Summary: Lil' Bow Wow...Grrr!!!
Review: Why is Lil' Bow Wow such a little fruitcake and why is this movie awful?

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: great...just great
Review: I bought this movie today because it was at a great price, and my 12 year old daughter wanted really badly to see it. Soooo, I bought and called myself reviewing it, and fell in love with Lil Bow Wow myself. You just cannot help but adore him. Morris Chestnut is still foine as usual, but very reluctant to bring Calvin into his space. The part where he tells Calvin that he adopted him was so sweet it made me want to cry. Fine script, good acting, and great moves. When Bow Wow tried asking one of the opposing team members for an autograph was classic. Making that shot and not being able to get down was another.. Selling candy and the people saying who would buy candy from him was another. Ok. So, I am a Bow Wow fan. But. the movie is clean, the whole family can watch without getting offended, and it was just great..

Summary: only made to boost lil bow wow's ego!
Review: this movie has NO CLIMAX what so ever! this movie was made ONLY to make lil bow wow better than eveyrone else in the planet! if allen iverson wasnt in the movie, i wouldnt have rented this. warning: SPOILER! ok in the movie, lil bow wow finds magical shoes, he joins the NBA, although he gets to be a player, hes not happy until he can CONTROL his coach, and make up his own plays. he is also an orphan, who wants to be adopted by a good family. so he gets adopted by the lovely BOYDS, BUT lil bow wow is REALLY REALLY VERY SPOILED! so although he has a loving family, he wants to get adopted by his idol tracy renalds. throughout the movie he's never faced an actual challenge. in the entire NBA, no one was a challenge for him, everytime he shoots, the ball goes in, he can dunk anywhere and over anyone. the shoes make him INVINCEABLE LITERALLY! what a boring movie! no climax? every movie should have at least TWO climaxes! movie was just a ego booster for the spoiled brat lil bow wow.

Summary: At last, a film that Mommy enjoyed.
Review: Taking my 7 year old daughter to the movies gives me an opportunity to securely sit next to her and take a rare nap, but I not only stayed awake throughout Like Mike - I literally loved it. It had a nice plot, hysterical cameo appearances by NBA stars, and great messages. While I agree with the young girls who find Lil Bow Wow to be so adorably cute, Morris Chestnut isn't bad to look at either! Like Mike is definitely a movie that adults will enjoy alone or with children.

Summary: Like Mike - *** Stars
Review: "All orphans have destinies," says young Calvin Coolidge (now Bow Wow) early on in this contemporary melding of "It Happens Every Spring" and "Boys Town," and the line signals that writers Michael Elliott and Jordan Moffet are at least recognizing the specific humanities of their storyline: Calvin, a diminutive 14-year-old boy whose love is basketball but whose dream is to have parents, no longer believes. He doesn't believe he'll ever be good at the hoop game, and he doesn't believe he will ever be adopted. Here, just as with those films of 60 years ago, the outcome is needful -- there must be a happy ending -- and it is in the narrative arc between Calvin's despair and his ultimate ordained happiness that "Like Mike" ends up a jump ball.

In the lead as the boy who is given super-physical powers by wearing the old childhood shoes of Michael Jordan and is signed by a pro basketball team, Bow Wow seems (almost desultorily) comfortable with the camera, which is not surprising, given that he has been performing on stage as a hip-hopper since his discovery at the age of 6 by rap veteran Snoop Dogg. As the Spencer Tracy variant, the paternal figure here being one Tracey Reynolds, slumping star of the NBA's struggling Los Angeles Knights who seems less intent on winning on the court than winning in the bedroom as a Shaft with the ladies, Morris Chestnut ("Two Can Play That Game") never brings a genuine warmth to his role, even when his character undergoes his also-needful transformation and comes to care for the tyke entrusted to him by the team coach (Robert Forster of "Jackie Brown") in an improbable conclusion. Given the tale, in which a young soul faces a heartless world, the inclusion of a human malefactor seems unnecessary; as the orphanage manager who bilks his wards for money and hits the jackpot with Calvin's sudden pro-sports riches, Crispin Glover ("Charlie's Angels") seems an odd choice for an odd character.

The "Like Mike" TV ad campaign had a schizoid nature: In the wide-demo broadcast TV spots, "Like Mike" seemed to be an urban basketball fantasy; in the child-demo cable spots, the film's all-flags friendship between the young black protagonist and two fellow orphans, a young white boy (Jonathan Lipnicki of "The Little Vampire") and an Asian-American girl (Brenda Song of "Leave It to Beaver"), had the ascendancy. And, although a smaller part of the movie, it's that substory that works more authentically for "Like Mike's" likely demo. However intoxicating young moviegoers might find Calvin's on-court success, what was needful onscreen was more of the simple humanity a story about orphans should not only have recognized but delivered. All children, like Calvin, sometimes feel like residents of the island of misfit toys, but however much they like the passing thrill of strangers' cheers what they really want is the lasting warmth of the companionship of friends.

Summary: WOW! THIS IS AMAZING!!!! :-D :-D :-D
Review: I never thought I'd say this, but today "Home Alone 4" has actually LEFT MY DVD PLAYER for the first time EVER!!!! And I replaced it (temporarily) with LIKE MIKE! This movie is WONDERFUL with a CAPTIAL w! YAY!

The movie is so light, pointless, dull, and annoying (the only way movies should be made! :-D), that me, Sethy, Corey, and Tony love it! It's about Little Bow Wow (whom we love at my daycare in pennsylvnia *!!!*) finding magic shoes and becoming like Mikey Jordan! He runs and flies through the air like a trapeze artist!!!! And after all, SPECIAL EFFECTS make movies, not dialogue or plot, which is why this movie is soooo much better than that awful, disturbing, scary "Taxi Driver" movie. YIPES!!!

I would've given this movie more stars, but Eugene Leeevy is in it, and he was also in American Pie, where he was very offensive and caught his boy doing some awful awful things to a poor, helpless pastry. OH MY GREAT GOLLY GOSH! But I recommend Like Mike!!! I WANNA BE LIKE MIKE TOO!!! Hehe!

Your pal, Mervie!

Summary: Fantastic Movie For Kids!
Review: Great flick! Rented it from the library on a whim because I saw that Robert Forster was in it. Surprisingly good. Well acted and directed. The ending made me cry I am embarassed to say (tears of joy).

Summary: Not a masterpeice, but good for what it was
Review: I didn't want to see this movie, but anything the kids want to see I feel obligated to watch with them at least once. I was surprised. The 'orphan boy' story has been done and re-done, so I was looking to be seeing more of the same -- and i did. But I still found it okay for kids. They need these simple stories of kids empowering themselves. So don't look for deeper meaning, just let the kids enjoy it.

Summary: Brilliant. Simply brilliant.
Review: Ah..."Like Mike". What's to be said about this current masterpiece that hasn't been said already? Beautiful...ingenious...breathtaking...simply stunning. I thought movies like "Scarface" and "The Exorcist" were well written and fantastic, but this... this is simply the best. Move over, Robert DeNiro - there's a new Hollywood legend in town, and his name is Little Bow Wow.

When Little Bow Wow finds the shoes that say "MJ" in them, well, I couldn't possible have imagined where this story was going. But when I found out that he would gain great basketball-playing skills by wearing them, I cried "BRAVISSIMO!" and gave it a standing ovation. I mean, really! Who ever would have thought of that? And when Little Bow Wow joined the NBA, performed insane tricks, and got attention from all of the NBA, well, I actually had to run to the bathroom and dunk my head in the sink and remind myself it was just a movie. I walked back, and watched more. It wasn't until Little Bow Wow was bragging to his little friend about getting room service that...I wept. I shed a tear. "E.T." wishes it could be this heartwarming, touching, and memorable.

All in all, I think this movie is a masterpiece. And trust me, I am a man who knows his movies.

Although sometimes my sarcasm gets the best of me...

Summary: Surprisingly Enjoyable!
Review: I must say, I figured this would be a pretty fun movie to watch and make fun of. It was actually much better than I expected though. I figured that the plot would follow along the same lines as an Olsen twins movie (you know the one, a bunch of rambuctious, but loveable kids get into all sorts of ridiculous situations). Don't get me wrong, the plot wasn't out-of-this-world amazing, far from it.

The whole story was actually quite far fetched, but at least it was written in a way in which they can explain off some of the obvious questions. For example, Bow Wow doesn't just get signed to the team to play, he's actually just signed to get the team more of a fanbase as the youngest NBA player ever. This at least stopped me from thinking how absurd it was for an 11 year-old to be playing in the NBA.

Basically, the film is very predictable, what do you expect, it's a kid's movie! It is a very good film for kids though (and certian teens too I suppose, considering I enjoyed it). It's definatly a good, wholesome film about some "rambunctious-but-loveable-kids."
