Summary: Great story, touchs your heart.
Review: Friendship, love, support, setbacks, everything the life have for a friends group. A great story than bring us closer to the real gay persons, I mean, not everything are sex and parties (for that, look at QAF, lol).
I really enjoyed this film over and over, and makes me dream with my teen days in the way I wanted to be, and think about what I like to do when my hair becomes white.
If you want to feel yourrself romantic and have some whispers from the soul, take a look at this; by the way, the cast are very cute and make great performances.
The only "but" is for the script, almost all the gay cinema never touchs the reality of the bisexual life... Us the men who try to love the two sides of the life in a very honest way.

Summary: A cute, funny and charming comedy!!!
Review: The Broken Hearts Club can rightfully claim its place alongside classic comedies that nail the anxieties and triumphs of a generation, Ã la The Big Chill, Clueless or Reality Bites. But this film's closeknit group of friends just happens to live in West Hollywood and know a lot about gyms, clothes, and musicals. Think of it as, um, St. Homo's Fire, as mostly straight actors play single gays searching for the perfect man, job, party and life, while leaning on each other for emotional support. Frasier's John Mahoney shows his sensitive sage side as the patriarch who runs the guys' baseball team and the bar where the group works and hangs out. Everyone has some sort of issue they are trying to come to terms with: Patrick (Ben Weber) is debating whether to donate sperm so his sister can have a baby with her lesbian lover. Cynical Dennis (Timothy Olyphant) is unable to admit that he is in love with Kevin (Andrew Keegan), a teen who has just come out of the closet. Player Cole (Dean Cain) now feels the pain of rejection when he is dumped by a famous actor, who is still in the closet. This is a fun, smart, and sassy romantic comedy with plenty of bite and humourous situations. The cast is incredible and the characters are relatable. Writer-director Greg Berlanti focuses on universal feelings everyone can learn from, regardless of which team they're on. Recommended!!!!

Summary: Typical Gay Movie, not bad though
Review: This is your typical gay movie, or for that matter, typical movie. It was a light-hearted romantical comedy. It was nice. There were issues to deal with and all in the movie, but I guess I was just expecting something a little more involved and less obvious. Movies like that tend to lack interest for me. Oh well. It was a sweet movie.

Summary: A Good Film, Overall
Review: First things first. I am a HUGE Billy Porter fan, so all comments about his performance should be looked at from that p.o.v. Now, on with the review. All of the actors deliver outstanding performances, and if I saw this group of friends in real life, I would think that they were actually gay! With John Mahoney (Martin Crane, Frasier) as the patriarch of the group, Billy Porter (OUTSTANDING singer!), Zach Braff (JD - Scrubs), Dean Cain (Lois and Clark - The New Adventures of Superman), and Nia Long (Big Momma's House), this ensemble cast makes the movie a good date movie. However, there are stereotypes that could have been eliminated (gay men obsessed with body image, substance abuse, promiscuity), overall, this movie works on all other levels. BUY THIS MOVIE!

Summary: It's just like comfort food
Review: I've watched this movie more times than I can count - the first time was in West Hollywood where most of it was filmed, so I felt very familiar with the setting from the start. It doesn't break any new ground, except that it is a fun story about gay guys being gay, and yet it seems like it's about anyone. It inhabits the premise that being gay is just another normal way to be, and isn't that nice, for a change. It's not afraid of itself - if that makes any sense. Watch it, you'll feel warm and fuzzy.

Review: this movie was just fun. there were so many characters in it, each with their own personality that it kept you interested. there was no attempt to hide anything taboo in the movie. i also liked the fact that there was not the typical aids sufferer often seen in these types of movies. there was sex in the movie but i do not feel that sex was its main objective. to me the main idea of the movie was to show that gay men and women are looking for love just like straight people. everyone has love to give and most are just looking for someone to give that love to. the movie portrayed all the same trials and tribulations that straight relationships go through and i think it was intrended. the filmmaker is making the distinction that gay love is not different from straight love, and that is the statement the movie makes. this movie is good for a nice night at home, and will bring a smile to your face.

Summary: Enjoyable post-Y2k gay romantic comedy
Review: I enjoyed this film. A lot. Granted, it's not perfect - there is a lot of room for development and fine-tuning, but its a pleasant diversion - and one that would be a wonderful launchpad for many things, most feasibly a weekly one hour television drama series. I also enjoyed seeing such normal people on screen. Normal people, doing the things that normal people do today: talking, laughing, crying, reminiscing.... Sure, writer-director Greg Berlanti remains within a defined zone in terms of his representation of homosexuality and homosexuals, but the group of men he explores are presented comfortably and confidently. They become our friends, because they are like people we know. We see ourselves in them. And we have to face the similarities between their stories and ours - and there are parallels for everyone, whethere hetero-, homo- or somewhere in between. A minor quibble - I think that the score would have been so much stronger had at least one of the Carpenters' classics been an original. Maybe "We've Only Just Begun", since that is part what lies at the heart of this film. Jaded film buffs will not like THE BROKEN HEARTS CLUB. But so what? I don't think its targeted at that market anyway. BHC is a reminder that homosexuals are more than just 'gay' - there are people behind the labels - behind any label - and the challenge is for all of us to find that grain of self which is at the core of each individual's existence.

Review: If you enjoy rehashed stereotypes of gay characters, like the bitchy black queen, the motherly old man, the love-struck newbie, and the player who gets his in the end, then you'll love this lump of coal. At least it's full of all your favorite eye candy from the WB.
