Summary: Elizabeth Perkins!
Review: If you haven't seen this movie yet, buy it. I've owned it for over 5 years. I probably watch it 4-5 times a year. It's one of those relaxing, deep, thoughtful and insightful films which reminds you of what's important in life. Especially as a woman. Friendship, family, love, passions, dreams and living in the moment. Some of the reviews I've read on this site about this film are so vague and generic (and one complete idiot that didn't like it? he/she must not have a soul) that I felt motivated to add my two cents. It's just a lovely, touching and totally female-driven film. What more do you want out of entertainment? Buy a good bottle of fine wine and watch it tonight.

Summary: With a cast like this, it falls short.
Review: Picking up this movie blindly, I had small expectations. All of them were based on what I considered to be a fantastic cast. A meeting of female stars like this should have brought more emotions or depth to the characters in this story, but fell terribly short with flat writing. Becky (Elizabeth Perkins) is predictable & tough to feel anything for, as an audience member. She is going through a large trauma in her life, but acts & reacts with no extra sorrow than anyone would have. Lucy (Gwyneth Paltrow) as Becky's immature, "still-finding-herself-in-college" sister cannot be strong for Becky during this painful time. ALberta (Kathleen Turner) is their controlling step-mother, who leads a sub-plot which went nowhere. She is attached to these females on a regular basis, yet there seems to be no reason for her to be everywhere with them. And Whoopi GOldberg as Becky's troubled best friend is there as a support, but also as someone carrying around a sub-plot of her own that lands short. The up side to this film is the painter, played by Jon Bon Jovi. He plays a small role, but in his on-screen debut, steals the show. This film had potential to be following 4 women through a tough year in their lives, but decided to avoid being that productive & adventurous in the script.

Summary: Just like real life...
Review: The movie accurately portrays the heaviness, oppressive emotional qualities of life after the death of a spouse. However, it also shows the hopefullness and healing that comes from true friends. This is an emotionally heavy movie, addressing such a solemn event. And if you can hang on through the agonies of the grieving widow, you will find, in the end, hope for the future and a belief that life can and will go on.

By the way, Yes, Jon Bon Jovi was in the movie. If he is the only reason you're getting this movie, you may be disappointed. Although he handles it well, he has a very small part in this show.

I connected with this movie in many ways. I recognized a sense of familiarity in the characters portrayed in this film. And I felt satisfied with the conclusion of the story.

Summary: Fantastic Movie
Review: This is a film you do not want to miss. It is packed with comedy and emotion. Not to mention the all-star cast lead by Elizabeth Perkins. She does a wonderful job portraying her character Rebecca who has to deal with the sudden death of her husband. With the help of friends and family, (Goldberg, Turner, and Paltrow) she will find the strength she needs to go on. Be sure and have some tissues handy because Perkins will make you laugh and cry right along with her.

Summary: three hankies
Review: This is a very real look at grief and its aftermath. The actors are pros and their timing is great. The story is intense and moves well. Bon Jovi is not yet an actor. He could be interesting in River Phoenix type roles.

Summary: GREAT GIRLFRIEND MOVIE!
Review: This movie is a perfect flick for a group of good girfriends to watch! All of the actresses are amazing in this movie and Jon Bon Jovi adds the "kick" to the cast! This movie has a lot of comedy, honesty, drama, and tear-jerking scenes!

A Must Watch!! :)

Summary: Superb chick-flick!
Review: This production is superb in every respect! It pains me to see that it is not currently available. The studios are in such a frenzy of re-releasing every obscure title to dvd that I can't understand why they overlook gems like this one!

Summary: Without Jon Bon Jovi, I would have given it ONE star.
Review: This was honestly one of the worst movies I've ever seen. The plot was boring if not non-existent. The only redeeming quality was the fact that the scenes with Jon Bon Jovi were cute and not depressing.

Summary: Jon's good... the movie is boring....
Review: Well, the few times Jon is in the movie are good - you see he actually can act. But the movie itself is rather boring, too long and it doesn't happen so much.
