Rating: Summary: Romantic comedy presents very important social issue Review: This was a good movie with a good plot. It kept me wondering when and how the irony would be revealed. It was very enjoyable and well written. Other than the children (and John Bleushi) cursing, it was a fairly clean movie. My main applause for this movie is that it involves a very important social issue, organ donation. My mom is a transplant recipient brining this issue very close to home. Too many people in this country die because healthy organs are going to waste because people are too selfish to help someone else. I just wish the movie had done a better job of bringing the issue to the forefront. One minute there is a death, and the other there is a cooler with a heart in it. We missed the whole in between, which for public awareness, was a real shame.
Rating: Summary: Return To Me Review: A well written screenplay. A story that is predictable but interesting. The acting and direction were first rate as was the casting. David Duchovny(?)is able to show off his considerable acting skills in this movie to an extent not possible in his role on X-Files. It is difficult to find a weak spot in this film. It succeeds as romance, comedy and has dramatic depth. It is a very positive film, a breath of fresh air, and left me with a good feeling about life and the abiltiy of Hollywood to make such a movie. One can compare this film to "You've Got Mail" in overall quality. Go see it!
Rating: Summary: Return to Me Review: Thoroughly entertaining. The storyline is warm and endearing. It runs the whole range of emotions: love and romance, sadness and heartbreak, hope, laughter, and tears. The supporting cast was excellent in their roles (very funny and witty). David Duchovny and Minnnie Driver were suburb and so real to life. I really like a story with a good ending and with this movie you come away from the theatre uplifted and feeling so good about life. Can't wait to see it again.
Rating: Summary: I'll return to Return to Me! Review: During the first twenty minutes of the film we had predicted the next two hours BUT that was ok because the next two hours were amazing! There was no way we could have predicted the amount of times we were about to cry and laugh simultaneously throughout the entire film. David Duchovny was awesome, Carroll O'Connor was hilarious, Minnie Driver was endearing. The plot moved quickly and focused on everything we wanted it to and had us so thoroughly involved that I couldn't believe it was time to end. I recommend this film to everyone, both men and women left Return to Me happy.
Rating: Summary: "Return to Me" a return to "feel good" movies. Review: I enjoyed "Return to Me". It was funny, sad, uplifting and entertaining without being maudlin or too risque. The storyline was predictable, but it's nice to see a clean movie without violence and blatant sex. All of the actors/actresses did a wonderful job. Photography and locations were excellent.
Rating: Summary: This movie is good clean fun! Review: What a fun and touching movie! It is so refreshing to see a romantic comedy that is not trashy. The cast of characters is perfect. Carroll O'Connor, Robert Loggia and the rest of the "surrogate" Old Guy, Moms are hilarious and they warm your heart with the love and concern they have for Grace (Minnie Driver). Bonnie Hunt and James Belushi are incredibly funny as the average Catholic family! This is a great movie for a dating or married couple.
Rating: Summary: Simply Charming Review: I caught this movie last night, courtesy of MGM and Amazon, and am I grateful! It was (so many adjectives come to mind!) delightful. Duchovny proves he can be more than just Fox Mulder. Minnie Driver is always able to make me empathize (a sign of a great actor), and she succeeds as expected in this vehicle. Carroll O'Connor, Robert Loggia, and their cronies are a hoot! And, for me, James Belushi all but steals the show. This movie develops its characters very plausibly. The dialog is filled with humor and very little-to-no sappy dreck. (Ooh, I hate movies that resort to smarm!) The pacing is even (i.e. it doesn't drag). There is a surpirising *lack* of violence and sex. Thanks especially to TPTB for sparing us a graphic fatality scene. Kudos to Bonnie Hunt on her directorial debut! I was't in the theater a half hour before I realized I'd have to own this movie. My friend Darren rates movies in the you-couldn't-pay-me-enough. Using his scale, this is a full price movie. In fact, this is a see it multiple times at full price movie! Did I mention that David D. looks *fine* in jeans?
Rating: Summary: Return to Me Review: I absolutely loved it! The cast was extraordinary and they made me laugh and cry and sometimes laugh until I cried. David Duchovny and Minnie Driver pulled you into their relationship and didn't let you go. They tapped into my emotions and gave me that warm and fuzzy feeling inside. It was truly the warmest and most romantic movie I have seen in a very long time. I definitely will purchase this movie as a "keeper". Can't wait to see it again!
Rating: Summary: Return to me Review: Return to Me was a very funny as well as touching movie. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Rating: Summary: Does True Love Last Forever? Review: Bonnie Hunt, making her directing debut, has created a dramatic and heart-warming story that takes a different perspective on the dream that true love can last forever. David Duchovny, plays a charming and romantic architech who must decide if he can love a woman, (Minnie Driver),who needed his departed wife's heart to survive. I feel that this film spoke to me right from Director Bonnie Hunt's heart. Although it is her first film, her dircting talent can be seen by the colorful characters that both her leading performers glorified. David Duchovny expressed a truely remarkable performance, exercising all the emotions of the human spirit. Minnie Driver, playing every man's dream of a sensitive and beatuiful mate, brings so much life to her character as she fights for a second chance at life and love.
