Summary: Self Awareness Without Boundaries
Review: I'm sorry-and I think I've done more empathetic soul-searching than the "vagina Warriors"-but I don't get how talking about your genitals is empowering or liberating-especially in a present culture which conflates shame and privacy and so relentlessly guilt trips those with a healthy desire for boundaries. Isn't the inability of which to form said boundaries now being considered the sad and lingering legacy of child abuse? If her theory or purpose (?)-which is supported by no more than your typical hazy Village Voice in your face haziness-is solid then who knew but the porn industries, extreme plascitc surgery industries and frat houses nationwide were early bastion of feminism long due praise! Try running that past the Mc Dworkinites! Of course thoughtfulness and genuine originality is not at work here, instead we have the attention hungry provocation of malignant narcissists either too unintelligent, neurotic or perverse to grow out of a prolonged and collective teenage rebellion in their life times.

Summary: This book is for women who hate men!
Review: If you hate men than this movie is for you. Filled with many accounts of lesbean lifestyles. Not much more needs to be said other than angry feminists complaining how men have oppressed them. Utter garbage! (My wife made me watch it.)

Summary: Not for the Squirmish
Review: This video really delves into the facts about a woman's vagina. Most media just exploits female sexuality (think of how many nude women you see on t.v. versus men). However, Eve Ensler presents the vagina from different perspectives; she has stories in there from very old women to very young women (she even interviewed a group of girls that were 9-16 y/o). I became interested in The Vagina Monologues when one of my friends read part of the book to me, and it made me laugh. Then I watched the movie with my boyfriend, my roommate and her boyfriend. The guys were a little hesitant at first, but as the movie progressed, they really got in to it! The movie brought up topics of discussion between the sexes. And now, the guys still quote the movie on occasion!

Summary: something's audibly wrong
Review: watched the local performances here three times. eve even got to visit a local bookstore to promote one such performance and sign some books. was quite excited to have the dvd finally. however, when i watched it, there seems to be something wrong with the audio. it started good then turned bad when the words you hear are not in synch with the video images that you see. hope that some other reviewers get to place their own comments here. i'm not sure if this is just a fluke dvd that i have or if it's the same for the other dvds out there.

Summary: ALL ABOUT EVE AND THE V-WORD....
Review: You've got to hand it to Eve Ensler. She certainly knows how to break the ice. In her one woman show, she performs her own material in monolgues about her vagina and everyone elses. Some of the material was touching and humorous but most of it was so explicit I halfway expected her to lift her dress and provide visual aid. I'm so glad she didn't. This woman has a lot to say about the v-word and she wants you to know it. I am not an uninformed man about the human body. I agree that people need not be ashamed about their bodies and how they work. Miss Ensler hammers you over the head with the fact that people are basically ignorant about the female sex organs and their vaginas are angry about this. Miss Ensler must have the angriest vagina on the planet. Basic information is doled out here but mostly I found her ramblings tiresome and needlessly on the exploitive side. This is not an educational DVD but a launching pad for some of the most intimate and graphic musings on the female anatomy there is outside of a porn film. Experience this performance if you must but be aware it's not a comedy routine and it's not enlightening in any way except to sit and drop your jaw at how a woman felt compelled to take this subject and wipe your face with it. Enough said.

Summary: A GROUNDBREAKER
Review: You've never seen anything like Eve Ensler's VAGINA MONOLOGUES. I didn't see a live performance by any of the cadre of actresses that performed it live in Los Angeles. I did, however, view the DVD and was impressed and enlightened with the bold, frank, and often funny monologues by Ensler on this part of the female anatomy. These monolgues were filmed at several of Ensler's live performances. The attributes of the monologues also apply to Ensler's inverviews of many women on the subject, which are also in the DVD. I was so impressed after my first viewing of this DVD that I went out and bought it. As I plan to view Ensler's performance on DVD many times, of course I didn't want to keep paying the rental fees!
