Summary: This is one of the best movies I have ever seen in my life.
Review: This is one of the best movies I have seen this decade. It is loaded with subtle ironies and hillarious situations. Well-acted by Witherspoon, this movie takes the cake.

Summary: So Very Under-hyped!
Review: This is an outstanding comedy. Which is funny on so many levels. There are jokes you don't get the 1st time through. Saw it with friends and we found ourselves laughing at jokes the rest of the movie audience wasn't getting! Had this movie been promoted as much as Rushmore, (which came out at nearly the same time but is not half as funny) it would have done incredible business.

Summary: The best movie about high school life
Review: This film is funny and honest; as I watched it, I said to my self, "This is just like my school!"

Summary: MTV finally did the right thing...
Review: Who would have thunk that MTV would have actually realesed something worth watching? ELECTION is a great comedy with hilarious performances, especially by Ms. Reese Witherspoon, who really shows actual talent that goes far beyond the classic teen-move genre that I recognized her from. (okay, so Pleasentville wasn't really a teen movie, but she played a rather stereotypical teen part, didn't she?) Matthew Broderick gives his best performance to date as a disgruntled teacher who goes out of his way to ruin the ever positive Tracy Flick (Mr. Witherspoon).

The political jabs in the film are obvious, and even exagerated: The back-stabbing, sex obsession, morally (or is it ethically?) corruption that is center in everything political, revenge, spite...the list goes on. This is truly a great movie, one of the best of 1999. MTV should be proud of doing something right for a change by letting us see this pick flick. Now let's hope they keep it up...but they probably won't!

Summary: In a year of great movies, this is the best
Review: Election is truly the funniest, most realistic look into the High School environment that has come out so far. The funny lines will have you saying them over and over again for weeks.

Summary: The Greatest movie of the year!!Reese Witherspoon was GREAT!
Review: I loved this movie. Reese Witherspoon played a great part in it. All the sexual surprises in the film was great. There has got to be a sequel!!!! Everyone will enjoy it.

Summary: PURE MAGIC!
Review: "Election" works because all of the elements fit perfectly into place. Performances are all absoulutely first rate. This film has CONTENT, which will make it stand out as a classic for years to come. The trials and tribulations of a teacher's chaotic relationship with an over-achieving student with stark and comic results. "Election" will make the PERFECT DVD as you will find yourself going back for repeat viewings again and again! Thanks Paramount!

Summary: Funniest Movie of the Year.... No Contest
Review: Why did a movie like AMERICAN PIE do so well in the box office when this movie was so much better and funnier? Because it just wasn't promoted right. Maybe it was that MTV logo that people saw and thought, this can't be good. It's a shame that this movie didn't do better in the box office. And people wonder why they keep coming out with the big action films with nothing but special effects and CGI, and not better films with great screenplays like ELECTION.

This and and the film "GO" are in my opinion the two best films so far of 1999. And practically nobody saw them.

I won't be surprised if ELECTION gets a few oscar nominations, especially for the adapted screenplay, and maybe a nomination for Reese Witherspoon, in what the best performance so far in her career.

Summary: A disarmingly crafty flick
Review: I barely knew what to make of this other than I really liked it. Certainly there is the story of a teacher doing himself in by trying to put the class overachiever in her place. Then there is the angle of the teacher who suspects he's not getting all he should out of life and strikes out. (only to have it backfire on him) But a scarey lesson that might be lurking beneath the surface is that those who can, do. Those who can't, teach. The performances are, for the most part, excellent. Reese Witherspoon even WALKS right. There are a lot of nifty gags and some genuinely touching (bordering on sad) stuff. Do the indiscretions people indulge in here warrant the penalties they receive? Is what they receive what they should have had all along? As funny as this movie is, it takes a hard look at some things, and I found myself squirming in my chair more than a few times. Definitely worth a watch.

Summary: The Best Ever!
Review: ELECTION is absolutley terrific. It is so much funnier and smarter than say, AMERICAN PIE. You have to at least rent ELECTION if you don't end up buying it here! The film is brilliant.
