Rating: Summary: don't waste your time Review: what should have been a good film based on it's idea is as horrible as strip tease.i can't believe how far down Cube has gone? his music has been wack for a while and these films are playing next door to Master P theater.unlike P Cube has a chance to make a good disc again.but another film like this he will feel the UGHHHH results!
Rating: Summary: I SEE THE VISION, BUT Review: I could see the same vision that first time director Ice Cube saw with this script. Unfortunately he was unable to successfully carry it out. The story follows a young woman (Lisa Raye) who becomes a stripper to support herself while in college. Along the way various sub-plots involving a night club owner, school, moonlighting, and her stressful family life, all add up to make the story more interesting. The most disappointing aspect of the film, aside from some bad acting, is the fact that certain emotions that the audience should be compelled to feel are not attained. However, there are two MAJOR REASONS that this movie should be seen despite the above.....BERNIE MAC (Dollar Bill) and CHRYSTALE WILSON (Ronnie). These two have really great performances in this film. In particular Chrystale Wilson is very good in her tough but sexy stripper role. Despite the plot there is not very much graphic nudity in this film; basically just enough to get the point across(another mistake). None the less, if you like Ice Cube, I would suggest checking out FRIDAY or TRESPASS. And also be sure to see this film for Mac and Wilson, but don't expect too much else.
Rating: Summary: Great Message-A little bit extreme in the learning. Review: I saw this movie and although it was a bit raunchy at times, it had a great message to it. I know the movie was trying to show what happens, realistically, in the strip club industry, but I think we could have been spared some of the scenes. However, the fight scene was just waiting to happen and I found myself pulling for Diamond the whole time :) Overall, a pretty good movie with an eventual positive message.
Rating: Summary: This movie was the bomb Review: This movie does show African-Americans at there worst, senator, but if you watched the movie there was a message. Some people do have to go through the worst to come up. You can't just forget that African-Americans struggle. I really liked this movie. I saw it twice at the show.
Rating: Summary: I wished there were an option to give half of a star Review: Ice Cube needs to be slapped for directing such a horrible, exploitive, stereotypical movie such as this crap. And whoever wrote the script should never get close to pen and paper again!! It seems like for every underrated and classic African American movie,(Soul Food, Friday, Boomerang, Devil in a Blue Dress, Eve's Bayou, etc..) there's at least three awful, cartoonish and overhyped movies that features African Americans at their worst, ( Woo,Player's Club, Phat Beach, Baps, In Too Deep). Let's do better than this, filmmakers.
Rating: Summary: Pretty good movie. Review: I liked how Diamond stayed strong and didn't give up when people down talked her about her job. Another thing I liked about the movie was that even though there was violence, at least nobody got killed. What I didn't like about the movie was how it degraded the women. But other than that, it was pretty good.
Rating: Summary: This movie is reality of what is going on in the real world. Review: The movie was tha bomb!!! Everyone in the movie did an excellent job playing their parts. It showed what really goes on in the clubbing industry, and shows you can come out on top of the game. Make the money, don't let it make you.
Rating: Summary: IT WAS OFF THE HOOK! THIS IS TRUE LIFE IN EVERYDAY SOCIETY. Review: THIS MOVIE WAS THE BOMB! I'VE SEEN THIS MOVIE 8X ALREADY. EVERYTIME I WATCH IT I LAUGH AT THE SAME LINES. THIS WAS TRULY ONE OF CUBES BETTER FILMS. I HOPE HE MAKES A SEQUEL TO THIS ONE AND LET US WITNESS INSTEAD OF KNOWING WHAT HAPPENED TO EACH INDIVIDUAL. OVERALL THIS MOVIE WAS THE BEST I HAVE SEEN IN 1998, BIG BABY!
Rating: Summary: THE MOVIE IS VERY INTERESTING Review: THE MOVIE REVEALS AN INTERESTING ASPECT OF LIFE UNKNOWN TO MANY. THE WORLD OF ENTERTAINMENT WITH A TASTE OF 'SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST'. ADDS TO THAT, THE MANY HUMAN POLLUTANTS, WHO, ON ONE HAND ARE CUSTOMERS, AND AT THE SAME TIME, TROUBLEMAKERS. A GREAT MOVIE THAT SHOWS AN ACTIVITY THAT GOES ON IN EVERY CORNER OF THE SOCIETY, BUT IS OVERLOOKED, BECAUSE, WHILE IT IS SATISFACTORY, PEOPLE ARE AFRAID TO EXPRESS IT BUT ICE CUBE. A VERY GREAT INTERPRETATION AND DEFINITION OF 'PARTY-TIME.
Rating: Summary: The bomb Review: I thought the movie was well written and very funny. Although at the same time it talked about real situations that actually are taking place in life.
