Summary: Shallow Hal - Rating: half a star
Review: Theres no reason why you would like this movie. Shure, theres some laughs, but the fact is, it tries to be a romantic comedy, and it fails miserably. An all star cast can't even save this utterly stupid premis. Good idea once again turned into trash by the Farrley brothers, who should retake directing school. Not anything worth seeing, I didn't expect much and I got even less.

Summary: The Farrely Free Fall continues
Review: Can someone tell me why J.Black is considered funny? The guy is way overrated, and his schtick gets old fast. The rapid fire delivery of his lines, and the widening of his eyes at the end of the dialogue that's supposed to be funny. He's too much for me,a true comic genius.Check him out in airborne,he's still using the same tired mannerisms. And don't expect to learn some kind of lesson,or to be enlightened,it's a goofball comedy without the laughs.A succesion of every fat joke cliche imaginable.Effective comedy is insightful, honest not hostile and one dimensional.I don't have a problem with poking fun at a particular group of people,no one should be off limits, but there should be some level of sophistication involved with the delivery or the sight gags. It's beginning to look like Dumb and Dumber was the pinnacle of the Farrely's career. At least there was something to laugh about in that one.If you must see this film, please go to the matinee,it's not worth 9,10 bucks. To tell you the truth,it has straight to video written all over it.PS-J.Alexander was terrific as part of a talented ensemble cast, but he's lost outside of that world.Sein should have squeezed out 2 more seasons because that's it for all of them.

Summary: The BEST Farrelly movie yet!!!
Review: This movie was SOOOOO good! It's rare when a movie can bring tears of laughter and tears of sadness into a person's eyes. Gwyneth Paltrow is fantastic...and does not make overweight individuals look bad. Anyone who claims so is crazy....What Ms. Paltrow has done, has made shallow individuals look bad and actually portrayed overweight people in a better light than anything else Hollywood has done. This concept really makes you think. Anyone wishing to laugh, go see this. Anyone wishing to cry, go see this. Anyone wishing to just have a good time, go see this. This movie is superb.

Summary: Jack Black and Gwyneth what more do you want?
Review: (...)Shallow Hal did not dissapoint for me. Those who say that this movie is offensive, must not realize who made this movie. I mean hello, it's a Farrelly Brother's production for crying in a bucket, the same wierdo's who made "Dumb & Dumber" and the grose out Jim Carrey comedy "Me, Myself & Irene" (...)
On the whole this is a movie that the more you think about it the more you start to like it. It is not an offensive tale, but a warm story of the ability of a shallow man to shift his paradigm. Black is funny as always, and Jason Alexander is a surprise being quite funny in parts too (I guess this movie escaped the Seinfeld curse)! I would even go as far as to say that there are moments in this movie that are almost touching, which may or may not work. So in summary, give this a chance - who knows you might just find yourself smiling... Here's Hoping!

Summary: The Best
Review: Shallow Hal, how shallower can this man get. He only likes the nockout women, not the larger ones which he is dating. To him she is tiny but to the whole world besides him she is more like three times his size. This was s great movie, hilarous, i recomend no children under thirteen. To the older children and parents i believe you will love this movie. Well off i go to see it again.

Summary: Don't take it too seriously fat people!!

Summary: Classic comedy; a must see.
Review: This movie was hilarious. If you enjoyed dumb and dumber, kingpin, there's something about mary, or me, myself, and irene, you'll love this movie. Don't listen to people who base their opinion of the movie just on the trailer. That's the stupidest thing i've ever heard. If you actually saw the movie before reviewing it, then you'd know that it actually has a good message and provides an couple of hours of pure entertainment.

Summary: The Farrelly Brothers did it again!
Review: Jack Black is a hilarious actor. Gwyneth Paltro is a beutifal, realistic actress. Jason Alexander is perfect as a sleazy, shallow sex-crazed maniac. Mix all this with the Farrelly brothers comedic talent and this movie is a can't miss. (...)

Summary: Mixed up message
Review: I'm confused...

If the movie is about questioning the stereotypes of beauty, then why is the picture of beauty - even when it's inner - thin, blonde, beautiful(according to the stereotype) Gwyneth?

So the message the audience gets is: Gwyneth is hot. The fat suit is not. It is the body underneath that sells tickets.

What Hal falls in love with is the body underneath. And that body is still an unrealistic stereotype.

Good try, but the Farrelly brothers totally missed the point.

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: Laborious, lame and not funny at all.
Review: This film must rate as one of the worst comedies ever made. Jack Black is 'shallow Hal', who judges women merely by their outer appearance, not trying to see their inner beauty. He gets stuck in a lift with Tony Robbins, who hypnotises him to judge women by their inner beauty. Enter Gwyneth Paltrow, who is actually obese, but Hal sees her as a knock-out, thanks to this hyptonised self. Meanwhile, Hal's friend (played by Jason Alexander) who is as shallow as him, manages to find out everything about the hypnosis and convinces Robbins to de-hypnotise Hal. Hal then realises that Paltrow is actually not as beautiful as he thought and he must make a decision. Does he go back to his usual shallow self or does he recognise Paltrow's inner beauty and continue with her?

The story line is incredulous with gaping logic holes. The direction is pathetic and it is obvious that the Farrelly brothers could not make up their mind as to whether to make this film funny or romantic. Ultimately, it is neither funny nor romantic. If anything, it is an insult to obese people. Paltrow's body suit is totally unrealistic and pathetic, in the last scene, even though her face and body are fat, one can clearly see that they forgot to make her hands fat! There is a twist in the tail (I meant tale!) for Jason Alexander in the end, but that is also not funny at all.

Overall, this is a must-miss film, totally not funny and absolutely boring.
