Rating: Summary: Very Funny if it is your sense of humor Review: I was one of the few people to see this in the theater. The cinema was packed with everyone from teenagers to senior citizens (I'm 28) and at the end the film actually got a standing ovation. EVERYONE was laughing their butts off at this film. I suspect only those who really liked the trailer went to see it and this accounts for the ovation, but if this is your sense of humor you can't do much better. The movie wasn't perfect and a few jokes fell flat, but it was still hilarious. I thought Scary Movie sucked and I loved American Pie, but it wasn't really much like either.
Rating: Summary: The Value of Freindship Review: Steve Zahn and Jack Black deliver big laughs in the comedy Saving Silverman. The lives of Neil Diamond-worshiping best freinds J.D. (Jack Black), Darren (Jason Biggs) and Wayne (Steve Zahn)quickly change when Darren falls for cold-hearted Judith (Amanda Peet). Now, in order to save their freind, Wayne and J.D. kidnap Judith and try to reunite Darren with his high school sweetheart (Amanda Detmer). "Saving Silverman" is an outrageously funny romp but the story lacks strength. There are plenty of amazing funny scenes and some crazy characters. Steve Zahn and Jack Black are a great comic duo and R. Lee Ermey is hilarious as the boys' insane high school football coach and mentor. The film is presented in its 1.85:1 widescreen and fullscreen formats. The DVD contains a pleasant video transfer and a clear 5.1 Dolby Digital sound with fine surround effects. The DVD features director commentary, trailers, outtakes and added footage. Overall, "Saving Silverman" earns a "C+".
Rating: Summary: Oh my god........does this movie ever stop sucking? Review: Well, no. This is one of the WORST movies known to mankind (with "Billy Madison" taking the cake of the worst movie ever made). The humor isn't even in the funny category like "Dude, Where's My Car?" and "Scary Movie". It's stupid, sucky, and terribly lame.Bottom line: Run for your life if you see this in the store. What about me? Next time I need to take a piss, I'll know just what to discharge my load upon........
Rating: Summary: PEET BLACK DIAMOND Review: One of the worst reviwed films of the year (before PEARL HARBOR) SAVING SILVERMAN is not as bad as reported, but no where near as funny as it could have, and should have been. An excellent cast, and a soild cameo by Neil Diamond, make this R rated version of the film a shade better than bottom barrel, but not enough to actually make it funny for more than a few moments at a time. One solid high point is Jack Black - who I'm surprised has yet to be tapped for a solo project - who lights up the production every moment he is on the screen. Extras are light - a few deleted scenes, plus a trailer and the now standard Director's Commentary, which often can save a disc - but Dennis Dugan does little to help himself or the picture - he is in LOVE with this movie. There is not a moment in his mind where the action or comdey dips, nary a second when there isn't an Oscar calibur performance. He is a happy director who feels he has created a fun, entertaining, exciting and original classic that is made all the more fantastic by having Neil Diamond in it... no, sorry, no. But I have to give him credit for being a fan, because while few will call SAVING SILVERMAN their own, at least one person will always have a place in his home for it. If you liked the PG-13 version, then this R rated version will not disappoint. If you're new to SAVING SILVERMAN, I recommend it only for Jack Black, but for little else.
Rating: Summary: Funny and Entertaining Review: I think that maybe the people that don't get this movie never had a girlfriend like "Judith" a total control freak. They've obviously never had a girlfriend that all thier friends hated and wanted them to break up. I had no clue about this movie, but rented it on a whim and ended up buying it. If your more into a somewhat South Park type of humor definetly get the R rated version, otherwise stick with the PG-13 version, there's not much difference. I have to say i really liked Amanda Detmer in this she's beautiful and i liked her character as well. I would have chosen her over Amanda Peet ANYDAY... Steve Zahn is hilarious in this and Jack Black is really good in this too. Rent this and don't listen to this critics, if you like BUY IT !
Rating: Summary: I Laughed So Hard I Broke My Rib! Review: Maybe I don't know what I'm speaking about, but this was fabulous! My familty has a problem. We have movie marathons with my daughter Friday nights and Romantic Comedys or Comedys are normally the fare. This was a treat. There are memorable scene's a minute. We rate it up there with other special movies such as Junior, Caddyshack, Loser, Home Alone, and many others. Don't hurt your self when you watch this movie!
Rating: Summary: I DID NOT get this movie.... Review: I really didn't get this movie. It seemed contrived and forced from beginning to end. Why are so many movies trying to be "Something About Mary"? This one was the worst in that long line of copy cats with contrived characters, bad acting and NO PLOT. Wait until this comes out on HBO, not worth a rental fee.
Rating: Summary: Excellent F-Critics Review: This movie is hilarious, dont listen to the critics..If you enjoyed movies like National Lampoons Vacation,Xmas Vacation,Road Trip, you'll love this
Rating: Summary: How Can they Make somthing like this Review: ONE OF THE WORST MOVIES EVER.....what a waste of 2 hours of my life.....What is thier sick obssesion with Neil Diamond.....Can I say the Jokes are stupid not even the funny stupid that makes you laugh the stupid that makes you cry
Rating: Summary: Hideously Awful Review: This was just an awful movie. The fault COMPLETELY lies with the writers, the script made use of well-tread sitcom devices (receiving "coaching" during a date using a body mike and earpiece) and "humor" that, at best, could be compared to the jokes and banter that is written for award shows. Jack Black (High Fidelity) is usually a funny actor but he is handicapped by some of the worst dialogue material in his career. The movie's lone shining moment was the performance of Amanda Peet...her facial expressions and icy dialogue were perfect for her role. It is not often that I will turn a movie off halfway through, but the aforementioned "date coaching" was too much. Don't waste your time, and pray that the actors involved will not suffer too much for this travesty.
