Summary: A haphazard assault of stupidity.
Review: ... Aside from "The Addams Family" and its sequel, I've yet to see more of director Barry Sonnenfeld's work; after witnessing this troublesome atrocity, I'm not so sure I'd be willing to resign myself to one more of his films. The film is a haphazard assault of stupidity, on par with last's year ever-idiotic "Zoolander" and stoner-comedy "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back." There's nothing I can say in the film's favor, if there is anything that can be said at all about it. The film stars Tim Allen as Eliot, an advertising agent whose son hates him because he drives a Geo Metro, the car of choice of divorced fathers on their own. Through a series of mishaps, he becomes entangled with Anna (Rene Russo), whose estranged husband has just finished purchasing a bomb from some Russians who own a bar that is seen being robbed by two crooks who take the husband and a very hippie-fied Jason Lee hostage in their attempt to flee by air... do you see where this is going? That's right: nowhere. The simple plot, the characters, the absurdity, hardly matters, but it is the sheer lack of laughs or interest in the material that cannot be overlooked. From the waste of talent, to the inclusion of literally dozens of characters who bear no comical weight, the film goes from bad to worse as it ambles towards its anticipated conclusion. And I'm wondering, when did slapstick require an abundance of gun-slinging and firing shots to be entertaining? And, more importantly, whose decision was it to release a film with such touchy subjects as slim airport security, taking a plane hostage, or carrying a bomb onto an aircraft? The delay of "Big Trouble" as a result of the 9/11 attacks seemed somewhat noble; releasing it afterwards is like a slap in the face, to both comedy fans and those partial to the event itself.

Summary: Big Budget for Small Concepts, but Big Laughs
Review: Big Trouble isn't the kind of movie that will be favoured in the box-office. A plot revolving (no pun intended) around inept security, whacked cops, bad-shot assassins, moronic thieves, hallucinogen-squirting toads, and water guns doesn't exactly scream Academy Awards. But since when has any Tim Allen movies raised to that calibre? Big Trouble is a feel good comedy mixed with great punch lines, a touch of the ridiculous, and a microscopic amount drama. The cast consists of Tim Allen as Eliot Arnold: an ex-columnist, now in publicity, and a recently divorced father of a son who deems him a loser. Ben Foster plays Matt Arnold: son of Eliot who is the catalyst of many misconstrued incidences. Rene Russo plays Anna Herk, mother of Zooey Deschanel (Jenny Herk), unhappily married to Stanley Tucci (Arthur Herk): materialistic criminal whose T.V. is as important as licking Sofia Vergara's toes (the housemaid, Nina). Her love interest is Frito-obsessed; tree living, passive yet deceptively strong, sarcastic yet quiet Jason Lee (Puggy). He, in turn, ignorantly works for a couple of Russians in a run-down bar carrying weaponry and bombs back and forth. This happens to be the same bar in which two bullies with the IQ of a toothpick lead Puggy and Arthur into the great ensemble reminding the viewers what a small world we live in. A scene that reflects most viewers' feelings towards the film are when Nina wakes up from unconsciousness and, in a blurry daze, her eyes focus on the ever so peaceful looking Puggy. Beginning with a soft sigh, followed by familiarity and confusion, she utters: Jesus?

Summary: one of the worst movies I've ever seen
Review: This is one poor excuse for a comedy. There were very few jokes I laughed at. I wasn't put off by the slight terrorism theme, but other material, like shooting the guy in the foot in the name of a federal executive order, just don't deserve laughter. The acting was decent, but the story is slow, predictable, and just not funny. If you find yourself easily amused by this movie, then you should get yourself cattlebranded with "Property of Hollywood."

Review: "Big Trouble" was a big let down. I expected a really funny movie. But this movie was just down right stupid. ...This movie was short (85 mintues) but that was good because I could not take it any more. The acting was not that good. I wonder why Jason Lee took that role. Becuase he is allways funny in movies and in this movie his chactor was not funny buy I don't blame him I mean it's not his falut because the script was written every badly. Tim Allen, I hate to say it but he is washed up. Now of his live-action movies have I liked. Renne Russo has had two straight duds (the other "Showtime). Omara Eeps who is a good actor, he can't do comedy. Johnny Knockville was not funny like on "Jackass". Hevy D go back to the rap game. Tom Sisemore ...[was no good] The stroy line and plot were okay. This movie could have been funny with the cast but the script and directing were so bad it did not work. This movie is just a let down and I do not recomend it any one....

Summary: Hilarious!
Review: Barry Sonnenfeld (The Addams Family movies, Men In Black, Get Shorty) brings his flair for large-scale comedy to this adaptation of Dave Barry's novel about a group of Floridians caught up with Hit-Men, Arms-Smugglers, and a stolen Nuke. The cast is uniformly excellent, especially Stanley Tucci as a ..."Kingpin", and Tom Sizemore and Johnny Knoxville as the lowlifes who don't know what they've stolen. The funniest bit involves an outrageous hallucination that the toad-juice squirted Tucci has. The movie is worth the price of admission just for that one gag, but Big Trouble delivers Big Laughs all around.

Summary: Funniest thing in a long time...
Review: I was already a huge fan of Dave Barry and his book Big Trouble, and then when I heard there would be a movie I went crazy. At first I thought maybe it wouldn't live up to the book's standards, but then I saw it last night (opening night) and it was soooo good! This movie has something for everyone, goats, hallucinogenic toads, Martha Stewart, Gators fans, and so much more! Most of the theatre was actually laughing so hard we couldn't breathe.
This film is definetely a partner film. What I mean by that is, that all the many characters are always paired up with someone else, and it is the LACK of chemistry that makes it so hilarious. You keep thinking, these people should never be together, so of course chaos ensues.
The movie's story is partially told through narration by advertising executive Elliot Arnold, played expertely by Tim Allen. Some things were changed from the book, but they were minor and pulled off very well. The whole cast does an excellent job and you get the feeling this is very much an ensemble film.
One thing I would suggest is reading the book if you have not. The plot (or what there is of one!) is a bit confusing, and the book is just as funny if not funnier than the movie, and I think anyone could find it funny.

Review: I saw this film this week and it is easily the best comedy I have seen in a long time... this movie was a real treat. Nothing but laughs, laughs, laughs! The entire audience was in a state of unrestrained glee and laughed hysterically when I saw this movie (which was drected by the guy who did "Get Shorty".) The film stars Tim Allen, Rene Russo, Johnny Knoxville, Patrick Warburton, the guy from the Tick, Conan O"Brien's sidekick Andy Richter and Jennane Garafolo.

Review: In case anyone hasn't heard, this movie is going to be delayed indefinitely. Anyone who's read the book (which, by the way, is HILARIOUS) will know why - the plotline involves moving a small nuke through the chaotic airport security of Miami International Airport.... I'm sure, if it's ever released, it will be funny, but now is not the right time to see it...

Review: I read this book a while ago and I'm thrilled to know that they are making a movie of it! There are a lot of characters to follow, however, which may be a problem for some people. It is very funny though. I hope it does well!
