Summary: My Big Fat Stupid Movie
Review: This movie is neither funny nor clever. This movie takes itself too seriously. It recycles the same stale old jokes could be written about any ethnic group to the same effect. The characters are basic but exaggerated to the point of being to grotesque and unbelievable. The plot line has been done so many times that you can recite it in your sleep. There is nothing new here. If you want to see a clever, edgy movie that is actually funny, see Barbershop.

Summary: Smothering.
Review: My girlfriend and I could not understand the rampant success of this film. It was okay. Everyone else who saw this film thought it was great. I've seen thousands and thousands of films and this one just struck me as okay. I was not drawn to the characters, however real they may have seemed. There was too much family for me, and I felt oppressed by Toula's family. She may have been more down to earth than most Hollywood concoctions, and the story may have been more believable than most Hollywood concoctions, but there was something missing from this film. Perhaps it was the indepent film feel of this movie. It didn't seem polished on the edges. If this had been the third or fourth film from this director I might have felt more satisfied. I am also biased against comedies. Comedies, like My Big Fat Greek Wedding, fail on many levels to stand the test of time. Movies, like art, are a matter of taste and opinion, mine consists of When Harry Met Sally or High Fidelity or About A Boy over this film. Heck, I'd even throw Groundhog Day in as a clever romantic comedy. I truly hope that this film does not win any Academy Awards because there were far better films in the past year that deserve the honor.

Review: not as polished (technically, as well as artistically) as some of the romantic comedies of the past. Could have been REALLY good had it not fallen to the tried and true, hollywood formula. Predictable.

Review: I went to see this with a few girlfriends of mine and we ended up being the YOUNGEST in the theater. This movie appeals to most ages and is the funniest movie I've seen in a long time. I would recommend it to anyone old enough to watch it!

Review: Nia Vardalos has a lot of talent. Anyone who can both write and star in a movie deserves some credit. This movie is a sweet love story and I would definately reccomend it! I've seen it several times and I will never get tired of the story. It is very sweet and I think it is a great movie to watch with the family.

Review: my big fat greek wedding is one of my FAVORITE MOVIES ever. it is soooo great! with the funny habits of tulu's family to the run away turkish grandmother, laughs are guarenteed in this movie. the romantic aspect of the story is cute as can be and will fill ur heart with warmth. this movie is 5 stars and u should DEFINETLY WATCH IT AS SOON AS YOU CAN!!...

Summary: Funniest movie i have ever seen.
Review: Nia Vardalos is winning and charming in this parody of her big fat greek life. Nia plays Toula, an overweight, unhappy Greek woman who still lives with her parents. She works at the family restaurant and is harldy noticed. She meets Ian and realizes that as long as she is a frumpy waitress, she will never escape her dreary life. She incorporates the help of her mother and her aunt, to get her a job in her aunts travel agancy instead of the restaurant. It works and Toula is on the way to freedom. She begins to dress with flair and gets her hair done. The next time she meets Ian is a hit. They get along smashingly and enjoy each others company so much that they begin dating. She knows that she can never marry him because he isnt Greek but she continues to see him. When the family finds out, the stuff hits the fan. The two make plans to marry and the family gets crazy. This film is a lot of fun from beginning to end. It is the smash hit comedy that no one expected. A must see for any comic lover. Nia will be a superstar yet.

Review: This movie snuck in under the radar, and now its success is working against it. Suddenly it's under attack for being formulaic, for being a sitcom, for offering nothing new.Guilty, guilty and guilty. But that's exactly why people took to it to begin with. Sure, the story is simple. No, there's no doubt that the boy and girl will live happily ever after (it's called "My Big Fat Greek WEDDING" after all, not "My Big Fat Greek Courtship.") Is it a sitcom? Yes, in the sense that it's a Situation Comedy. The comedy comes from situations (and characters), not from plot. What really makes the movie work is the performances. The characters are all people you're happy to spend time with, and you want things to work out for them. This goes not just for Ian and Toula, but for her parents and everyone else. The whole movie is like a wedding, at which you celebrate with old friends, meet some new ones, and leave feeling a little giddy. Anyone whose family is a little crazy - and that's everyone - will find something to relate to in this movie. Don't look for anything deep, just sit back and enjoy the ride.
