Summary: funny movie
Review: I was pleasantly surprised after purchasing this movie to see how bad it was to find it to be an excellent movie I assumed it was bad because of the very limited theaterical release and the lack of publicity it got when it was released theaterical

Summary: A gahtdam SHAME!
Review: I went to see this film on Christmas Day. I was convinced I had discovered the sleeper hit of the otherwise inane commercial season...then it was gone. Later I found out why. How disturbing to find out that some foppy knighthood by some antiquated monarchy was to blame. ...I hope the film has a second release. It was a fricken riot and brilliantly crafted. Too bad we have to endure endless promotion of near unwatchable crap, then we get denied a truly excellent film. Strange biz. Everlasting Piece is a great movie. I loved it. Hope to see more from McEvoy and Obyrne.

Summary: Misleading Title, Hilarious Movie
Review: If you don't mind the F-word and can understand some pretty heavy Brogue, this movie is hysterical. The premise alone -- two guys trying to corner the toupee market in Northern Ireland? Well, buy it, rent it, whatever... you will laugh.

Summary: If you like British comedy...
Review: If you like British Comedy, or better yet Irish comedy than you will no doubt be pleased by this film. Although I didn't like it as much as the Full Monty, or Waking Ned Divine, I still must admit it was time well spent. There isn't too much comedy in the film, with is why I gave it only 3 stars. The trailer seemed misleading. Besides the hilarious epiodes with a stranger on the sofa, and a bit including a dog, a tupee, and a telephone booth, there wasn't much more too laugh at besides the dialogue. As many of these films that are marketed they seem to end up being more of a dramatic comedy than they initially let on. However, if you enjoy films similar too this one you'll no doubt enjoy it. And the memories of it may have you chuckling for days. Take that, Mr. Black!

Summary: A good piece.
Review: Over all I thought it was an entertaining and enjoyable film. Very well written. Hats of to McEvoy. I did how ever feel the film lacked a little in the direction. In my humble opinon I feel the film ran a little slow. And it would have been nice to see Dreamworks put a little of it's impressive movie muscle behind this small flick. A good view.

Summary: Must See Comedy
Review: Saw this movie while visiting New Zealand. Learned interesting facts about the movie from the owner of the theater, like how it will not be shown in cinemas due to an international ban. This is due to its portrayal of the conflict in Northern Ireland. I did not see why this was an issue, because the movie does not focus on it at all. You will truly enjoy the situations these 2 barbers get themselves into. One of my favorite comedies.

Summary: Battle Of The Baldies
Review: Set in divided Ireland "sometime in the 1980s", AN EVERLASTING PIECE is a rather different movie from director Barry Levinson (whose credits range from the excellent RAIN MAN to the embarressing junk that was TOYS).
Barry McEvoy (who also wrote this) plays Colin, a Catholic barber who specialises in mental patients. Billy Connolly is a fellow barber who is admitted to the institution after going mad and scalping four of his clients, so Colin and his Protestant friend George (Bryan F. O'Byrne) take over his business, and extend it to include toupees. Unfortunately when pronounced in an Irish accent "hairpiece" sounds a bit like "herpes", so this doesn't help the business grow. Billy Connolly has little screen time, but he shines as usual ("Did you ever read Saint Paul's letter to the hermaphrodites?"). The supporting cast also includes Pauline McLynn, best known as Mrs Doyle on FATHER TED.
AN EVERLASTING PIECE is not a movie with a lot of substance but it's watchable. If you enjoyed movies like WAKING NED DEVINE this will be right up your alley.

Summary: Piece By Piece, It Doesn't Add Up to a Full Rug
Review: Still not sure why Barry Levinson decided to direct this film. Moreover, I'm not sure why DreamWorks decided to greenlight it. It was pointless. Yeah, there were a few moments where I laughed, but all in all, it comes very close to being one of those films that when it's over you really want to recapture the time you spent watching it. The most enjoyable part of the film was the outstanding cinematography by Seamus Deasy. Most of the characters that Barry McEvoy has created are very one-dimensional and the story just isn't engaging.

Summary: too good to miss
Review: Such a shame that Dreamworks didn't back this movie all the way ! It seems that most poeple missed the opportunity to see the movie in theatres. Now you can see it on DVD and video. A very special, funny, very well written film which shows Belfast city at it's best. Also an extra bonus to see Billy Connelly perform !!
