the Grinch's heart "grew three sizes." It's a classic story that has won the hearts of people worldwide. I'm pretty sure I'd recommend this movie to older audiences, but certainly not young children. While Jim Carrey is a good actor, his version of the Grinch was, in my opinion, way too intense for little kids. He speaks language that I personally wouldn't want my own kids to witness (if, of course, I had kids, which I don't). Too violent and inappropriate for young ones--give them a different Christmas movie to watch or show them the cartoon version of "The Grinch," but don't break out this one. The kids can definitely stand to take a pass on the crude humor and sick jokes presented here.

Summary: At least I know why the Grinch is the way he is
Review: I enjoyed the movie, but I was a bit unhappy with some of it. At least I found out why the Grinch is/was the way he is/was.
I thought that was a nice touch to the movie. Gave the Grinch more of a past so we could "understand" him. The Who's were nice, but I loved Cindy Lou Who's mom and the Whovier lady who competed at Christmas. Those lights! I guess I had hoped the Grinch, as played by Jim Carrey, would be a bit more Grinchy, but he wasn't. That disappointed me. Perhaps I need to watch it again to see what I missed the first time around. Do watch it. It is very pretty and the Whos are such a nice bunch.

Summary: One of the five worst movies I've ever seen
Review: It sucks. It sucks. It sucks. Took one of the greatest animated movies of all time, added meaningless psychobabble to a story that was supposed to tell us about the possibility for reform in all of us and tried to make us feel sorry for the grinch, thereby avoiding the principal idea - even the WORST person can become better. HORRID film. NO redeeming qualities at all. Not worth sitting through. Not worth watching. If you buy it, burn it. I can't believe I had to give this film a star at all.
