Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Contrived and unoriginal, but entertaining
Review: This movie is completely contrived and unoriginal (rip-off of Home Alone, released 3 years prior to this one); however, Matthau and Gamble have genuine chemistry. In fact, it's worth watching the movie just for Mason Gamble; he is absolutely adorable and completely plausible as the misunderstood Dennis Mitchell.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Excellent Movie.
Review: Walter Matthau was excellent. If you liked him as Mr. Wilson, then you'll love him in "The Odd Couple" & "The Odd Couple II" as Oscar Madison.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: The critics aren't always right.
Review: Walter Matthau, Joan Plowright, Lea Thompsom, Christopher Lloyd and Mason Gamble star in this well made and very funny movie. Mason Gamble is perfectly cast as Dennis Mitchell, the mischievous little boy who just can't stay out of trouble. The story follows Dennis's clashes with the grump next door, Mr Wilson, as well as a list of other people. Things are going well but when a thief enters the town, who do you think saves the day???

Dennis the Menace has a great cast and the actors fit their roles well. Walter Matthau is great as the grumpy Mr Wilson, while Joan Plowright is the complete opposite as the friendly Mrs Wilson. And Christopher Lloyd is just as good as the town thief. In fact, just about the whole cast is as good.

I can't understand why the critics don't like this movie. It's well acted, well made, well cast...need I say more. I guess you can't please everyone, but I think this is one of those cases where the critics are wrong.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Very entertaining and funny. Lighthearted
Review: What can one say about Walter Matthau? If he's in it it's got to be good, and so Dennis the Menace is. It is lighthearted and funny. It is wholesome and entertaining. Dennis, with all of his mischief is a loveable little boy, who's always getting into trouble. Mr. Wilson, he's canterkorous alright, but underneath that crusty disposition, lies a heart of gold. My husband and I are in our fifties and everytime we see this movie, we laugh. It reduces the bloodpressure and the stresses of life. My husband said that this is one movie he would like to have and so I'm buying it for him. Enjoy ElaineL874@aol.com Elaine Lipski

Summary: Sweet and Charming
Review: While this film does not break new cinematic ground; it was never intended to in the first place. Having said that, this is perhaps one of the most delightful, sweet and charming children's movie's I have ever seen. I say that with some amount of authority, as I have two young children, so watching children movies is something we do alot of.

What makes this movie so utterly unforgettable is the sweet charm displayed between Walter Matthau (Grumpy Mr. Wilson) and Dennis (Mason Gamble). There is a unique, understated quality to this movie, where the soundtrack is rather understated and in many scenes you simply watch young Dennis or Mr Wilson (or both) interacting in gentle, silent ways. The movie has become a favorite of my 4 1/2 year old girl (Dennis-like herself) to watch before she goes to bed. We have even memorized some of the scenes and act them out at dinner, like when Mr Wilson eats a piece of chicken that has accidently become victim to Dennis' paint & wood glob. Matthau is so good in that scene; just watch his facial expressions...hardly says a word, but what a classic comedic scene.

I can't rave enough about this movie, if only more movies could be made with such charm, care and love.
