Summary: Go see it...
Review: No, I didn't laugh till I blew a gasket when I saw this movie. I actually had an even better experience (if possible) than that. I saw a movie that held my interest and brought me into a families home for some moussaka and hospitality, and yes a supper sized helping of LOVE complete with a funnel to shovel it in.......thats not a criticism.

Fun, entertaining, great performances, such a welcome experience. You think Hollywood will catch the hint after the success of this film? Nope....stale copies may be made. None as fresh, and real. If we (the USA) could ever use some family hugs and support now is the time....

Summary: My New Favorite Movie!
Review: This was just such a good time; well worth the insane price of movie tickets these days. The acting was great, the lines were perfectly delivered and so witty, and the storyline was very touching. I'm recommending this to everyone I see! It was such a uplifting, inspiring movie.

Summary: Hilarious!
Review: I'll make this short & sweet: My Big Fat Greek Wedding is a laugh riot, and coming from a large Italian family, very realistic! Writer Nia Vardalos stars as a love-starved greek-American girl who meets the man of her dreams (John Corbett)....But he's not Greek, so how to reconcile her plans for the future with her Parent's plans for her?

The cast is great, especially the Windex-spraying Dad, and the Movie is a winner from start to finish. Highly recommended!

Summary: Fun, Fun, Fun
Review: This is a hilarious, heart warming, people loving, 'must see' movie! I laughed till I cried from laughter. That's a good enough review right there! Run-- don't walk-- to make sure you see it! You owe yourself this much fun! Enjoy!

Summary: A Big Fat Funny Movie
Review: I love my local drive in theater. (Yes, we still have one!!) I mean, where else are you going to get an oddball double bill like "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" and "XXX"? You gotta love that! Well, actually, I didn't quite love "XXX"--just not my cup of tea, although it may be, as they say, "good of kind." "Greek Wedding," however, was another story, a real charmer through and through--an ugly duckling story in which the swan never totally abandons her duckling roots. (Bad metaphor, but you know what I mean).

There really isn't much that is startlingly new in this heartwarmer. Culture clash has always been a standard comedic ploy for as long as this nation has been a melting pot, and mixed marriages have been making for mixed up comedies since well before "I Love Lucy." But a proven formula doesn't necessarily guarantee success. Without sharp writing, good comic acting, and expert direction things can still go terribly awry. Luckily for us, "Greek Wedding" is pretty much three for three on all those counts.

Based on a one-woman live show written and performed by comic actress Nia Vardalos and brought to the big screen with the help of Hollywood power couple, Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, "Greek Wedding" retains much of its non-splashy modest roots but is also very successfully "opened up". Vardalos is a wonderful actress, but she and director Joel Zwick have also a assembled a colorful cast of well-known and not so well-known actors who flesh out what must have been somewhat sketchier portraits in the theater piece.

It's always heartening to see good actors get a chance to do good work. When was the last time you even saw Michael Constantine or Lainie Kazan in ANYTHING, let alone anything GOOD!? Another reviewer below wondered why John Corbett isn't a bigger star. I can't say whether he'd be a great regular leading man or not. He's always had something of a Jeff Bridges quality, to be sure, but it's a quirky kind of Jeff Bridges-ness. He's just about perfect here though. Here's hoping that he and the rest of this ensemble cast find more such quality projects--and if Nia Vardalos pens them, well, you can pretty much rest assured it'll be quality stuff.

Summary: Wonderful fun for an entertaining evening
Review: This movie will likely be the sleeper hit of the summer and look for a screenwriting not for Vardolas come Golden Globe and Oscar Time. Kudos to Rita Wilson and Tom Hanks for bringing this movie to the big screen for us all to enjoy!

Summary: My Big Fat Greek Wedding - the funniest movie of the summer!
Review: This movie is just terrific from beginning to end, not just for Greeks, but for many other cultures who can relate to the events. From Latin Americans to Italians to Jewish viewers, everyone will laugh and enjoy this great comedy. The cast was absolutely perfect. I have seen it twice and plan plan to see it again, each time bringing a new friend or family member. I also plan to buy the video the minute it hits the stores!

Summary: "Greek Wedding a Winner"
Review: This film is a rare comedy event. What makes it special is the authenticity of the characters, the tasteful manner in which cultural diversity is dealt with. Finally, this is a film in which the female lead has her own form of style and beauty--not an aspiring Britany Spears type. It is a pleasure to see a film about ordinary people in a celebration of ordinary life events. All of the characters for that matter are played by talented actors who play their roles well.

Summary: EVEN THE GODS OF OLYMPUS WOULD LAUGH
Review: I have seen movies over the years that state: "The funniest movie in years" or "You'll laugh so hard..." But this little sleeper had me in laughing all the way through. Trust me when I tell you: "IT IS THE FUNNIEST MOVIE IN YEARS." Almost everyone can relate to a having a weird family; and you do not have to be Greek.
Nia Vardalos was devine as Toula; the 30 year old Greek frumpy girl who has no life and lives for her family's business. John Corbett was charming and handsome as Ian Miller, a well educated professor who lives a good life. The two meet in her parents' restaurant but not knowing who each other are. She is totally in love with him. She starts to change her whole outlook by going to school and changing her physical appearance.
Toula has a very strict family code. A Greek girl must marry a Greek man to make Greek babies. Unfortunately Ian is not Greek. Regardless, she manages to fall in love with him.
Lainie Kazan is grand as the "dame" of the house. As she put it: "The man is the head and the woman is the neck; and the woman can turn the head any way she wants to."
Just prior to the wedding, you will find yourself laughing. During Ian's "baptism" into the Greek religion, you will realize how much people are willing to do for love.
Joey Fatone's part was minimal but he was good. I thought he was Italian.
The movie can be viewed as "anyone's family". Everyone thinks their family is weird.
I would love to see this film again. I laughed so much and it was worth the money.
Go out and see this.

Summary: Slightly Stereotypical Satire With An Unexpected True Heart
Review: Having seen the preview ads, which focused mainly on Toula's boisterously loving but meddlesome family, I wasn't expecting a lot here. But Nia Vardalos is a talented actress and writer, who
gave Toula a depth and reality that was vulnerable and heroic. I think what worked here is that we have all either been or known a
Toula. We have all wished for an Ian to inspire us out of our everyday lives. Their relationship seemed genuinely caring, and I
liked that the focus was mainly about respecting and valuing each
other, not just sex. John Corbett and Nia Vandalos had real chem-
istry, not Hollywood chemistry!!!

Mr Constantine, Ms Kazan and the rest of the supporting cast did very good, but not excellent work here. The sole false note in the film was the over the top behavior of Toula's family, which was wildly exaggerated for satire's sake. I have known several Greek families, and while they have their loud moments, they also
have a lot more respect and trust in each other than the film implied. Most are extremely kind to outsiders and not as clique-
ish as the Portokolis' seemed to be. Also, the papous(grandfa-
thers)and yayas(grandmothers) are much more highly valued than the treatment of Gus'mother would let you believe.

This film was very well written and acted, very funny without being raunchy. I would see it again; have asked Amazon for DVD
release info, and would urge bored with Hollywood standard fare
moviegoers to seek out this small, independent gem. Appreciate
Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson's help in finding this and getting it
produced. Overall rating: 4 and 1/2 stars.
