Rating: Summary: ROAD TRIP for feminists, but guys will enjoy it too Review: After all the guy oriented gross out comedys in recent memory (AMERICAN PIE, ROAD TRIP, VAN WILDER et al) comes one written by SOUTH PARK's Nancy Pimental in which it's the girls turn to take the comic low road. Starring Cameron Diaz, Christina Applegate and Selma Blair as three none too bright girls who decide to take revenge on guys who have treated them like dirt they (predictably) set out on a cross country road trip to catch the creep responsible. There are amusing bits along the way featuring an amorous biker and a memorably funny rest-room eye gouging that has to be seen to be believed. The three leads are good, but the movie veers uncomfortably between whimsy and gross outs at times. It's still recommended, if only for the scene where some guys are spying on Applegate getting her breasts groped in the womens bathroom.
Rating: Summary: This is 1 of the worst movies around! Review: This movie was soooooo boring i was miss led by the title thinking i was going to get a good movie about three single girls but instead i got a got a movie that was terrible. Its all about cameron diaz walking around in her underwear or if not that in some skimpy little out fit making everyone want her. Every scene has something discusting.
Rating: Summary: the worst movie of the decade Review: i could not believe how bad this movie was. the jokes are tasteless, that i can handle if they were actually in any way funny. they're not. the only cast members to display comedic talent in this film (parker posey and justin bateman) only have a couple of lines each. the film goes for shock value without wit or cleverness. this movie is a DOG. get orange county instead.
Rating: Summary: Cameron Diaz shines, the story sucks Review: The only reason for me to watch this movie is because of Cameron Diaz. Among the Hollywood female stars, Cameron is one that is truly sexy, and can ACT (Try Invisible Circus)! I can easily compare this movie to That's Something About Mary. But Sweetest Thing is not in every way compare to Mary. For the cast, we have Mat Dillon, Ben Stiller in Mary. Salma Blair and Christina Applegate are actually also good, but just being so plain besides Cameron. (that's the purpose to cast them, I think). For the story, Sweetest Thing is just so CHEAP, that at some parts, they are just hard to accept, and are beyond accetable. I am not a saint: I consider the hair-gel in Mary alright and funny, I consider the laundry part in Sweetest Thing funny. More --- I think the apple pie scene in American Pie is damn funny. But I can't see a group of people singing Penis Song funny at all!!! I mean other people can handle such stuff with better quality --- American Pie is a very good example. You may find it more interesting If you are watching the UNRATED version. But for this one, I just find it a little bit sick if you watch the unrated one. About the story, there is no substance at all, and never touching on all the romance part. All my 3 stars are dedicated to Cameron Diaz - If you like her, she will not be too disappointed. She is still very sexy, and adorable. Note: I am only saying Cameron Diaz is adorable, not the character she is playing - but that's the fault of the script, not hers.
Rating: Summary: I enjoyed this movie! Review: I totally agree with Jaime, me being also 18, my friends and I loved this movie and watched it over and over agian and are even quoting it. I think it falls into the ages of 18-25 for someone to enjoy it. My sister is 21 and she thought it was hilarious also. Girls can relate to this because alot of this stuff can happen on a road trip, or just in a girls life and its humorous to see that it happens to others also.
Rating: Summary: Sweet romantic comedy bogged down by rude "humor" Review: (This is a review of the R-rated version, since that's the one I saw. An unrated version is also available, with extra footage and a different commentary track. Of course, true fans will want both.) The most interesting aspect of The Sweetest Thing is how traditionally banal it is. With all the talk about it being a gross-out sex comedy for women, at its heart it is really just a romantic comedy. It even has the requisite happy ending. Cameron Diaz is Christina Walton, to whom we are introduced by some of the many men she has kept at arm's length. At a party, she attempts to seduce a man for her friend Jane (played by Selma Blair), who has just been dumped. This man, one Peter Donahue (Thomas Jane), of course (there's little original about this film) becomes the object of Christina's affection, beginning with a heated argument of the type where you can see the emotional heat building underneath. After a little deception and a lost opportunity, Christina and her other friend, Courtney (Christina Applegate, using her body to full effect as a comic property), set out on a road trip to find this guy. But they are in for a surprise. Diaz is charming as always and Applegate excels at this sort of physical comedy, but there's something wrong with this Thing. Instead of missing something, there's too much going on. Had screenwriter Nancy Pimental decided to stick with the romantic comedy angle, we would have had nothing particularly special (except that the chemistry between Cameron Diaz and Thomas Jane may have carried it to another level), but with all the shenanigans going on (a scene in a men's public restroom; discussion over the aromatic quality of respective nether regions) there's little room for sweetness in The Sweetest Thing. Admittedly, I laughed in spite of myself (particularly at the source of the smell in the car and at Applegate's tour de force arousal of a passing biker) but once it was over, very little of it remained in my memory. The Sweetest Thing is simply a good idea gone wrong through the unnecessary addition of extraneous "humor."
Rating: Summary: Just plain awful Review: I guess by now I though most people would be tired of the same old stupid plot encapsulated in a stupid comedy. This movie is a perfect example of how Hollywood can simply put out a piece of junk, tell the public it's good, and the public will buy into it. I haven't been this dissapointed in a movie in quite a while. No imagination, no real plot, just a bunch of low grade light porn moments. Having Cameron Diaz parade around in her bra and underwear just for the sake of all the guys with a crush on her is, unfortunately, enough to sell a movie. If you like stupid, unwhitty, grotesque humor, this one is for you, otherwise, keep looking.
Rating: Summary: My favorite movie of all time!! Review: Hello. My name is Jaime. I am 18 yrs. old I think the sweetest thing is one of the best movies I have seen. It widely explains the day of and average girl. Its hard to find the right man so when a women thinks she might have him she will go to any extend to get him. This movie makes mejust wanna get up and dance. i love all the music in it i am hoping to find the soundtrack somewhere. I hope a lot of people enjoyed the movie as much as i did.
Rating: Summary: Girls just wanna have fun Review: OKAY- finally a movie that defines power, fun, and control for beautiful girls- i must admit- this is not the movie for eveyone-either you love it or you hate it, but i truly thought it was hilarious- it takes slapstick humor from a girl's perspective- showing the true side of us between girlfriends and realizing that these scenes were somehow taken right from your own life experiences, but were to humiliated to admit it or believe it- yes it does get a little wacky with the humor- sometimes so raunchy you think, "did i just see what i thought i saw?" but un the end you have to realized its just a fun movie that you cant find a purpose in, but just a good old time- If youre a fun girl that likes to live your life without restriction and want to find how to enjoy yourself, rent this movie- i watched it like 5 times in a week
