Summary: a skillful blend of rap music satire and political comment
Review: Fear of A Black Hat is one of the freshest satires of its time. It hits on various themes in the African American rap world. It points out why Vanilla Ice (Vanilla Sherbet) and Hammer (alias Stammer) could not be accepted by other black rappers. But it also aims its satirical guns at the entire rap culture by showing the viewer why many rap artists' lyrics and their actions do not always jive. For example, the video of a "gansta's life is no fun," shows the NWH members having the time of their lives in a world they say is negative. Very clever satire which tested the NWH actors to their fullest. Don't wait another moment. Watch it today.

Review: This is one of the funniest movies I think I've seen. It's just jam packed with hilarious moments. If you watched any MTV in the early 90's, I think you'll be able to appreciate this. The song parodies, videos, and just the band and their misadventures in general are wickedly funny and just plain goofy. This is a more overt, slapstick movie than This is Spinal Tap. As for me, I preffer it. If you can deal with all the crudeness that's in it, then I highly reccomend this movie.

Review: I couldn't even finish this movie. Had they not ripped off bits from This Is Spinal Tap about 7 times half way through, I might not have turned it off. I am a fan of the "mockumentary" as much as the next guy but this is just bad. Don't waste your time.

Summary: GREAT SCOTT!
Review: FEAR is a wonderfully done 'spoof' of the RAP MUSIC scene as we've come to know it. The rappers are cleverly renamed with'silly titles' & the lyrics in the individually presented videos don't make a whole lotta sense but then do they now! It was an absolute joy to find my MAIN MAN Larry B.Scott casts in the Afro-American role. Seems every rap group has a well-built Black male fronting the stage nightly. And GOD KNOWS Scott more than qualifies with his magnificently cut bod. His featured video is titled Granny's Gonna Kick Your ___ & in it he portrays a 'beautifully buffed' young boxer who keeps rantin' & ravin' while his grandmother rccks back & forth in an old fashioned rocker. By the way she's knitting up a storm. Larry never seems to disappoint his viewers in all his flicks. He has all the body moves down pat here as he 'struts shirtless' center stage turning & twisting all his gorgeous muscles to maximum delight. The other rappers are nothing special tho a few of the other 'inside the flick' videos have some catchy lyrics. Supplemental material is also neat in that the rappers go one on one with a female interviewer who's also well endowed. The trailer is here as well. BOTTOM LINE: If you happen to be into Black cats who've sculpted the perfect body & wanna sho it off as much as humanly possible to the general public, then FEAR with L.B.Scott is your 'meal ticket.' And the best part is you can overwork the ZOOM on your player to scrutinize all that GOD-GIVEN definition he's been blessed with. ENJOY!

Summary: A cult classic
Review: This movie is the "Spinal Tap" for the hip hop set. This movie is very dated, but very hilarious, the jokes never get old. I have seen this movie hundreds of time and am glad to see it come to DVD finally. Rusty Cundieff is a talented writer, as well as a great actor, and should be noted as one of the best that black cinema has to offer.

Review: the "jokes" are all telegraphed and almost all of them not funny at all. this is nowhere near as good as the rock group spoof "this is spinal tap." with all the material that can be used to poke fun at rappers it's surprising just how lacking this film is. the only reason i gave it 2 stars instead of 1, is that the rap songs are actually quite good and some are funny like "peanuts." but as good as the videos are they don't make up for the painful experience of watching nearly 2 hours of telegraphed, unfunny jokes.

Review: This movie is a cult classic. The movie on the DVD is great and the commentary is good and the Hosted feature is funny. I wish they had spent a little more time on the audio track and the other special features. Still this is a movie that is a must have in the collection.
