Summary: Uplifting Drama
Review: Now and Then is the perfect movie for the girls. No matter what your age, you will have a great time. It is about four friends who meet when they are all grown up, recalling the summer of 1970. Together, they share secrets, get mad at one another, and show their emotions. Take a trip down memory lane with Chrissy,(Ashleigh Aston Moore and Rita Wilson) Roberta,(Christina Ricci and Rosie O'Donnell) Teeney,(Thora Birch and Melanie Griffith) and Samantha,(Gaby Hoffmann and Demi Moore). This movie brings out the spirit in you and definately proves that girls just wanna have fun!-And if you really love the 60's and 70's, and you enjoyed the movie, check out the soundtrack as well.

Summary: Oh, wow. I loved this movie. I watched it over and over....
Review: This movie is just brilliant! It's amazing! It's about four girls who meet up twenty years later and it's just brilliant! Most of it is set in the summer of 1970, and it's great fun to watch. My favourite character was Samantha, played by Gaby Hoffman at 12 and Demi Moore at 32. I liked the other three as well: Teeny (Thora Birch, Melanie Griffith), Chrissy (Ashleigh Aston Moore, Rita Wilson) and Roberta (Christina Ricci, Rosie O' Donnell). All the actors were great and it's a star-studded cast featuring Janeane Garafolo and Brendan Frasier in cameos. There's only one actress making her debut, Ashleigh Aston Moore, and she gives a stunning performance as 12-year-old Chrissy. You will do anything to get your hands on this video!!!

Summary: "Early days of Christina Ricci & Thora Birch"
Review: "Now and Then" is a very great depiction of growing up..
And it features the early days of 2 of now our greatest and most sexiest actresses Thora Birch (here she is a blonde) and my favorite Christina Ricci..They shine as does the other 2 girls in this more then wonderful movie..The movie features a fantastic 1970s Classic Rock soundtrack..It covers all areas of what 70s Classic Rock was..Pick up the cd soundtrack while you are at it along with this dvd..The only downside on this dvd is there is SADLY No Behind The Scenes..I wish they would have behind the scenes and bloopers of this movie would have been great..
And even better would be a reunion of the cast..Coz i am wondering what ever became of the other 2 actresses in this movie with Ricci & Birch..And this too i think they could have casted the "older" versions of the girls better then they did..Rosie O Donnell as the older Christina Ricci in Rosie's dreams..The only one of the "older" versions that is really believable that can really picture is Melanie Griffith as the "older" Thora Birth..But they are not in this movie long thankfully..They are only in start and end with maybe a total time of 5 minutes or a tad more..Not enough to ruin this great movie..The movie focuses thankfully more on Ricci / Birch and the girls..Other then what i just mentioned this is one of the greatest films you will ever see..And if you had been between ages 5 and teen years in the 1970s it will bring back loads of memories..Everything from the opening scene of the girls playing "red rover red rover let (put your name here) come over" to the music to the looks and just things did as a kid and teen in those days..It is reinacted sooooo well that you can't even tell this is a 1995 movie..The sets the feeling is total 70s..It is recreated magnificentally..I am 38 this year *2004* and it brought back many memories for me..Christina Ricci here reminds me sooooo much of My Beloved Mandy when we first met right down to a priceless basketball scene..So this movie has sentimental value to me..Watch this movie maybe it will touch you in that way too..But either way i can guarentee that it will bring back memories..It will be a fun filled viewing exsperiance..A kind of a early teen girl version of Stand By Me..Enjoyable Fun and Wonderful filmed movie adds up fun for all no matter when your generation is.NOT TO BE MISSED
Gets better with every single time you watch it..A must for any fan of the one and only Christina Ricci..If you are a fan of Christina Ricci and you don't have this movie get this movie to prove you are her fan..Christina Ricci Rules......

Summary: A good coming of age movie
Review: Four friends recall their life when they were best friends and they were growing up together and experiencing both great times and bad times. The four young friends (Christina Ricci, Thora Birch, Gaby Hoffmann, Ashleigh Aston Moore) had great adventures together such as teaming up to try and find out the mystery of how a 12-year-old boy died and playing various pranks on each other. That was then. Now they're all grown up and all four (Melanie Griffith, Demi Moore, Rosie O'Donnell, Rita Wilson) of them get together and relive the past and tell about how they're doing now, years later. One thing still holds true. All four of them made a pact to always stick together and to be there for each other when ever they needed it.

"Now and Then" is a good coming of age movie. It reminded me a lot of "Stand By Me," which is one of my favorite movies of all time. "Now and Then" isn't as good as "Stand By Me," but it's still a good movie in its own right. It has its charming and funny moments, and it's serious and depressing at other times. I recommend "Now and Then" to anybody who likes good coming of age movies. It might even remind you of some of your childhood, such as playing Red Rover. Every now and then, most of us like reminiscing about the good times we had growing up such as being able to play games and have a good time without worrying about working or whether or not we're making enough money, I know I do. And "Now and Then" will bring up a lot of great memories for that reason.

Summary: A much beter "Then" part
Review: The charm of this movie comes mostly from the "Then" part. It is the charm of the four young actresses (Christina Ricci acting as the young Roberta is my personal favorite but all four are great) that is able to give this movie a candid fresh feeling in spite of the somewhat corny cliched story which you feel you have already seen. Was it "stand by me" which had four friends, each with a different character type? No, that was about boys... Here as well we have a mystery as the girls are trying to solve the death of a young boy, and the outcome can be anticipated. The adult part - although equipped with a group of well-known actresses was not able to convince me (it is surprising to note that the casting of Rosie Odonnol as the adult Christina Ricci is very believable although funny at first sight). How is it that in the movies all the young people portrayed grow up to be really outstanding writers, actresses, doctors, etc.? What happened to all the ordinary people we all grew up to be? The adult part is a little too short and not too satisfying. I would have been interested to know what happened to these 4 women since that one summer we had a chance of seeing. The movie makes it seem as if their lives - or rather their friendship was somewhat stopped at the age of 12 and then continued at the adult stage. What happened since the age of 12? I mean, they did live next to each other...are there no memories from later, maybe more important stages of life? Were there no old grudges or new friends that interfered? Did they not prefer to have one intimate friend rather then a group?
I think that the movie could have been "full" with only the young, "then" part, however nice to watch as it is. I found the movie's special moments to be in the sincere intimate moments were only two of the four friends are seen conversing about more serious issues.

Summary: It's a Pretty Good Movie!
Review: My sister rented the Now and Then video and I think it was a cute movie and had some interesting dialogue and some good acting. The movie is mostly set in 1970 and deals with the lives and friendships of a group of 12 year old girls and I think all of the young actors were very good but I especially liked Christina Ricci and Thora Birch. The movie also shows the girls as adults in the 1990's played by actresses such as Demi Moore, Rita Wilson and Melanie Griffith and though they were alright the best parts of the movie are when the characters are young girls growing up in the early 70's.
