Rating: Summary: good movie Review: If you're a fan of Jim Carrey, you may be disappointed and I don't blame you. This is unlike any other movie I've seen him in.But overall it is a good movie about a psycho cable installer (Carrey) who obsesses over his newest customer (Broderick). The cable installer, Chip, gains more control over Steven (Broderick's) personal life as the movie progresses. It has some hillarious scenes and is also a bit disturbing, but funny at the same time. I like it.
Rating: Summary: Amazing Movie Review: This movie is Jim Carey's best work by far. My friends and I never stopped laughing at this movie--- and it's a shame that it did so bad in the box office. Wow, Jim Carey is actually FUNNY... although I suppose it's nice to take a break from the normal routine of... well, saying dumb [stuff] all the time. Best scene? It's a tie between the Mideval Times scene and the basketball scene, both of which meritted a rewinding. The entire scenario of the guy who killed his twin brother is hilarious as well. I suggest yopu check it out if you haven't already.
Rating: Summary: Hilarious! Review: This movie is a great! Jim Carrey's comic genius shines in this delightfully absurd comedy. The best part is the basketball game. Carrey's "slam-dunk" is absolutely hilarious. Also, the Foreign audio tracks are a RIOT!! They're as funny as the original English audio! They may seem useless to Americans, but believe me...they're hilarious! The French audio track had me in stitches. Funny as hell, man! The guy who does the French voice-over of Carrey is so funny...he even has a lisp!!
Rating: Summary: Comedy and Tragedy mixed to perfection. Review: A perfect mix of comedy and tragedy, they mix so well. It is dark and comic at the same exact time. And it's hardly much different from the films he's done before. It, at least had a sentimental reaction, and to see Carrey doing that for the first time was surreal. Like Mickey Mouse decided to stay overnight at your house and brought his toothbrush and everything. I'm not saying every bit in Cable Guy was revolutionary or spectacular or good even, but it made such a unique, moody impression. Something about it just felt sooo strange. It's like something 2D (the typical pathetic guy stereotype) and making it 3D, there's a lot of depth to follow through on, and it has creepy undertones.
Rating: Summary: Not one of Carrey's best movies Review: When I first watched this movie, I was expecting it to be as hilarious like Dumb and Dumber and The Mask but unfortunately, it wasn't, the first half of the movie was entertaining and watchable, the second part loses its steam. The movie is about a young man named Steve Kovacs (Matthew Broderick) who recently broke up with his girlfriend (Leslie Mann) after he proposes to her, then Steve decides that he wants to have cable, then enter Chip Douglas (Jim Carrey) and boy does that name sound familiar? The classic moments were the Karokee scene, the Mideavel Times restaurant, the scene when Chip beats up Robin's date in the bathroom and the porno password game, but after that part is when the movie loses its steam.P>If you love Jim Carrey and never seen any of his movies, watch Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, The Mask, Me Myself and Irene and my #1 favorite Dumb and Dumber, only recommended for diehard Carrey fans.
Rating: Summary: Wish I could give it one... Review: This has got to be the worst mouvie I have ever seen. I've always liked Jim Carrey and thought he could never go wrong, I was obviously mistaken. The basic idea of this mouvie is great, but they made it WAY to dark for a good comedy. Mouvies like "Very Bad Things" works as a very dark comedy because it never goes away, the colour stays through the entire mouvie. In this one, it never seems clear if they were going for comedy, dark comedy, or just dark. I never really understood the point of this mouvie and hopefully never will. Easily the worst mouvie I've ever seen... recemmended to no one.(Even the people I hate)
Rating: Summary: Underappreciated and Misunderstood Gem Review: I cannot fathom for the life of me anyone who did not enjoy this movie. I think the reason for the bad reviews is that people expected this movie to be a carbon copy of The Mask and Ace Ventura. Those movies were good, but this one is better. Ben Stiller masters satire in this movie and I love the darkness of the film. The dual at Medieval Times was side splitting. I really loved this film. See it and don't listen to the negative reviews. Hey, it's priced at a bargain, so you will be getting it for a steal.
Rating: Summary: Was This The Beginning of Jim Carrey's End? Review: THE CABLE GUY is the kind of schlock that not only helped put the antics of Jim Carrey on the map but also pointed out how annoying he could be if and when he wasn't reigned in. Ben Stiller directs affably. Carrey preens affably. The plot progresses ... affably, yet it still feels somewhat bland and empty. Apart from one hilarious sequence (and homage to classic Star Trek) involving Carrey and the ever-pubescent-looking Matthew Broderick 'fighting to the death' at Medieval Times, there isn't much to remember here. Still, if you're in the mood for a few dark laughs, the film succeeds.
Rating: Summary: movie good, DVD [STINKS]!!! its like VHS! Review: The movie is good...Carry steals the show but hey who doesnt like that???!!!!! Many call it stupid, but I like it! ...
Rating: Summary: The funniest movie I have ever seen. Review: The cable guy is a dark twisted hillarious comedy about a Cable guy who says his name is Chip Douglas(Jim Carry). A guy named Steven Kovacs who is dumped by his fiancee moves into a new apartment his cable goes out. he calls the cable company and a crazy cable guy goes into fix the cable. Well the cable guy thinks that Steven is his best friend, and then gradually gets crazier and crazier. it is hysterically funny, especially the part where they go to mid evil times restaraunt and Steven and Chip get into a jousting fight. It is really dark, mostly since the cable guy is a derranged freakish maniac who's idea of friendship includes physical assault a jousting fight, and a game of porno password, Ben Stiller did an excellent job in the directors chair. This is one of Carry's greatest performances. I would reccomend this masterpiece for all comedy fans. this is the most underrated film f all time...
