Rating: Summary: Val: Where are your sideburns? Review: When I think genius the first name that comes to mind is of course, Sir Val Kilmer. I mean, hes at least in my top 4 favorite Batmans ever! Real Genius is a creative masterpiece combining elaborate plot with cutting edge special effects. I won't give away the ending, but all I'm saying is I hope your hungry...very hungry. Val ability to thrawt the plans of his power-hungry professors gives all us dreamers the hope that we can one day fight adversity in such a noble way. I cant say enough about this movie, but I shall leave you with this: Following in the footsteps of such greats as Brando, Newman, and De Niro, Mr. Kilmer gives a preformence that dare I say is in a league of his own.
Rating: Summary: very good for its day Review: This was a great movie when it came out. The jokes were in, they hairstyle and dialugue is witty. And its cool to see Kilmer before his macho roles after this one. I'm just not sure how this generation would respond to the movie.
Rating: Summary: Potential for more Review: The very basic premises could have been a very good movie. Don't get me wrong. There are some excellent actors in there, and some amazing dialogue. But it's such a good premise and such good actors it could have really crossed the nerd-section and become a hit which appealed to everyone.
Rating: Summary: Early Val Kilmer Review: I could only give it a 4 star because of the hair style of some of the characters. Otherwise I love it, much better than its then contemporary "My Science Project" this one is funny, yet realistic. It's a good watch.
Rating: Summary: Nerd Humor Review: What others say about this movie is all true. It is a clever plot with the brainy, socially inept nerds triumphing over evil in the end. But the characters are all crafted brilliantly by this very underrated cast. Kilmer is superb as the glib, irreverent leader, but the honest earnestness of Gabriel Jarret as Mitch is hard not to like. Not mentioned in the other reviews is Michelle Myerink as the hyperkinetic Jordan who drives her roommates insane and does floor sanding to combat insomnia. She is outstanding in her role here. This movie is also totally riddled with California Polytechnic in-jokes, but honestly you need a guide to spot them. Even without knowledge of those, you have to love the witty dialog and eccentric character portrayals.
Rating: Summary: Free Coffee. Review: Three words: Goldfish, Jello, and Beauticians. Any and all three are strongly represented; the viewer leaves with a better knowledge of himself and the world around him. Not just a zany 80's flick, but also a commentary on the human condition.
Rating: Summary: Best 80's Movie! Review: This movie is absolutely the best movie of the 80's! At least for the coming of age movies (or whatever they are called). Kilmer is hilarious in it and the rest of the cast is just as good! Definetly recommend it for anyone of any age!
Rating: Summary: Geek to the max Review: Where have you been? Havnt seen this movie yet? You probably will not appreciate it, but it is one of my favorite movies of all time. Who knows why. Cheezy one liners, [bad] special effects and spotty acting by the younger cast members make a poor movie right? NOT SO!Its charming, funny, and witty with a plot only a geek could savor. Enjoy!
Rating: Summary: Scientific Fun Review: If you like when smart-alecks, as opposed to real geniuses, get their due, then you will probably like this movie. Although some science is brought in, none of it is needed to enjoy the movie. Just clean comedy and a stick-it-to-the-establishment attitude. Val Kilmer does a really good job in a role prior to his becoming big-time. That alone warrants a single viewing. Scientific personalities who also like to have fun will watch it many more times. That would be me!
Rating: Summary: Everybody wants to rule the world.... Review: I love classic 80s movies and this one tops off all the rest. I remember watching this when I was a little kid. I always wondered where lanslow went in the closet. I especially loved the ending (wont spoil it) but just hearing the theme song from Tears For Fears brings back lots of good times. My advice if you haven't seen it, pick it up, its well worth it!
