Summary: Pure FUN!
Review: Joe Dirt is NOT intellectual, it's not necessarily witty either. It's just plain fun! David Spade plays his character with such casual credibility that you find yourself feeling sorry for his "redneck DNA." Dennis Miller is perfect in his role as the wise-cracking radio show host who first insults Joe Dirt ruthlessly, and ultimately finds himself charmed by Joe's naivete. Kid Rock does a nice job in his small role, and the cameos by Christopher Walker and Patricia Arquette are pure pleasure! This movie is just for laughs, and why not?

Summary: Yeah, um, David Spade HIMSELF walked out of it
Review: When I heard that David Spade walked out of his own movie, I just thought to myself "FORGET SEEING THAT ONE!" Well, later that month my teacher brought in a movie for us to watch, RAVING how funny it was and what do ya know...JOE DIRT. Since I had nothing to do, I decided to actually watch it. BELIEVE ME, "Joe Dirt" is as stupid as stupid can get. See it if you want, but I would NEVER watch it AGAIN. I don't know why David Spade wasted his time...

Summary: Christopher Walken makes this ho-hum movie soar!!
Review: For casual movie watchers ... . But if you really love certain roles/writting - watch this movie and look forward to the Walken dialogue. Sure the mullets and white trash humor are laughable, but Mr. Witness Protection Walken will make your night. He is hiding in a small town as a high school janitor...(not going to divulge more than that) but they call him - interrupting his conversation with Spade saying.."Uh we need you to come up here and clean up this puke" - he simply replies "i'm on it". Classic Walken!! Takes a Littly Nicky dissapointment and turns it into a Happy Gilmore.

Summary: fun
Review: i love this movie even though the story could have been wrote by a 4 th grader. this was a very funny movie on david spade standards saying only tommy boy is better. if u ever get to see this remember to leave your brain off because its not one of those comedys with good jokes. they are mediocre. it is still pretty good though.

Summary: Funny and nothing more.
Review: I saw this on HBO and loved it. Pretty funny and quite entertaining in a Juvenile way.

Summary: Just the Typical Dirt.
Review: JOE DIRT is often crude, is rather poorly edited, yet is somewhat enjoyable. David Spade plays Joe Dirt, a white trailer trash kid who was separated from his parents on a trip to the Grand Canyon. Left on his own, Joe begins a life of nomadic existance before being forced into foster care. Later, he runs away beginning his wandering life again in a quest to find his parents. He travels all around the country, working at a host of jobs from carnie worker, alligator wrangler, walking tooth, oil worker, and a janitor to name just a few. Eventually, Joe ends up in L.A. and his story is told on a misanthropic, sarcastic radio program and Joe becomes a national celebrity.

JOE DIRT is rather crude and risque several times. I mean, the movie tries to make a joke out of a dog having it's testicles frozen to the floor of a front porch. However, this is an Adam Sandler produced picture so that should be expected. David Spade is sometimes funny as Joe Dirt, but more often than not he's just pathetic. Spade is great when it comes to witty, sarcastic humor; but when left to physical or situational comedy, Spade isn't that funny. The movie jumps around a lot and would have probably worked better if a lot of the radio station stuff (and Dennis Miller) was cut out and had the story told in a more coherent chronological order without the choppiness. Nevertheless, the film does have it's moments and is surprisingly funny.

Overall, a rude and crude film that lacks orginality and imagination, but has some humorous moements. There are a lot better movies to watch and own, yet there are also a lot of movies that are worse. Life's a garden, Dig it!

Summary: Fun Fun Fun!!!!!!!!
Review: This is a great movie if you are in the mood for something fun and light-hearted. The characters are hilarious, and you find yourself really feeling for Joe. There is some crude humor in this movie, so if you aren't up for that, it might not be the movie for you.

Despite previous reviews, complaining that Rosanna Arquette was not in the movie, she is. She played Charlene, the Gator World woman, but was not credited.

Summary: Such a good movie
Review: I didn't expect much. The previews looked pretty dumb, the idea seemed pretty dumb; add to that the fact that I don't tend to enjoy light comedies and you can imagine my surprise when I totally fell in love with this movie.

Obviously, you can't take it seriously, it's just a fun movie, but with characters that you come to really care about. Pretty much the same formula as all the Adam Sandler movies, comedy vs. heart.

So, I gave it a '5'. Not a 'Kubrick/2001 5', but now in it's own category, a 'Joe Dirt 5'.

Summary: Worthwhile Comedy
Review: This is the story of a guy named Joe Dirt, who while working as janitor at a radio station is pulled onto the show to be the butt of the host's (Dennis Miller) jokes. But once he is on the show and begins to tell his story, they find more than just a hilariously pitiful redneck with a hideous wig grafted to his head. Joe Dirt is a guy that has had every kind of misfortune, including losing his parents on a vacation at the Grand Canyon, and has still kept his head and his hopes up. Without the comedy the story might be a little lame, and without the story there wouldn't be enough jokes to fill a feature film, but together they make a great movie. I don't usually like "mindless comedies", but for some reason I loved this one. Maybe it was because Joe Dirt is such an up-beat, lovable character. You should definitley give this one a try.

Summary: Watch the movie with David Spade's commentary on...
Review: I think this movie is more fun to watch with David Spade's commentary activated. David talks about the ideas behind shots, problems getting licensing rights to use songs, along with typical David Spade wisecracks.
