Rating: Summary: Almost Perfect to Form! Car Biz Laugh your butt off!!!! Review: I am a third generation in the car business. All true! Buy couple dozen copies. I did. It is amazing how true to form this movie is. I'd recommend this and "Cars and People, pissing at 60 miles an hour (book by Anthony Ziegler)to everyone in the car business.
Rating: Summary: Too much cussing, but very accurate portrayal of car dealers Review: I have been a car salesman at a One-Price dealer for 11 years, and this DVD is very funny. The accuracy is pretty spot on for big cities in the old days of car selling. We all got a big kick out of some of the ridiculous stuff on here, as most of it is over the top, but some is very true.
There is an overuse of the F word, and a ridiculous ending, but overall a fun film for car guys. Some of the events are things that I have actually seen before except maybe being left out in the street with no pants after a test drive and subsequent sexual interlude with a beautiful woman...I wish...
Rating: Summary: Unfortunatley; a very realistic window into car sales. Review: I have been in automobile sales for 15 years in Atlanta and this movie hits it right on the head. The sales meetings, the banter, etc. all are exactly correct, right up to the sayings and cliches. The movie got out of hand at the end with the shootings but up to that point was 100% realistic. This flick is a true window into the psyche of car salesmen. The ruthlessness, the attitude, the quick comebacks and the anything goes for your commission mindset is all accurate. This movie obviously had a lot of input from someone who had been there and done that. It also shows, if you watch closely, just why it is that car salespeople are masters at character study, recognizing impulse buying and why we are some of the greatest entepreneurs in the world!!!
Rating: Summary: I pretty agree w/ James D Fett Review: I think he managed to successfully summarize it...pretty descent flick until it hit it's crushindo...Should have left it like it was. It's almost as if they were trying to do a more exteme/exaggrated version of Glengarry Glenross...
Rating: Summary: Reality of the business..... Review: I too am in Atlanta and have been in the car business for the last 7 years. Damn I love this movie.....!!! When I first saw it I thought I had gone back to work..!!!! Unfortunately it is true...and all the things that happened in the movie are true to form for the business. I wish I could say it wasn't but it is. I think by looking at this I also see how the outside world looks at us.....and i truly feel by watching this that we bring it on ourselves...!!! Happy watching.....
Rating: Summary: Laugh or be Horrified Review: If you are or have been in the car business this movie will make you laugh and motivate you - everyone else that is not in the above 2 catagories will be horrified and never ever want to set foot on a car lot again much less purchase from a car dealer. This movie depicts the way the car business used to be - ( I know I am in the car business for 6 years now) The car business has been totally transformed in the last 15 years - this move is fantastic and it is hard to belive that this was a low budget film because it is 100% quality...
Rating: Summary: THE LITTLE MOVIE THAT COULD Review: It's not very often we come across an underground independent film that is actually entertaining or even holds our interest. Usually these types of films are either too artsy or so low budget they're painful to watch. SUCKERS not only held my interest but had my whole family in stitches laughing! It's about three losers in the seedier side of Los Angeles looking to make a buck any way they can. But they're all so stupid in their own ways they end up getting themselves in trouble with local thugs (who I think have the funniest scenes in the movie). When I found out SUCKERS was made with almost no budget my jaw hit the floor. It turns out SUCKERS was made by a group of totally inexperienced friends from East LA who had a dream about making a movie. So in the summer of '97, after taking some basic film classes at a community college and using only the first draft of their script, they recruited anyone they knew willing to help out for free and shot SUCKERS in 15 days. With the exception of Danny De La Paz (latino film icon), all the actors and crew were first timers with zero experience. In fact, the crew and actors were the same people! (They talk about it in the DVD special features). So five years later SUCKERS finally gets released. I highly recommend this movie not only because it's hilarious, but because the underdog behind-the-scenes story is so inspiring.
Rating: Summary: Movie Miracle Must-Have! Review: Made for a miniscule $11,000, "Suckers" proves that dedication, creativity, and talent can turn a first-time film effort into a darling little movie. The Sativa Brothers ambitiously enter the urban latino comedy genre, untouched since "Born In East L.A." (1987), with a lovable crossover movie that ranks in the low budget arena with "Clerks" and "El Mariachi." "Suckers" is a must-have for any aspiring filmmaker and guarantees laughs to viewers who don't go to church on Sundays.
Rating: Summary: It will make you laugh out loud.....if you are in car sales Review: Sorry guys I cant give it 5 stars because only a hand full of movies (ie:The Godfather,Deer hunter) get that rating with that said I give this flick 4 stars for anyone in the business, It will make you laugh your butt off. I myself have been in the car business for over 20+ years and have seen all these characters in real life including myself as the sales manager (OH NO!!)I play this movie at our sales meeting from time to time to lighten up the day. It is the most dark side of the business, I'd like to think we dont pull this stuff on a daily basis but it does happen like it or not. I have to say I cant reccomend this movie to anyone outside the SALES business it most likely wouldnt be so funny if you cant relate. The end of the movie was a little out of wack but if you didnt have some way of ending it I guess it could go on forever. allthough I have seen some parts of the ending in the business no deaths that I recall......at least not from shooting.
Rating: Summary: Reservoir Dogs Selling Cars Review: The mysteries of used car salesmen and what their lives are really like are revealed in this black comedy. A racist car salesman inspires his multi-cultural staff on the tricks-of-the-trade when selling cars. We are exposed to the dark side of these sleazy salesman in this movie which has an incredible ending. A must see and a future cult classic!
