Summary: A little bit of "Awww..." and a little bit of "Ewwww...!"
Review: I've always loved Adam Sandler, and I love watching him grow (or, I suppose, more accurately, grow up). I loved Billy Madison and Happy Gilmore -- those totally bizarre and immature earlier films that were often so random that they made me pause and ask, "Huh?" And I'll even admit that I was a little disappointed when Adam started actually acting instead of just being an idiot on-screen. But now I'm perfectly comfortable with the grown-up Adam -- and I'm glad he can act a little bit and be an idiot at the same time. Mr. Deeds is the perfect combination of story and the bizarre humor that made me love Adam Sandler in the first place.

In Mr. Deeds, Sandler plays Longfellow Deeds, a pizza place owner from small-town New Hampshire, who gets the surprise of his life when he discovers that he's the only living relative of a recently-deceased media mogul. Deeds is taken to New York City and given the star treatment as he waits for the paperwork to go through. That's when he meets Babe Bennett (played by Winona Ryder, the poor girl who obviously didn't get paid enough for her role, and it drove her to theft), a TV reporter, disguised as an innocent small-town-girl-turned-big-city-school-nurse. Little does Deeds know that the woman he's falling for is the same person who's making him look like a misfit on TV.

Mr. Deeds is a great movie. It's got a little bit of "Awww..." mixed with a little bit of the typical Adam Sandler "Ewwwww...!" Could you really ask for anything more?

Summary: It's a Shame that a Zero-Star Rating is not Available
Review: Life is too short to waste viewing such a sophomoric, dim-witted remake of a truly great movie, Mr. Deeds Goes to Town. Do yourself a favor and watch the original instead.

Summary: Comedy With Character
Review: I loved this movie! It is the perfect balance between comedy, romance and personal character. Adam Sandler plays a simple man who is caring, compassionate, honest & generous. Adam's character "Deeds" make other people feel comfortable around him, and he won't let others disrespect him or anyone else. He gives away 40 billion dollars, because it comes between him and finding love. Then live rewards him with both love and money. It is a true feel good, happily ever after movie. A must see!

Summary: Very entertaing
Review: This movie is basically about this guy who's not that smart and suddenly he gets inherited with 40 bllion dollars. It's Adam Sandler so I was expecting a mediocore comedy thaat doesn't really stay with you, but this proved to be otherwise.
It had a poor dvd format, but I don't care, It's a great show

Summary: Watchable Adam Sandler film, but not a keeper
Review: This is kind of a by-the-numbers Capra tale, but lacking a sense of script sophistication that could have made it better. The script plays like a good first draft that has yet to be touched up with better touches of pacing.
The actors do a fine enough job, but the dialogue sounds like it was written from a crib-noted version of a Beginning Screenwriting course.
The weakest script and movie moments occur in the hero's small, idyllic New Hampshire hometown. The offbeat locals are a bit TOO offbeat and seem to be written as walking punchlines, though they just aren't all that funny.
Sandler's character seems to move from situation to situation because the script and plot conveniently call for it, but not because there is a logical through-line in the script itself.

This is a sometimes pleasant comedy that never really offends viewers but never really rewards them with anything original or too intelligent either.

Summary: A good entry in the Adam Sandler catalog
Review: Adam Sandler is, without question, one of the funniest actors in the world today. I like his films so much, that I have seen just about every recent one in the theater, and I'm sure many of you are no different. In 2002, Sandler tried something different - a loose remake of a film from the thirties. Read on to for my review of Mr. Deeds.

BASIC PLOT:
One of the world's richest men has died during a climb up one of the world's largest mountains. His fortune of forty billion dollars goes to his closest living relative, who it turns out, is a small-town pizza place owner. Two men from the company take him to New York to sign the papers to get the money, but these men have an ulterior motive. They want to put several people out of work, just to make some quick money. The plot of this film is VERY hard to explain. It helps to actually SEE the movie to know what I mean by all this.

FILM OPINIONS:
Overall, this was a good film. It's no The Waterboy or Big Daddy, but at least it's better than Sandler's godawful animated film, Eight Crazy Nights. Unfortunately, Sandler portrays a character, who for the most part, is an innocent guy, so don't expect the off-the-wall humor you get in most of his films. That's not to say he doesn't do anything funny. You'll get to see him beat up some high-society types, and even get drunk and egg cars with John McEnroe! This is far from being Sandler's best film, but it's still worth checking out.

DVD:
The DVD gives you all the basic features you'd expect - scene selections, trailers for this and other films, commentary, behind-the-scenes footage, and the holy grail of DVD extras - deleted scenes. The deleted scenes don't really reveal anything important (probably the reason they were deleted), but they're worth watching if you liked the film. Sadly, the DVD doesn't give you a choice of full screen or widescreen, you have to buy one or the other.

OVERALL:
Mr. Deeds is a good entry in the Adam Sandler catalog, though not one of the best. Still, if you're a Sandler fan (and who isn't?), I recommend checking this movie out.

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: One star is too many
Review: Mr. Deeds isn't funny, the love story has zero chemistry, and the ending makes no sense. You'd think that a comedy without laughs would at least have something to look at, or a story. But no. There's nothing here. Okay, Adam Sandler has some charisma and John Tuturro does a good job. But I never want to see this movie again. Seriously, The Matrix had more laughs.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Adam's not such a bad guy after all.
Review: Mr. Deeds is a very funny movie and I couldn't stop laughing!
Adam Sandler is his usual silly self without all the cursing,
and this time he's actually playing a decent person! This
1930's remake of the same movie is a story about friction consisting of doing whats right and being very selfish. Its awesome how Longfellow Deeds is able to keep his simple ways even being a billionare. And one thing's for sure you wont find many wealthy folks giving up all their inheritance away to The United Negro College fund either. Anyway this movie can relate to all people of all backgrounds because it shows how money is not everything. This is a great movie to watch if you love comedy and love to laugh. Hit the video store and watch the older version as well!
