Summary: Wonderful for the kids
Review: ..they enjoyed the adventure/antics of this cartoon hero. Might be a little subdued for parents...

Summary: Brendan Frasier @ His Best!
Review: : He's a Canadian Mountie, he's none too bright... heck, he can't even ride his horse right. Dudley Do-Right, is however, a do-right man committed to fighting crime in the remote wilderness of Canada, and somehow, he actually suceeds. In this, his live-action cinematic debut, the dastardly villain Snidely Whiplash does something, well, dastardly. Undoubtedly, Nell is endangered, Dudley will need to rescue her, and it'll be funny. You'll see.

Specifically, the plot involves the attempts of Snidely Whiplash to use a fake goldrush to take over the small town of Semi-Happy Valley.

Summary: Enjoyable Enough, but for All the Wrong Reasons.
Review: A Score of 2 is a Little Harsh, Its Really more of a 2 1/2, but be Warned, when Considering Seeing, Hiring or Buying "Dudley Do-Right", Ask yourself these 3 Questions. 1: Do you Enjoy seeing people Fall Over? 2: Do you Enjoy Funny Sound Effects (eg. Boooiiinnnggg, Tweety Bird Noises). 3: Do you Enjoy seeing Horses blow Raspberry's at people and Pass Gas? If you said No to all three, run away from this film as Fast as you Can. If you said Yes to One, See it when it hits Cable. If you said Yes to Two, Hire it. If you said Yes to All Three... Buy It Now; It Is Your Dream Film.

When I asked Myself these questions, I fell Somewhere in the Middle, I was never Hysterically Laughing at Do-Right's Antics, but I was a Little Won over by his (and the films) Childish Charm and Endless Energy. In the end, though, most of the laughs come from Pity.. or Stupidity.

Like the Somewhat Superior "George of the Jungle", Brendan makes a Fool of himself for an Hour and Twenty minutes for the kids, while also proving that Slapstick Isn't Dead for the Adults. (it mightn't be Dead, but it Certainly isn't Thriving)

Brendan doesn't have as much to do Physically as he did in "George", but he still makes a Fool of himself. The Real star of this film is Alfred Molina as Snidely Whiplash, Do-Rights Arch Nemesis. His Comically Evil Expressions and Hilarious Laugh had me laughing Every time. Sarah Jessica Parker and Eric Idle share what is left of the Screen time, (which isn't much) Neither make much of an Impression.

The Storyline is more Clever than I Imagined it would be, Every time I considered turning the film off in Embarrassment, A Clever Twist, Satirical Comment or Whiplash Laugh would force me to Stick with it, and it Is worth it, as it Does get better as it goes along. So Stick with it, even through it's Darkest moments, even the most Critical Reviewers should find a few laughs here and there.

Summary: Dudley Can't Do Right
Review: After I saw this movie once, I vowed never to see it again. Brendan Fraser is completely incompetent as an actor. Actually, he isn't even an actor. He's just somebody who happens to get filmed in a movie. He can't act. Will someone kindly inform he and his agent of this fact? He shows how much work the Canadian Mounties put into the job- nothing!
DON'T BUY THIS MOVIE!!!

Summary: Fraser Strikes Out
Review: After the success of "George of the Jungle" and "The Mummy", Brendan Fraser hits a new low with this weak live-action remake of the classic cartoon series. Fraser plays the clumsy and dimwitted mounty Dudley Do-Right. Clueless Do-Right must stop his arch-nemesis Snidely Whiplash (Alfred Molina) and win the heart of true love Nell (Sarah Jessica Parker). Like many movies based on old TV series and animated favorites, "Do-Right" ranks as one of the worst movies of 1999. The story is weak and quite corny. The ending was disappointing and the acting was lame. Alfred Molina and Monty Python's Eric Idle provide a few amusing laughs but doesn't compensate for the movie's down points.

Dudley Do-Right DVD has a few good points. The pictire and sound quality is quite good and offers the choice of both full and widescreen formats. The menus are simple and contain few extra features including an animated short by the show's creator. Overall, this DVD earns a "D-".

The 5.1 Dolby Digital and DTS sound options are well balanced and offer some pleasant surround effects. The DVD features the film's theatrical trailer, DVD-ROM extras and simple interactive menus. Unless you enjoyed this summer bomb, "Dudley Do-Right" is absolute an animated short by the show's creator. Overall, "Dudley Do-Right" earns a "D-".

Summary: Dumb & Stupid
Review: Brendon Fraser is wasted in thisreally stupid movie. Although DVD quality is excellent(beautiful scenes of British Columbia - crystal clear print), plot is non-existent. However, Brendon does look good in mountie uniform & There are a couple of good dance number's - but it's not enough - BIG, BIG DISAPPOINTMENT.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Kinda Pointless, Eric Idle makes it all worthwile
Review: Eric Idle's performance is the only thing that saves this movie. The rest of the film is a yawn till you get to Dudley's ninja training with Idle. The other good thing about this movie is that it gives us some idea of Alfred Molina's diversity as an actor, (comparing Snidley to Angel from Maverick)

Summary: Did Bendan Fraser really want to do this film?
Review: Having been a lifelong fan of the old Dudley Do-Right cartoon series (He's my hero)(I'm 43)I found Brendans' portrayal very, very labored. The expression on his face for the most part was "do I really want to be here?". Sarah Jessica Parker would have been my 10th choice of ladies to play the part of Nell (I guess Sex & the City is where she belongs). Also being a Python fan, the inclusion of Eric Idle originally got my interest up....but sadly the role given him was a complete misuse of his comic genius....he would have been better suited as Snidley. The movie overall was somewhat enjoyable to watch, but I think I'll stick to watching the old cartoon series.
