Summary: Not what I want...
Review: I looked for this movie for a while before I actually found it. I'm a big Mandy Moore fan, and even though the reviews and the summary didn't really spark my interest I decided to buy it once I found it.
So now I have to wonder... why?
For as long as it took for this movie, it sure wasn't worth it. Correct me if I'm wrong here, but Elijah Wood is older than Mandy Moore, right? So it seems odd to me that he's playing such a young character. I know he LOOKS young, but he has an air about him that seems much older, and that just didn't seem to fit in (at least for me).
I don't understand the relationships, either. What is the attraction these women have to him?
The only thing about the movie that I really liked was Jones's (Elijah Wood's character) quest to find his father and to find some kind of past meaning to his life. That was really the only motivation to me.
The acting was really good from everyone, but I just didn't like it. Many of the characters seemed very... well, rude. I couldn't relate to them in any way. It's hard to be interested in a story when you can't relate. The character development was nice, but the plot was very weak.
I doubt I'll ever watch this again.

Review: I loved this movie. I really don't know why. I just saw it and all my friends thought it was stupid but I liked it. This was a movie about love that just kinda played with your mind. The end of the movie left a lot of questions to be asked but I like movies like that. All and all the story was good and the acting was ok (they could have gotten better actors but hey no movie is perfect.)

Summary: "Sweet little coming of age film"
Review: I really enjoyed Elijah Wood and Franka Potente in this film. It is what I would call a B-movie, but if you are an Elijah Wood fan I think you will enjoy it. There were some silly scenes such as the dream sequences that I thought were not so good, but then again we are talking about the kind of dreams a 17 year old with little confidence yet would have and usually they involve the kid as the hero in his or her own fantasys. I really could have done without Deborh Harry though, to me that was very strange.
I think the best parts of the movie were toward the end involving Jones's (Elijah Wood) Mom and Frank Potente's character. The strongest part of the story for me was Jones's relationship with his mom played by (Elizabeth Perkins). I think she did exceptional acting. Also, they did a really nice job with the music in the movie, it kept the story line moving along. I would probably guess kids in their late teens and 20's would like this movie more than those in their 30's or older. Probably geered more toward Elijah Wood fans, which I am though I am not a teenager anymore. :)

Review: I really liked this movie it was funny and has replay value. Mandy does a great job playing lisa. Elijah wood is good too even though it seemed funny seeing frodo smoking and drinking. A must for a fan for either actor.

Review: I rented this movie simply because I'd heard of it previously since I adore Elijah Wood. I think this was a great movie. Very cute in it's own little romantic way. He's adorble and the movie is as well. I think it's a nice rany day movie for any elijah or screwy indie fan.

Summary: Watch It Twice
Review: I saw this as one of the first Elijah Wood films after my interest in his career peaked after his Frodo role. I have so much enjoyed each of his movies. This was was really different, and I wasn't sure how to take it at the first viewing. But the scene near the end when "this isn't happening" happens was the one that really grabbed me. I thought it completely real and subtley but certainly erotic. So several weeks later, I watched it again. This time I knew what was going to happen and I watched it with different eyes. The second time, I thought it was excellent. The acting talent, script, pace and the quirky music all worked together to give a satisfying viewing experience. Elijah picks scripts that are deeper than what's on the surface, and this type of thought provoking movie is what makes this movie one you should watch--twice or more. Just remember that Elijah is an actor--he's not Frodo. And a superb actor he is.

Summary: Reading too much into it...
Review: I think people read too much into this movie. I don't see it as a coming of age story or a teeny bopper flick. I mean let's face it, the only teeny bopper is Moore and she plays one of the older women. Granted the story line isn't the best, but the characters are amazing. You got a young dreamer played by Wood who is not satisfied with what the world is handing him and finally does something about it. There is a striving actress who is not good at all and it shows in her all around character. Then there is the mysterious photographer/artist who is a little freaky, but then a door opens into her life and we see her for what she really is. I really don't think the fact that Wood plays a seventeen year old should be relevant. It only says that seventeen is usually the age where your life makes its first drastic changes. I for one loved the change that Dillon and his mom had towards one another throughout the movie.

Review: I was highly skeptical of this film for many reasons, none of which I will bore you with here. Being an EW fan, I was too curious to pass on this one, so I rented it from my friendly nieghborhood video store. I am surprised I liked it so much because I went into it with extremely low expectations. Elijah Wood (Dillon Jones) plays a quirky 17 year-old college drop-out (with his usual charm) who is looking for the love and acceptance he never got from his selfish parents. He moves into an apartment building and makes friends with it's equally quirky tenants. Brad was my favorite, played wonderfully by Aaron Pearl. Debbie Harry did surprisingly well as Ma Mabley who takes a liking to Jones when he goes to her furniture store. The "dream sequence" with her is slightly disturbing though and shouldn't be viewed by anyone with a weak stomach. The "R" rating is more for the language than the sexuality which is quite mild by today's standards. Mandy Moore and Franka Potente turn in adequate performances as Jones on and off love interests. If you're looking for a good indie film, this is worth a rent at least.

Review: I watched All I want, and it was all I wanted. It's a film with weird characters, the weirdest was Wood's fantasy imagination. The movie goes nowhere and is a 93 minute mess.

Review: In "All I Want," 17 year-old Jones Dillon (Elijah Wood) is packed off to college by his attractive mother, Blanche (Elizabeth Perkins). It seems that Jones is used to being packed off to boarding school, so college should be just the next step. But after a traumatic first day, Jones simply drops out. Using inheritance money from his grandfather, he finds a flat and tries to come to some sort of terms with his past. I struggled between awarding 3 or 4 stars to this film. On one hand, it was full of wonderful quirky characters--Brad, the handyman-artist who dresses like he's an extra for Village People, Ma Mabley (Deborah Harry in a lilac jumpsuit), the lonely used furniture shop owner who surprisingly sneaks her way into Jones's fantasy life, and Lisa, the vain, ambitious model/actress whose life is a never-ending screen test. Another postive aspect of this film was Jones's fantasy life. What real-life failed to provide, well, he just created. I liked that. However, on the down side, the primary relationship in the film is between Jones and his wild neighbour, the photo-snapping Jane (Franka Potente). I can see why Jones was attracted to Jane, but I really couldn't see what motivated Jane's interest in Jones. Here the film collapsed for me, and since it was the primary relationship, and the focus of the film, well.... I really like watching Franka Potente, but whenever Elijah Wood appeared on the screen, I found myself saying "it's Frodo." Not his fault, I know, but the unrealistic relationship between Wood and Potente just fostered that incredulity for me--displacedhuman.
