Summary: J-LO #1
Review: I WAS VERY HAPPY THAT I FOUND OUT JENNIFER WAS DOING A COMEDY, NOW IM MORE HAPPY THAT ITS COMING OUT ON DVD SOON.

THE MOVIE IS ABOUT A WELL KNOWN WEDDING PLANNER WHO FALLS IN LOVE WITH A GUY WHO IS ALREADY ENGAGED, IT ACROSS THE LINES OF MY BEST FRIENDS WEDDING, THERE ARE ALOT OF TOUCHING MOMENTS IN THE FILM, AND SOME VERY COMEDIC SCENES. J-LO DID A VERY GOOD JOB CONSIDERING THE FACT THAT THIS IS HER FIRST COMEDY FILM.

A MUST FOR ANY J-LO FAN!

Summary: A Cute Movie with a Cute Actress
Review: This was a cute movie. The movie is basically about the Wedding Planner, Mary(Jennifer Lopez). She makes everybody's dreams come true (those who are getting married, of course), but her friends can never understand why she can't make her own dreams come true. Her response to this is:

Those Who Can't Do, Teach. Those Who Can't Wedd, Plan!.

Now, Mary has the biggest case for a millionare girl, and her fiance (Matthew McConaughey). But, one day when Mary is walking home, her shoe heel gets stuck in a sewer hole, and a dumpster is coming right toward at her. Matt saves her. He is a pediatrition, and takes her to the hospital. They have sort of a romance that night. Then, the next day, Mary, and the couple she is working for go to the same dance class. The rich girl has to take a phone call, and asks Mary to dance with her fiance. When Mary says she will, it turns out that the same pediatrition who she romanced with last night is the rich girl's fiance. This starts comedic battles, and a surprising ending.

Summary: It was cute
Review: Ok, this is not a five star, poignant, touching, brilliant movie which will change your life -- so with a title like "The Wedding Planner," what did you expect? Imagine: Maria (Jennifer Lopez) is a career-focused woman whose job is planning weddings, but her personal life is nonexistent; she's still not over having been jilted 6 years ago. Finally, she meets a man who can relight her romantic fire, but guess what? He's the fiance' of a very important client. If you've ever seen a Hollywood romantic comedy, you can complete the plot from there, up to and including how it all turns out. Still, if your expectations aren't too high, it will kill a couple of hours and give you an excuse to make popcorn.

You do have to be able to accept Jennifer Lopez as a second generation "Italian" (*cough*), and the chemistry between her and McConaughey could have been stronger. Still, it has its funny moments, and admirably avoids using the cheesy device of making the "other partners" unlikeable (so the main characters have an "excuse" to dump them). It's not art, but it should go down smoothly with a glass of wine.

Summary: a charming confection
Review: Delicious dialogue, heartfelt characters, this movie is simple but charming and full of heart. I didn't expect to like it and found myself loving it. It's unexpectedly quirky and fun...

Summary: Romp in a Shallow Pool
Review: The Wedding Planner, along with Sandra Bullock's Miss Congeniality, is as good as mainstream Hollywood gets these days. The situations are pretty much as we expect, the characters whacky but loveable, the resolutions fairly predictable, but the writing and acting, like a good cappuccino, are frothy enough that our enjoyment is guaranteed.

Jennifer Lopez delivers her commedic role quite well--she's not quite in Sandra Bullock's league here, but then I think it is her first comedy, and she's not far behind. The only real willing-suspension-of-disbelief problem audiences might have is that such a gorgeous woman would have difficulties with relationships, and Lopez plays neurotic well enough that she manages to overcome this issue. The casting and role of Matthew McConaughey's character creates similar issues which are not quite so readily resolved--he's literally too good to be true, but he acts what the writers gave him with gallons of charisma.

The Wedding Planner is a pleasant dip in a shallow pool, and as such is highly recommended.

Summary: Sticks to the tried & true romatic comedy formula
Review: This movie was certainly entertaining and Jennifer Lopez was very engaging as a wedding consultant who becomes romantically involved with a client. The problem with the movie is that it sticks to a formula and is too predictable. The movie, "My Best Friend's Wedding," was a departure from the formula when there was a surprise as to who ended up successful in the romantic battle between two suitors. Here, there was the potential for the same sort of twist. Indeed, the table was set for the less predictable outcome to occur. But no!!!! Instead, we see. early on, sexual and emotional tension develop between the two main characters and it is perfectly predictable that after a few plot twists, they will end up getting married.

Jennifer Lopez was good in her role but Matthew McConaughey was a little less believable as a pediatrician who becomes her romantic interest. All in all, the movie was cute, but at one time or another, we have seen all the predictable plot twists, right down to the mad race to break up the wedding of the main charcter's love interest to someone else before it's too late (remember "The Graduate?). I give it four stars only because it is pretty good, mindless entertainment despite the film's utterly formulalisitic plot.

Summary: Ok, so this isn't exactly a thinking movie...
Review: Alright, I'll admit it, this movie doesn't really put your brain to the test, but if you are looking for a good, enjoyable 2 hours, this movie is perfect. Matthew McConaughey and Jennifer Lopez don't have amazing chemistry but the movie somehow works out really well. One of the perks of this movie is the fact that you still like the fiance and the really nice Italian guy. In most romantic comedies, you always hate the other person but in this movie, you still like most of the characters and it is not a hate fest. Overall, this is not an astoundingly amazing movie, but it is still worth seeing at least once or twice.
