Summary: A nice little romantic comedy
Review: "Trick" is a very sweet, romantic, light comedy about two young men in New York City trying to find a place for a bedroom tryst during the night they first meet. To say more would be to give the plot away, so will leave the rest for the viewer to learn. Both young stars are extremely attractive and one has the cutest set of dimples I've seen on film since the early Shirley Temple flicks. A great video on VHS. --Tamhiker

Summary: TRICK is definately a TREAT!!!
Review: I Saw the trailer for this film on an american movie channel called "Starz" in summer 2000 while I was on holiday and became quite interested in it by advertisement alone, so I decided to watch it while my family was out and about. I began....(and on that day I was feeling down) I totally loved the film from the get go....the indelible scene on the train where Christian Campbell [Gabe] is eyeing up J.P Pitoc on the train your first thought is "could a fella so pretty and physically defined possibly be gay too?" and the answer is yours for the taking....as they stroll off gabe seems shy whilst J.P is quite uninhibited about the situation so they go off to have an encounter and much to their dissapointment they get interrupted and look for an alternative place to finish what they should have started. Now I dont want to spoil the movie for you but i'll say this, it does not end up how you would expect it to, once you watch the events near the prelude, you get the impression of another "quick fling" type movie of gay origin, but its not. Once you get into the movie and it comes to a curtain you realise that this is a very sweet romantic story about 2 gay men who met each other by chance and didn't even plan it to be this way. This movie lets you know that gay men are not all sexually orientated or bohemians as depicted normally, for after watching this movie a gay man would feel he now has a place in society because thats what this film does, it creates a place for gay people without the prejudice or resentment. This film is where you want to be! It is good on the eyes, ears and heart as it touched me in a place I had rarely been touched, and I actually felt to cry for joy at the end for the two characters who ended up together.

It was not given enough praise here in England as it should have and I believe that there are many movies out there that are monotonous and very few can you watch and get a sense of fulfilment, TRICK is one of those movies that make you feel complete.

Such a sweet movie can only be designed as a Diamond in the rough and I say this because before watching this movie I was not in a very pleasant state, but after watching it I was so uplifted, I got that boost I needed.

The plot is Genuine, John Paul Pitoc is a brilliant actor likewise Christian Campbell and the hillarious Drag Queen, a beatifully put together film had me thinking about it for up to 3 weeks after I had seen it, and I have only seen it once up to this date and still get that feeling when I think about it.

So for me to say it is a sweet much needed story you need to get in you system would be superfluous so you need to now find out for yourself by purchasing it, and dont worry if you've never heard of it, buy it all the same.

this movie is superlative and deserves to be in any classic collection. this is the only instance I would tell you to trick yourself. Its definately a treat! I plan to buy it when I am 18 which is in 2 days cause I am dying to see it again.

Summary: Problems in gay paradise
Review: Trick has achieved an almost cult following by the gay community since the day it was released . It tells the story of the romance between a shy writer Campbell and muscle stripper Pitoc . They meet , they like each other , they just (at least at the beginning ) wanna have some time alone but something always happens and ruins their moments . The simplicity of the script is supposed to be a plus , making the whole thing seem more sweet , more human but it doesn't happen that way . The movie seems somehow too naive and frankly , boring . The cast is merely great . Pitoc is definetely the winner here but suprisingly the most laughs come from Tori Spelling's lines who actually gives a key supporting perfomance as Campbell's best friend . Campbell on the other hand is unappealing in the lead role , too shy and too unixpressible . Overall this is a dull movie and if it had a straight couple under the spotlight instead of a gay one then it would probably never have reached the theatres in the first place ( or Sundance as well ) .

Summary: Great cast, great script, sweet denoument
Review: I was taken in completely by this terrific movie. Even the inevitable ending was handled gracefully and without apology. Christian Campbell plays a young man (Gabe) whose heart is set on writing musicals, and although what bits and pieces we are given are hold-your-nose dreadful, it really doesn't matter because what we are given is only a beginning. It turns out that this movie's purpose will be to tell the story of his turning the corner toward becoming a whole person. The pivotal event is his adventures trying to hook up with a go-go-boy (played wonderfully by the very sexy and very talented John Paul Pitoc)in the face of one failure after another in finding a place to do the deed.

What really stands out in this picture is the terrific cast and screenplay. Especially juicy are the "grand-scene-and-aria" set pieces of Clinton Leupp, who plays a spiteful drag queen, and Tori Spelling, Gabe's Queen of De'nial best ... friend. The remaining performances are also winning, the main pair each breathing life into characters that might have been cartoons in less talented hands.

My recommendation is to buy this movie because you'll want to see it more than once. Unfortunately the DVD is short on extras - no doubt because films about gay men have short budgets at every stage of their distributions. Still, you probably won't be disappointed.

Summary: Cute!
Review: This is a cute movie. A great light movie for a rainy afternoon or a first date.

The story line is not too deep, and the characters are somewhat unbelievable. However, the eye candy is good and it's heart warming and fun.

Summary: Sensational!
Review: I love this movie, becuase it gives all of a sneak peek into different things we all like to see in a great romance movie: love, compassion, stress, skin, and the inevitable finale, the kiss. It is witty, fun, and "romantical." I am an avid movie fan, and this is surely in my top 5! I hope you consider it to any gay movie collection--it is a must have!

Summary: Too campy and cliche
Review: I try to support the gay community by watching films that attempt to represent it. This is one the gay community could have done without. I guess this movie would be alright if you're a stereotypical showtune-listening, Tori Spelling-loving, club kid, who falls head-over-heels for anything that looks good in a tight shirt.

The lives of most gay men, however, consist of much more than this. I prefer a film with a bit more substance. There is simply too much cliche in this film: gay club, one-night stand, broadway musical, and a muscle queen. And I think we've seen it better before.

There's very little originality here. If you're the kind of person that thinks these are the key issues in a gay man's life, and are willing to see them time and again, this film's for you. If you're tired of this stereotype, whether gay or straight, pass this one by.

Summary: A wonderful Movie
Review: I thought this was a great movie because it started out that Gabe just wanted sex, nothing else. He was sick of his mondain life and his jigalo of a room mate who always had women over and kicked him out for those nights. So he goes to a gay bar, and meets up with a gogo boy who is looking for the same thing, a good night. Through the hole movie every one keeps interupting them before they can get any where, which gives them time to get to know eachother. They come to find out that they love eachother and that it should all be about just sex. I liked the movie because it actually had two people learn what love is. Unlike most movies now does where its all about lust. Trick was a great movie.

Summary: One of the funniest gay films
Review: I LOVED this movie. It is funny, sweet, and romantic. Tori Spelling really surprised me with her acting abilities. I have seen her in Beverly Hills 90210 and was not impressed and when I saw this I was awestruck, this girl can actually act. I want to reccommend this movie to people who are tired of formulaic hollywood movies and want to try something different.
