Summary: Rat Race is a must see!!!!!!
Review: I saw this movie as part of a double feature and everyone was expecting a bad movie because it was just after the sneak peak movie hit Hardball featuring Keanu Reeves. Everyone cryed in hardball and they cried from laughter from Ratrace. Rowan Atkinson portrays an Italian tourist who has no idea what is happening except that he is in a race not to mention that he has narcolepsy and falls asleep spontaneously. I'm not telling the rest. I HIGHLY recommend this to anyone. It's a fall down from laughter hit!!!!!!!!

Summary: Non Stop Laughs
Review: I just want to say thumbs down to Ebert and Roeper's review of the "hilarious" comedy Rat Race. The gags NEVER end or fall flat throughout the entire. If you planning to see this, run to it right now. Don't expect to take a bathroom visit while viewing or ELSE.

Summary: ...
Review: The year 2001 has been filled with supposedly funny movies that aren't; this one just may top the list. The jokes in this film are set up so far ahead that you cringe to think of what's going to come, and when the joke actually happens you want to cry. The audience I was with when viewing it thought cows flying on hot air balloons and poop being described as a prairie dog popping in and out of its hole were the funniest things in the world. Every single "joke" falls flat to the ground with a loud thud'can the audience not "hear" them?
Now you may think I'm being unconventional as a reviewer. I'll try not to be so harsh. The movie opens in a casino with a joke that falls flat much like every other one. The opening of this movie was off-kilter and forced. I was hoping it would get better, but it didn't. The simple premise of this movie is about a group of people staying at a high-class hotel casino ran by Donald Sinclair (John Cleese). After winning gold coins this group of bumbling, unfunny folks are brought together on a race to get [money] out of a small locker in Silver City, New Mexico. This group of people includes: the non-risk taking business man Nick Shaffer (Breckin Meyer); a flamboyant woman named Vera Baker (Whoopi Goldberg) who finally has come in contact her long lost sassy daughter, Merril Jennings (Lanei Chapman); two bumbling brothers, Blaine and Duane Cody (Vince Vieluf and Seth Green); a couple vacationing with their children, Randy and Bev Pear (John Lovitz and Kathy Najimy); a football referee, Owen Templeton (Cuba Gooding, Jr); and a narcoleptic Frenchman, Enrico Pollini (Rowan Atikinson). None of these people are funny in the least bit.
This movie seems like its trying to make eccentric fun characters but it can't. Its sick to see that this is what comedy has come to and that people actually enjoy it. The most excruciating thing about this movie is seeing what these comedians have become. Rowan Atkinson, who I admire as a comedian, has lowered himself in America for only being known for his Mr. Bean persona. Us, as Americans can't accept anything intelligently funny'so this is the product'this film is the product of that. John Cleese looks, feels and sounds old and I've never said this about him before, but he annoyed the heck out of me. Whoopi Goldberg trudges along and I almost feel sorry for her. Cuba Gooding Jr. cannot do comedy, lets just leave it at that, sure he's a great actor, but he cannot do comedy. And saddest of all is a cameo appearance made by Kathy Bates as a women selling squirrels. At this point in the movie I was about to cry. The only semi-funny character in this film is Dave Thomas' Grisham, a man without any personality, which is the same personality trait the writer of this film used in his last movie for a character in 'Sgt. Bilko.' So the few semi-funny parts in this movie are being reused from an earlier one.
Who is there to blame for this? I seriously don't see how it even got into production. But there are people you can blame'and I shall do so. Directed by Jerry Zucker who has been responsible for some of the most beloved comedies of our time namely "Airplane", "The Naked Gun," and "Ghost". Written by Andrew Breckman (also wrote screen adaptation for "Sgt. Bilko"), this may have looked good on paper, but probably not. This is one stinky product!
In the end this is a bad movie, there's no if's, and's or but's about it. I am glad I saw it though'seeing stuff like this makes me feel good about my own writing and helps me to see what not to do. I think'with crud like this out there'how do I not have a chance at making it into filmmaking?

Summary: This movie was a waste of time and money!
Review: It is hard to imagine a more trite, hackneyed collection of sight gags and generally inferior acting than Rat Race. Intelligent movies get ignored while movies like this make big box office. God only knows why. This wouldn't even make decent television. I would rather stay home and clean my garage than see a stupid movie like this.

Some movies are so bad they are funny. This is not one of them; Rat Race is just bad.

Summary: Funny Funny Funny!
Review: This movie is so funny and much better than one expects when they go to watch it. If you like "Airplane!", "Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad" and the Police Squad TV Episodes (available on VHS), go see "Rat Race" (and vice versa if you like "Rat Race"! GO SEE IT, trust me, you'll enjoy it (ignore the stupid commericals for it).

Summary: A Hilarious Race??
Review: I did not find this movie funny. Not only is this a so-so remake of "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World" or, if you like, a reimagining; some jokes are crude and the actors cannot save the film and they seem conscious of this.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: YOU MUST SEE RAT RACE!
Review: Anyone who likes comedy movies should really see this, it is very funny. The acting is great, and the plot is orginal, and the two brothers were my favorite characters. The only bad part of the movie was the ending (it was corny), but I gave it 5 stars for being so funny.

Summary: Funny!
Review: This movie was funnier than I had expected. I thought that all of the "good" parts would be given away in the trailers, but only a few of them were. This movie was fun and high energy with a great cast. John Cleese and Whoopie Goldberg were naturally wonderful and there is a hilarious cameo by Kathy Bates!
