Rating: Summary: Best ever Review: This is one of the best movies I have ever seen. Even if you are not Greek you can totally relate to this movie. If you are in a bad mood, this is a sure cure. You will laugh until your sides hurt!!
Rating: Summary: Not Just A Date Movie Review: If you are guy who has had a girlfriend at anytime since April, you probably were dragged to see this movie. In which case you liked it,......but you didn't want to tell her. I was one of those guys and of course i like the movie. It is about culture, the Greek culture of course. It succeeds where many big budget love stories fail. It has a solid plot and it really has an fresh idea. Of course we have seen these types of love stories before, but this one catches and makes you care about the lives of these people involved. Oh and did i mention the fact that it is really FUNNY. I will not ruin it for those who have not seen the movie, but it is for everyone who likes a good laugh and who just wants to walk a way from a movie with a good feeling afterwards. Maybe thats the appeal of this movie, we just all need to feel good right now. This movie is a treat to all. I recommend the movie for movie fans of all genres. Plus this movie is going to be somewhat of a success story for 2002, on a cost of $5 million this movie has made $195 million, thus far. Word of mouth is the best advertizement.

Rating: Summary: A Feel Good All Over Movie Review: This movie is a sleeper. I went along with the crowd to a movie one evening just for something to do. To my surprise and delight, this movie was fantastic. My Big Fat Greek Wedding is unique and so very funny. You smile in the first and last scene of the movie. You belly-laugh in-between. I'm buying this movie for my collection a soon as it is available. Don't miss the fun!!
Rating: Summary: Required Viewing for Almost Newly Weds Review: I didn't see the movie until November. Truly one of those movies that has grown in popularity over time. As the pastor of a church, I think it could be required viewing by all couples thinking about marriage and especially for all those planning a wedding. There is a tremendous amount of real life in the movie that would be hard to share in word alone.
Rating: Summary: the best greek wedding Review: While sitting in the theatre i watched the people around me as i was laughing so loud. I noticed they were laughing as well and you couldn't help it. I think Nia Varadalos did the movie justice she was very down to earth and then appeared like a butterfly so beautiful yet so gentle in her character. I highly recommend you see this movie and if you are over 40 I encourage it as it is good clean humor. This is what humor was all about years ago.
Rating: Summary: Boring and banal soap Review: There isn't any original idea in this film, it is too boring for a comedy and too predictable for any other genre. It is amazing that films like this are produced - couldn't they do anything more challenging or at least entertaining for the mind for the money they spent on making the film? It doesn't even have a soothing effect of a good laugh becuase it irritaes after 10 min with its pathetic stereotypes and clichés. And at the end, the happy end , of course. I felt that Forrest Gump was the director, and indeed it is Tom Hanks's film. Bravo to the extreme banality!
Rating: Summary: Boring and Unfunny Load of [stuff] Review: Hype,Hype,Hype! Without the name-cache of Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson and the lazy tastes of many women in this wonderful country overblown stereotypical impersonations of Greek-Americans though, I have to give it that. What an accomplishment! What it isn't is at all humorous. Everytime the smart lady I saw this movie with looked at me with her eyebrows raised (without even a smile on her face -and she is a very funny person who loves to laugh)
Rating: Summary: A funny movie even for little skinny Turkish singles... Review: What I loved about "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" was that not only did I laugh out loud at this film more than any other I have seen this year, but that I was not alone (yes, it often happens that I am the only one laughing at things in movies when I go out in public which explains why I cloister myself writing review at home). Even though this film throws together a whole bunch of standard plotlines it fails to resort to many of the standard scenes. There was a point where the future groom (John Corbett) wants to take the future bride (Nia Vardalos) to Dancing Zorba's for Greek food since, as the movie makes us very much away, she is Greek. Instead of setting up some stupid scene where he does not know her family owns the restaurant, she comes out and tells him. So this is not a stupid movie and in that same scene we see some of the heart as well. There is something to be said for a film where two people look like they are in love. The actual titular wedding is something of an anti-climax, mainly because the wedding is a sacred event in the lives of everybody involved and that is something the movie respects. So watching "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" is probably just like going to one: you laugh, you cry, and you really have a good time. My main advice is to go see this movie in the theater instead of waiting for it to come out on video/DVD simply because it is so much fun to be in an audience laughing this much at a film. What more do you need to know about this one than that?
Rating: Summary: They don't make films like this often enough! Review: This was a very funny film! It is a film that all adults could enjoy--men and women. The humor isn't sophomoric. It's very true to life and genuine. It's based on teh lead actress's experience. She wrote the script! The acting is superb and the chemistry between all the characters was very good. Lainie Kazan was enjoyable as the Greek mother. I recommend this film to anyone. As you can tell from the box office gross, everyone else has, too. Why don't you jump on the band wagon?!
