Summary: Grab someone you love to hear laugh!!!
Review: This is one of our favorite movies. We are a family of four, that includes two teen-agers 14, and 16. We have not seen The Visitors, and will have to get it for sure since everyone has said it is like Monty Python, and all of us crack up on those movies. Just Visiting is so funny that no matter how many times you watch it, you still laugh. I was surprised at how well Christina Applegate played her part. She was perfect. Jean Reno and most especially Christian Clavier are hysterical. You will laugh til you cry. This will be a classic we will keep for years. Enjoy it!

Review: This is one of those movies that only looked averagely funny in the previews, but since I love time travel related films, I had to go see it.
Two Frenchmen from the 12th century -- the tough but well-meaning Count Thibault and his easygoing servant, Andre -- get accidentally transported to Chicago in the year 2000 via a wizard's magic gone awry after he tried to send the man back in time to prevent a terrible disaster.
Once there, he meets Julia, the long descendant of his bride. He natually mistakes the modern young woman for her. The two of them stay at her and her fiance, Mark's house in the city - slowly getting used to life 800 years in the future and learn about modern technology. In a few particularly fall down funny scenes, they look at a toilet and think it's a magic fountain, and that cars are red dragons (even going to far as to smash the [heck] out of one). Later, they turn on a TV, and proclaim, in their typically heavy French accents, "It's a bunch of leetle people trapped iin-side zee box!" and attack it with a sword.
On a more serious note, at first, no one believes Thaibault when he says where he came from (all thinking he's a modern-day relative they've never met, and that he's simply confused). Andre, on the other hand, begins to take to life in 2000 pretty well, even, - through a string of heroism and coincidence - starting to fall in love with a female neighbor. He slowly wants his freedom from Thaibault, but his master won't agree.
Meanwhile, the wizard transports himself to the future and tries to find them. Quite interestingly, he seems to have no adjustment problems to the foreign time and pretty much blends right in. Over time, Julia begins to believe Thaibault when he says where he truly comes from. Not to mention, they all end up slowly untangling a plot involving the scheming Mark.
If you like Bill & Ted-esque time travel comedies (just the opposite scenario here) with a little bit of romance and action, you'll love this. As funny as it might seem to see the pair's actions in 2000, I suppose I shouldn't laugh too much. If I got dumped in 2800, I doubt if I'd do very good, LOL.

Review: This movie was hilarious! We loved it, and it takes a great movie to impress me. It was not what you expect, and any previews you may have seen did not show all the "good" parts.

Summary: Man, was this funny!
Review: This movie was so funny. I hadn't had a good laugh for a while. This movie, starring Jean Reno(Godzilla, The Professional and Ronin) as the hero back at the end of 12th century, and his dopy assistant accidentally get sent into the next millenium. His dopy assistant runs into a lovely character in the future(Tara Reid) and falls in love. Finally, giving him a chance to be free. Meanwhile, Jean Reno's character finds his great, great, great, great, great grand-daughter. He thinks it's the same one he married back in the 12th century, until he realizes the wizard sent him into the future. Not as good as Back To The Future, but still funny. This is a great recommendation, I loved it, especially Tara Reid!

Review: We fired up Just Visiting this evening. It was something we thought all of us (two adults and a 9 year old) could enjoy together. All of us really loved the movie. We laughed a great deal. It was very funny and clever. Christina Applegate is cuter than ever. Jean Reno is fantastic as usual. His goofy assistant was hilarious. This was one of the best family movies we've seen all winter. Tomorrow Night: the original French version

Summary: Just Visiting is a FUN family movie
Review: We rented this movie for our family to watch and ended up watching it 5 times before we had to return it. We laughed out loud throughout the whole movie. It's a great lighthearted comedy with lines that you will be quoting. In fact I'm asking for it for Mother's Day.

Summary: Pathetically American
Review: Wow, what an awful movie. Having lived in France and seen (and currently owning) the original French version, I thought it would be interesting to see how the American re-make was done. I have never been so disappointed in a film. Christina Applegate replacing Valerie Lemercier? Tara Reid as Christian Clavier's love interest? Way off base. While it is true that French humor doesn't translate into American English very well (either linguistically or culturally), I would still recommend seeing the original (Les Visiteurs) over this version. The film is supposed to be a comedy, but they've re-made it into a farce, a shell of its former self.
